Somehow they’ve take the worst enemy in all of fromsoft’s games and made it even more cancerous
Random people: eLdEn RiNg iS tOo EaSy!
FromSoftware: ...And I took that personally.
Except they made the Madness Lanterns non-respawnable so even if you die multiple times trying to parry and kill them you won’t have to worry about them later.
Bro, winter lanterns are some of the coolest enemies if anything they are way better in this game then in bloodborne mechanically
Madness builds just became terrifying to encounter in PvP
Just walk away while your opponents use madness attacks, after understanding the build they use just be very aggressive and don't give them time to use other madness spells. This approach is similar to how you approach intelligence builds as each spell takes time to cast and by staying aggressive you are able to punish them. Personally I have never had problems facing players who use madness, I don't consider it a very strong build and it is easily countered using the clarifying boluses to remove the accumulation of madness
Your advice "at the top of their head" was perfect. After falling for an hour I watched your video and did it on my next try. THANK YOU
@@XempegeX Time it so the parry hits when the wand is raised level with the top of their head. If that doesn't work you can slow down the video and watch the examples of how each one share that commonality.
I typically start the parry at the bottom of the head and that seemed to work well.
been trying already for a few minutes, then watched this video, first try after, gets it. my god thanks
The only guy that actually broke it down to when to parry. Well done, subscribed!
Just when I thought the giant scorpions and big hands as well as the dungeon with those big eye balls that give you death are scary these guys come up.
Nah fareal when i walked into the area and saw a message that said dont let it see you? Im like woah wtf you talking about dont let it see me. Then i wonder off into my great demise as one if these fuckers come at me. I started swinging and nothing happened but this blood sucking fcker sucking the life out of me
spent 30 minutes trying to figure out the timing before watching this and getting it first try. huge thanks, my guy
I parried the first 2 with no problem and I just can't get the timing down for the others 😭
@@jaywhite5469 Dang, okay, I would parry when the wand / walking cane is level with the top of it's head. The timing will vary per person, but that seems to be the cutoff.
I always started the parry when the wand was lined up with the bottom of their head and the delay would usually lead to success. Try whatever works for you. Let me know if you need anymore help!
The visual was spot on and just what I needed. Thank you for pointing that out!
Took me forever. Great tutorial. Anyone who's struggling...I stopped locking on for the parry. Just stand in front of the enemy and it will pretty much parry every time as long as you wait for it's arm to be above it's head.
You only need to parry and reposte ONCE! , after that you're free to hit them, grab the talisman (drops from 1st Wintern Lantern you encounter) and madness cookbooks (×3) find the manor, never come back here, empty map space.
@@chilly5010 hug the walls on the western side, and eventually you'll see a path leading to the upper levels of the woods, it's on a body near the center of the map
@@wasteofspace3373 you're joking 😭 I never wanted to return here, remember where you got it?
What are you parrying with? I just can’t kill them. I’ve never parried on two play throughs
Thank you so much for the tip on defeating them. I just got to the point where I first found them, so knowing how to kill them is crucial info. Have a great day, sir.
Thank you for the timing tip! It really helped a lot! These enemies are the worst, but at least I was able to get all but the one in the fog fairly quickly thanks to you! :D
I actually got my very first parry attempt. Batting average dropped a smidge afterwards, but it all worked out in the end.😏
Finally managed to get them all, actually quite usefull info BUT I had to switch to the same shield you're using :D Thanks
I’ve killed four of them and nothing but has dropped swollen grape has dropped
It's the first one you see at 0:26. It's close to the road you travel between the waypoints.
There is a tree branch surrounded by gold speckles on the map. The branch points to the bog area they are in.
Great guide, your timing cue was perfect. I think I only ended up getting grabbed twice the whole time
Thanx a lot, the timing guide helped a lot. These are the only 5 parries I've made in all From Soft games (excluding Sekiro of course). I never play like this , and I got it in one or two tries with this video.
@@AlexiosLair Try a buckler or regular shield with Golden Parry. You can try my method. When you see the wand at the bottom of the head, parry, and it should connect when it's near the top of it's head.
As long as the parry occurs around the top of the head you should be golden...heh.
@@AlexiosLair Ah, sorry. I must have forgot to reply. Try the buckler or a regular shield with Golden Parry. You can try my method and parry when the wand is level with the bottom of the head.
Or try to time it so it goes off while the wand is at the top of it's head. Everyone's reactions are a bit different, so experiment and you'll get it!
This enemy has the worst parry timing I've ever seen. Finally got it after 10 tries and watching this video helped a lot. I never would've even expected these enemies to be parry-able in the first place because if you try to parry while the wand is swinging towards you it's already too late. Terrible enemy design imo but at least the rest of the DLC is good.
Yep, seemed counterintuitive to me as well. I read they could be parried, so when I tried it I died a bunch. I thought it was impossible if they detected you, but I got lucky. (I was panicking in the video. 😅)
I know a lot of people are down voting it, but I'm overall happy with the experience. The final boss was a pain, but there are work arounds too.
OMG thought it was just me, the parry window is utterly ridiculous I even thought maybe my game is bugged, I've only managed to parry them twice, I just gave up after that because I tried so many times, looking at this video I'm thinking maybe golden parry would help me out cause I was just using regular parry and storm wall
@@wolfstorm5394 Apparently you can spam regular parry and it works. The arm just needs to be raised with the wand at the top of the head. You can also wear all the best gear to tank the initial grab, giving you more chances.
Using Carian Retaliation first try parried succesfully.
I couldnt for the life of me parry before at any position of the arm/wand. It was driving me crazy
