I think it depends on the context and the cultural background of who says it. In cultures where people aren’t offended too easily, this just comes across as a clever/funny statement. Doesn’t take much courage. Regardless, this guy is undeniably a class act, as shown here

It’s not so bad. He won 6 games and led 3-1 in the second set. Novak only took 7 games off Rafa in 2020 and Stan only took 6 games off him in 2017. Poor Federer only took 4 games off him in 2012. Rafa embarrassed all of them with bagels.

CasperRuud is such a nice kid... it is good that he came up to the finals than the other next-gens (tho felt very sorry for the german youngster who fell so dramatically and screamed in pain - have never seen such a fall in a high level match ever) and the brand new-gen who was sooooo soooo hyped as the next to get 30 grandslams in one year...:-) that was how they all made it out to be... hope he learnt his lessons and will prove his worth in the future... but good luck to Ruud...

I think meds, sacha, thiem and the greek are all present gens as they've been playing for years now though unluckily while the big 3 are still active even though near retirement. For Carlos I think he has a future in tennis but the hype around him is just coz the media and not from his side. I just hope that before Rafa and Novak retire a new name will win a slam as a nod to the greats

Ruud is a class act and the epitome of humility . The score was misleading. Ruud fought quite hard in sets 1,2 and hit with serious pace, however Rafa is Rafa. He was just too good on Le chatrier. Many have tried in 14 finals. all have failed so far 😉😁

Frankly, I don't think the score reflects the battle on the court. Ruud was hitting angles, hitting lines, and running down balls. I believe we will see more of Ruud in the years to come. A well-fought tennis match.

In 89 out of Nadal’s 100 or so wins at Roland Garros he has won 3-0 in sets, so its not like he hasnt done this several times before against players a lot more experienced than Casper. Federer fex only managed to win 4 games against Nadal in a Roland Garros final (6-1,6-3,6-0). Djokovic lost his first GS final 0-3. Nadal has actually only lost 3 matches in total through all his career at Roland Garros, 3 matches!! And some people expected Casper to do what? 🙄
The two first sets he didnt play that bad, and who knows when Casper was 3-1 up in set two it could have been a tighter match if he managed to keep that lead and win the set. Of course the air gets out of you when you are two sets down against Nadal, who has only lost against two other players in all his career there. Even experienced players with lots of GS experience has struggled against Nadal.
Well, people can say whatever they want about him not being prepared or didnt show up, but you cant know how you’ll be affected until you are there yourself, at that moment. Even though he was prepared both mentally and physically, and wanted to play the best he could, you cant control how your body reacts in these situations. You just cant prepare for that.
I dont know why Casper get so much abuse (not saying under this video especially, but in general in social media). I have seen a lot of people abusive against Casper and for what reason? Just because he is a nice guy? I also feel some people treat him this way because he is Norwegian. They say he is lucky everytime he wins matches or titles and gives him no or little respect or credit.
He actually deserve a lot of respect coming from a tiny tennis country as Norway is. To be among the top 10 in the world is hard enough by itself and its even more hard work behind it when you dont have the same fascilities and opportunities as those from bigger tennis nations. He has had to fight his way up alone almost. As an example, there are only two municipal year-round tennis facilities in Norway.
Thank you for this. I wish people who so call a tennis fan should know the history of Rafa and RG. Even Roger and Nole got bagelled by Rafa at RG and Roger and Nole are parts of the Big 3. So let alone Ruud. First time finalist, first time playing Rafa @ RG .
