    Saw Jackson Browne in concert at Segerstrom Center last year and he was amazing. He has occasionally performed with The Eagles since the 70s. He wrote most of "Take it Easy" and has performed it since then at his own concerts. Glenn's passing was a fresh wound at The Grammys and first time they performed without him, maybe that effected the performance.

    Thanks for this report and I sure would cheer a continuation of the band in whatever form they become and surely, with Don at the helm, everything would be respectful of their heritage and an homage to Glenn and that would be beautiful. As for Mr. Felder, I read his book as soon as it came out and I really liked it and I can understand both sides--his wanting each member to keep receiving one share, Frey/Henley wanting two shares each as founding members and principle singers and songwriters. And it sounds like, at the close of their dispute, everyone went home happy--Frey/Henley got their two shares each and Felder got a big settlement. And his book stoked within me a deeper interest in the band and prompted me to see the Eagles twice in '08 with a couple of friends. So, for sure, Mr. Felder promoted the Eagles with his book and I will always be glad I saw the band on their Long Road Out of Eden tour.

    you know people forget that there are a lot of people involved in the eagles touring and while I do agree Glens passing is still raw, there are a lot of people who depend on these guys for their bread and butter.I don't think it would be so bad if they reunite with Glens son if it means keeping all those involved employed as long as they give it a little time it would be ok:)

      I agree, Nick Loughrey. I hate how everyone just says Henley is the main guy without putting any thought into it. When the band first started it was Glenn and Henley doing the main songwriting, but after Felder joined the group and became the main musical composer of the group, the major part of their work from then on was Felder writing music and Henley writing lyrics (which probably led to a lot of Glenn's ill feelings towards Felder). This combination produced their best work in my opinion. Meisner was another underrated part of their creative process as well. I got to see them twice on this last tour (including their last show with Glenn in Bossier City, LA) and it was great to see Bernie with them. He sounded and played just as good as ever.

    Well done - thanks for the info. I am aching for them (Henley) to get smart and invite Don Felder back. It would be FANTASTIC to see "Eagles" (Glenn said it was never supposed to be "THE eagles") with Meisner, Browne, Bernie, Souther & Walsh/Henley/Felder of course and maybe keep Steuart Smith for a few songs. These guys (henley) need to drop the egoic mind and realize the outcome / LOVE from the music is a Quadrillion times bigger than ANY uncomfortable feeling from a few argument$. We only live once - time is running out - and none of them are 'spring chicks' anymore.

      mark s You've got some nerve! Not to mention NO BRAIN if you think Timothy sounds gay. BTW just what exactly does a "gay" singing voice sound like anyway? Elton John? Freddie Mercury? Adam Lambert? He has been happily married to Jean forever & has grown kids. Not everyone screams like a banshee when they sing. Apparently both POCO & the Eagles felt he was man enough for the job both times when Randy left. Just because he happened to be the last to join doesn't lessen his roll in the band. He came along at a time when he was needed. I love each & every member of that band. That's what made the THE GREATEST AMERICAN ROCK BAND, the fact that they were so versatile & could do it ALL! Have you seen them live? I have several times & it was worth every penny! I hope you know TBS has a huge cult like following of fans (women) who travel around to wherever he's playing. I'd do it if I could. Back to your comment or should I say insult? Yes!!! He is most definitely SEXY!!! Of course he's getting older like we all are but still sexy!!! Pictures of him while they were recording The Long Run make me melt!!! So take your hate & your jealousy & watch some of his interviews & maybe you can learn a thing or two about being humble, thankful,& polite.

    Don Henley will , no doubt, take a lot of things into consideration when trying to decide whether to have an Eagles reunion or not. I think it would be nice.....and to include Glenn Frey's son, Deacon, in the band....along with some of the others who used to be with the Eagles. First, the band must take the time they need to mourn Glenn's untimely death. It was a great loss. It will probably be a good while until something is decided. It would be worth the wait.

  • @donnadamusicloverfanatic5944

    Like Don, my heart is still to broke to even think about watching any kind of eagle show...his death just broke my heart. i get so frustrated when i hear people dedicating songs to honor David Bowie and Prince and always say how those TWO were the "guys of the day" Well that is not true...Glenn was around way before prince ever was... I never heard of Prince until what the early 80s. These artist need to start honoring Glenn as they do Bowie and Prince...

    • @donnadamusicloverfanatic5944
      @donnadamusicloverfanatic5944 Před 7 lety +2

      it is just sad he does not get the tributes and credit he so deserves. I was a little off on Prince's dates....he released his first album in 78...(Prince wrote, produced, arranged, composed, and played all 27 instruments on the recording on his 1st album, "For You" and it did not even go into the top 10, nor did any of its songs) by the time Prince PUT out his 1st album...And Hotel Calif was already out and topping the charts for 2yrs. Matter of fact, Eagles were already on top 10 a few times. I am just sick and tired of no one showing this man the respect he deserves. When people accept awards, they mention Price and Bowie, but not Glenn. I can assure you they were probably fans of Hotel Calif at the least... Just give the man some fucking respect is all i ask... songwriters like him dont come along very often and when they do, it will be a very long time before another one comes along that can only hope to be as great as he was. (sorry Elmo, this is just a very touchy subject for me and i cringe every time i hear homage paid to prince or bowie and not Glenn. someone has to defend our boy Glenn....guess it will be me.and that is fine by me. I'm up for the job and am very honored to do so.)