That tailsmen kind of helps with the mansion boss in that swamp since he uses madness like crazy. Basically he's going to keep buffing your own attack power.
thanks, this is useful. this actually made me use the carian retaliation for actual parry lol
@@theexperience5549 Uh, it should. I didn't try it personally, but they share the same frames I thought? Time it so the wand is fully lifted.
@@theexperience5549 yes. i've manage to kill every one i found there, I just have to time my parry window, some says you need to wait until the wand is raising, in my case i need to do it earlier, start pressing when i see their hands move. (i have more input delay, maybe because i play on wireless controller)
Hey, does the Aged Ones have any different interaction if you had the Three Fingers mark? Like, in Bloodborne, when you reach a level of insight you start to hear the winter lanterns singing, right? Would be awesome if you could hear the Aged Ones singing or something if you had inherited the Frenzy Flame.
Not sure, but that would be awesome! I really think they should add in more little details like that. Maybe you get new dialogue with Gideon and Malenia?
The noice talisman is very useful in this segment. Not knowing better, I tried to collect one of the bell flower traps while hiding in the reeds. This guy shuffles right next to me but couldn't see or hear me which allowed me to escape.
Thanks for this i couldn't find any info on these annoying enemies
You're very welcome! Same, I knew it could be done, but I had to do a bit of experimenting since I never really have used parries.
@@ervineonline Yeah I'm not a big perry person either so I was confused trying everything but that lol
I found that taking a step or two back from them upon getting agro (instead of being directly infront) made the parry way easier
There is one thing EVERY guide I saw about these got wrong. They all say that if they grab you, it's a guaranteed death. Not true. Equip the strongest Flamedrake and Pearldrake talisman you have. Equip a full Erdtree Sentinel armor (highest fire resistance of all armors). Equip the strongest Clarifying Horn Charm and the Mottled Necklace you have. If you got these, you WILL survive the grab attack, and you'll have enough time to heal up before it attacks you again. Also, I recommend Assassin's Gambit instead of Crepsus' Vial, as it also gives you partial invisibility.
Okay! Cool! Would be nice to have a few more chances to get the timing right! Thank you!
First time today i passed them with my mage to reach the grace with no problem using "Lucidity" running like crazy .
But after your video i will go back to kill them all , payback is a b1tch .
Thank you !!!! subbed
I killed the 3 on the way to divided falls site of grace using a parry then killed with greatsword. Does it have to be a riposte with a smaller weapon to get the talisman? Cause I’ve only gotten the grapes so far & those 3 are the only ones I’ve encountered so far. I’m not sure where the other ones are. I think I see them in the distance so I sneak up but it’s always the inquisitor dudes with candles lol
Every time it would swing it's wand to grab me I took a swig of my estus which seemed to stop it somehow
Do they drop any of their armor? Someone mentioned they can drop their mask. But I can't find anything online about it
I just found 2 more of these guys, another 3 hours of trying to parry I guess (yeah, so far there's 5 in total
Ah, sorry my method isn't working for you...
In the top section, there is one alone, and then two near him. In the bottom section, there are two spaced out, and one in the mist.
@@ervineonline oh nonono, not at all, it worked, it's just my brain that can't time the party perfectly lol
I can't get it down either no matter how many times I try I haven't even killed one
@@sethwilkins132 Parry when the wand is raised and even with the top of it's head. Everyone's reaction times are different, but I would recommend aiming for that.
You'll get it! Try slowing down the video if you want. They all share that commonality.
I heard Buckler parry was the one witj more parry frame and it works
The one in the mist was the only one I've encountered so far and I killed him in my 2nd attempt with normal starter bandit shield
Okay, good! The others are in the areas with water. There are divisions of land that have low points. They will be attached to the road. 0:27 is the talisman one. If you keep going you'll find one more.
The upper area is easy to find, just follow the road north and turn left before the cliff gets high.
Thank you for parry advice got him after 15 tries. I rewatched the slow mo got first try after. Thanks you. So annoying
The second you said the wand needs to be above his head I did it thank you you’re a time saver
How do you beat the 2 that are grouped together. I parry one then the other warps over and hits me
It's tough for sure. You'll probably end up only being able to kill one before the other kills you. You can try to wait until they are further apart, but it all depends on your weapon.
I suppose you could bait one into teleporting onto you, but you have to be really good with the timing.
thanks for the help! seeing lots of disgruntled gamers out there and i honestly thought this was kind of fun. i struggled maybe a dozen times to even land the parry, and then when i finally chained 2 in a row (it didn't die on one hit), that felt great.
My pleasure! Heh... I mean, I was one of 'em! 😅
Once you get the hang of it I kind of wish there was more of them, but maybe in more secluded areas? They have a lot of open space they could expand on. I hope they have a patch with additional content for areas like this!
Got no issue with bosses and stuff , things can be learned and worked around , but these guys were a nightmare , just ragequit and broke my self-imposed rule of looking stuff up because my god trying to figure out you need to parry the wand is insane...I managed to stance break them once with regular attacks but still couldn't damage as they got up before I could riposte as I was stuck in skill animation and I couldn't replicate it since, though is there a way to dodge the initial teleport from them? It's...really annoying tbh-
P.s thank you for the video, extremely helpful and straight to the point , appreciate it
Totally. I look stuff up if I can't figure it out in a reasonable amount of time. I assumed you could get torrent back if you beat these guys or the boss of the area. I was very disappointed. That's crazy! Didn't know that.
@@valeriucb6497 Sure! I hadn't done a guide video in a while and I learned some good things on how to improve going forward! Appreciate you watching and commenting! I love helping people!

