This was in South Africa and someone posted that this was the first time blacks and whites all came together for the concert. If anyone knows about apartheid the was proof that music brings people together.

I think you got the meaning of this song perfectly and this was a great lighthearted rendition, that also reflected it perfectly. I know this song but have never seen this wonderful performance. You will never be disappointed with a Paul Simon song. A fantastic songwriter who is not afraid to tell facts about South Africa without getting too political. The trumpeter in the back is Hugh Masekela. He had a hit record in the U.S. and elsewhere in 1968 with the original, instrumental version of 'Grazing in the Grass.'

They didn't dance at the Ritz but at a club perhaps in Harlem!! The bassist Bakithi Kumalo is amazing and along with Paul's storytelling skills, and backup vocals by Ladysmith Black Mombazo makes for a joyous song 🎵.His Graceland and Rythym of the Saints period was an incredible time. His Born At The Right Time Tour is one of my Top concerts ever...just amazing.This couldn't have been played at a better time today...seriously!! Peace J ✌ ☮ 💕

Whenever that specific rhythm, that African sound spreads through the song, it's magical!
Also love the back vocals' synchronicity in dancing just as in singing.