    As a tribute to Glenn and to the Eagles, it would be wonderful, idealistic, for his son to step in on his behalf, and to also bury the hatchet with Don Felder and any other ill wills that exist with other past band members, put away the egos. Yes, we all want to see the Eagles get back together, we're being selfish, their music was fantastic, they are such a part of our lives and with the loss of Glenn, it also signals a our morality. It was such a shock when Glenn passed. Let's find a way to keep it going...

  • @bobpierce115
    @bobpierce115 Před 7 lety

    This is something only the surviving member of the Eagles can work out. It's only been 10 months since Glenn's passing. They need to sort things out if there is to be a formal Eagles reunion with a tour, all the concert dates and ALL that involved with working together like that. Naturally we, the fans, want this, that and the other thing.
    Look at all the disagreement among the fans just in these comments here. This is about personalities, egos, getting along. These guys are at an age when life should be easier and more enjoyable; they've earned it. Whatever they eventually work out I'll be happy with because I know they'll be happy. Knowing they're suffering to entertain us isn't something I'd like anymore than they would. This is going to take time, soul searching and a lot of thought. We'll see and accept what they decide and when.

    Would be a pity if Henley and Felder do not "bury the hatchet". A long time has passed, everyone has matured and in interviews with Felder I have seen, he never displays anything but admiration for the Henley/Frey songwriters and the Eagles band - and has regrets (don't we all have) about some past happenings, but mainly indicates his time with the Eagles was memorable.. His excellent guitar playing gifts would undoubtedly enhance the Eagles.

  • @timgraley2198
    @timgraley2198 Před 7 lety

    As good as I would like to see The Eagles performing, and hopefully back together, it will only happen is if all the members agree to without any reservation. I believe that it would be appropriate to add Glenn's son. Another one that needs to be added is Don Felder. He was the catalyst, a well regarded song writer for some of the Eagles hits.. Whatever the rift was, now is a good time as ever to bury the hatchet for the sake of the fans as well as the members.
    The healing of Glenn's death has to be first priority before the Eagles can begin to rebuild the group. I'm sure it was Glenn's wished for the band to continue. I don't think I am alone when I say that I hope The Eagles will make this happen.

    Jackson is like an extended member of Eagles, but that would sure create logistical problems with shows, as his setlist is probably as long as theirs. J.D. would be an interesting choice, as he was an early collaborator with Glenn and Linda, and was considered as an initial member of Eagles.
    OTH, if they wanted to go bold like adding Walsh in the '70s, letting Bob Seger sit in would be an awesome tour. Seger was an early mentor of Glenn's in Detroit.
    Lastly, Bernie would I think be welcomed by audiences in any iteration - Randy's out for health and other reasons, and I don't see Felder, unfortunately, returning to the fold.

    You people all seem to forget who formed the Eagles. Let me remind you, It was GLENN FREY and DON HENLEY!!!!!!!!! They formed the band and then invited Randy and Bernie L.to join. Felder came on 3 years later. than Joe another year after. Jesus, people keep forgetting that. It was Glenn and Don's band. PERIOD!!!!!!

      I don't see Felder as the one who did anything wrong. He was made a full-fledged member in 1974 when he was brought in for On the Border to bring in a rock guitar ability. He was the one who got the Eagles to the next level and into the big-time. Without him, they were a country oriented band and would have never become mainstream rock like they did. Felder also was influential in getting Walsh to come in and make that sound even stronger. He wrote the music to Hotel California and many of the rock guitar parts on all the Eagles songs 1974-1980.
      The problem was Frey and Henley during the reunion years 1990s and early 2000's wanted more of the pie and made the slices smaller for Schmidt, Felder, and Walsh. Schmidt and Walsh were basically salaried members and did not have a contract in Eagles LTD., but Felder did. He was an equal to Henley and Frey, and he expected his same portion as per the contract. Frey especially did not want to hear it and told him he was out. Felder sued for wrongful termination and breach of contract and won by a settlement. He has his full portion whether he performs with them or not. Last years the Eagles performed without him he still received 1/5 of all Eagles revenue. Frey was the problem. He violated the contract and got crushed. The reason they settled was to get a non-disclosure agreement so Felder would not be able to give the facts to the public and embarrass Frey and Henley.
      I would hope Henley would approach Felder, ask him to come back. Who know's maybe Felder and Henley can write another great Eagles anthem if they reunited. They have to pay Felder 1/5 of all revenue per the settlement regardless, so asking him back and treating him right would be the best thing for all.