There is a tree branch on the map with golden speckles around it. It should point to the bog area they walk around in.
If you don't have the talisman you can also use the black knife armor for anyone who needs the extra help! :)
I just beat this fucker after dying 15 times. Used the buckler shield, and Poison Cross-Naginata. Trust me guys it works, focus on when you see the staff get closer to their heads, I did a 123 count in my head then boom got his ass. Great vid boss!
Can you do it with the sorcery version?
? Uh, which one? Carian Retaliation? Anything that has a parry type animation should work!
Im really struggling to parry these guys... cant find the window
Ah, well I would just keep watching my footage and try to adjust as necessary. If you look at all the examples the Golden Parry hits right when the top of the wand is raised to the top of the head. Keep at it, I'm sure you'll get it!
@@ervineonline funnily enough i nailed it on a normal parry. The carian retaliation was a no go for me! I found the sweet spot was when their wand was at its highest point before they took a swipe. Thanks for the video mate.

It depends on what kind of shield you're using. Buckler with Golden Parry is what I used. Try to time it so the wand is even with the top of it's head.
Compared to physical damage like on your weapon, I found my Coded Sword dealt pretty low damage. So these guys might have good holy resistance.
@@ervineonline Yeah. I still have trouble parrying them even following your guide, but I did finally get the one that drops the talisman. I want whatever loot the others have too though. They don’t respawn, which is nice.
@@shadexvii3975 Welp, sorry it wasn't easier. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it!
Hope everyone here enjoy fighting just one of Bloodborne's many enemies. If you keep your distance, they'll eventually do an "omae wa mou shindeiru", warping to your back and knocking you down. If you can recover quick, this should give you more than enough time to hit that parry window perfectly since it's a guaranteed follow-up. Hope this helps!
Ooh!!! Nice!!! I didn't know that! I'll put it in the description! Thank you!
I now know why after 30 attempts I couldn't parry. I was only using normal parry