    So many combinations are out there. Id give anything to see those members less considered added back in. Of Course Randy (if health permits), Bernie was there last tour but they oddly didnt let him stay on stage, this go round leave him up there. And God willing Don Felder. He has been so kind in interviews for so long. Let the past be the past. Glens death should be proof positive to what really matters. Shit if Fleetwood Mac could all get on stage and tour after their past, surely Henley could get over the nasty law suit.
    As for Glens songs, to me they should focus on an odd setlist as well, and focus more on others vocals than Glens. There are plenty of hits without his lead on vocals.
    Jackson Browne, look I love the dude as himself, and his talent is oustanding, but seeing him live, and hearing him with them, this is NOT something they should do. His vocals kill their harmony.
    Money talks. I have fought with fans online since Glens death that I felt Henley would put some form of the Eagles on stage in a year or two. My guess it will be He, Walsh, and Tim, and sadly with Jackson. But hey, thats still the Eagles to some degree. Enjoy folks whatever it is, they are getting old. It wont last much longer.

      I believe the Glenn was the one who had the most acrimonious distaste for Felder. I think Henley went along to just placate Glenn there could be some detente there sometime soon.I do not see Jackson being a part of it not because of the Eagles but i just do not see Jackson wanting to do it.

    *The Incomplete EAGLES @ The Kennedy Ctr. Honors*
    No real famous talented band ever existed without conflicts & clashes. That's absolutely very normal since we have to remember, with a group of creative & very talented musicians with strong "individuality", interacting constantly for an ever-progressive & dynamic craftsmanship, that is inevitable.
    The average "active"lifespan of a decent band according to John Lennon is about 10 yrs.
    So, The Eagles actually way surpassed that then even had Reunions
    Any extremely bitter conflicts, even the 'court-suit' kind, should be healed and 'Got over with' with the passing of time.
    Why, because comes a stage in our lives wether we like it or not, we have the acronym called: "T.R.O." - meaning Time Running Out.
    I'll be the first, together with Joe Walsh, not meddle with what's going on with Henley/Frey vs. Felder...it was their personal business and deserves respect and sensitivity.
    However, after decades have passed, when everyone who paid their dues and contributed substantial parts for the overall success of the group at certain turning points in the band's lifespan, will be honored & recognized, not by among themselves, but the outside people who's lives were touched by their gifted music..., then, that is where all the experiences the band members shared with each other, blood, sweat, tears, but most especially the priceless FUN they shared should take centerstage, and all the prevailing bitterness, no matter who is right or wrong, is momentarily (even better if permanently) thrown out the window!
    At the Kennedy Center, where basically you are honored for just that 'Once' which encapsulates that special, unique part of your whole lifetime (which only a very, very few elite group of people of this world will ever achieve), then the world honoring them, should have seen the "Real Complete Group" who were actually there when the band was struggling then succeeding phenomenally reaching their summit.
    Again, why?
    Because rightly so...
    Best example will be the band almost every succesful group looked up to... (including The Eagles)...
    The Beatles!
    Had John not died too soon, as time passes by, their DNA dictates that they're FAMILY whether they like it or not...too much bond not even the greatest strife will forever dominate in them. We actually saw it (pretty close), set all differences aside to make the Anthology set in the mid 90's. partly for the sake of their loyal fans who really gave them their success to start with.
    OK, the bitter emotions prevailed...No Felder at the Kennedy Ctr.
    Can it be rectified at any given time now?
    No more!...Glenn is gone and won't come back.
    Who is to say, they'll be here next year? No one.
    That one moment in time, for the true, loyal fans who were really the ones responsible for positioning the band unto a pedestal, did not feel complete in honoring their heroes.
    With 'T.R.O.' in mind, maybe we could all learn a lesson from this.
    Time Running Out...we will never be able to beat this, it'll come sooner if not later, but we can definitely execute the right move, as time ticks by on us...and accomplish the proper & rightful thing which will not leave us in regret for the rest of our existence as each passing day brings us close to it.
    Thank you much for your time in reading this.
    --- A Loyal EAGLES fan
    (1972 - 2017 & beyond)

    I watched glenn, don was and their kids playing...the vocals were so bad on hotel california, even glenns voice sounded awful, he could not make up for the other bad singing going on.....his son Deacon did much much better vocally on non Eagles songs, which brings me to the point, he is a different kind of singer than his father....and DNA aside, Deacon is not good for the EAGLES, as Glenn and Don would have decided if it were not personal and his kid , So unless Don H is losing his edge on sticking to what is good for the Eagles, then we will see a VAn Halen type deal, where Wolfgang, who is not a good vocalist and a mediocre bass player failed to fill Michael Anthonys shoes. BUT he is Eddies DNA...The Eagles are still soaring for fans..just as "the Led Zeppelin" is...Robert did the right thing, he let Zep go with their dignity intact, for reasons that made sense, there was NO replacing Bonzo........and there us NO replacing Glenn. I would say, have tribute reunions, invite friends of theirs to join in...have Deacon join on a song and sing if he can nail the EAGLES vocal part, if not, he just plays on a tune, there are many good players and singers they could guest in... But do not compromise the Eagles name.