@@ervineonline I did try so maybe I didn't try that hard or I need to change my should. I don't recall if there's a talisman to increase the parry window but I would be glad to have one.
@@cagtbd Yeah, sadly I don't think there is. Golden Parry with a buckler or regular shield should work well too. Arm raised, with wand near the top of it's head. Should be the sweet spot.

Oh, nice! I'll include it in the description! Might help some people who are stuck, thanks!
Bro just killed all of them and uploaded video and just came to see if anyone did this
I have no interest in parrying. Isn't there supposed to be one somewhere in the place i just fight normally? I've already beat the lord of madness.
Black Flame, Black Flame Ritual, or the Black Dagger. It has to be something that reduces the max HP by a percentage. You can do it, but it's way more tedious and you have to drain their total HP.
Bro, you're fucking goated. Got it on the first try after this video, thanks
wendigoon?
ive been trying for like 30 minutes and i cant parry them wtf
So each person has different reaction speeds. If you can parry when the wand is raised all the way up, that should work. Keep at it!
My mans yours is the only video that's explained how best to parry them. the only time I've ever had to parry anything, worst Elden Ring enemy by far
Ha, thanks! Yeah... Bosses are rough, but sneaky by these guys was lame. Luckily I found out you could kill them. Shout out to whoever discovered that!
Can't parry for my life. I have played for thousands of hours. Have an NG+7 character at level 20 on DS3. Now this is the the enemy that I just can't beat? Like, it's a freaking joke, I have to parry three times to kill it and it takes no damage from anything but the parry. Like I see you attack, but I can't, I don't think it's a lot. I either parry three times in a row or die.
Eh? Wow, that's weird it should be killable by normal attacks after the first parry... 😵

@@JTKuro Yes, a little harder, but you should be able to do it with any parry.

A person suggested spamming regular parry. It may help you. As long as the parry connects at the top of the head you should be able to open him up to normal attacks.
@@ervineonline so, after watching this video and using the wand as a green light to parry, I got him in 2 tries.

Tbh once i learned i could parry them... there not that bad, and they stay dead. I just went through each in without needing to rest and killed them all lol. I do wish you could use torrent if they were all dead/ i wish there was more side content in the region vs playing as solid snake for 10 minutes and fighting my own ending lol
I think it would be satisfying if you could get torrent back, but maybe with slightly reduced speed? I know they want that area to feel bigger and not cruise through it, but still... I would love if they did a patch and added more things!
@ervineonline it's just the fact there's only 3 things of interest in that entire region and 2 of them you see for like 5 minutes total combined. Being the church with fragments and perfume bottles then the winter lanterns. After that it's the dungeon and you never need to touch the area again. It's so out of the way for such little value
Yeah f*** this you literally have to have perfect timing and I have golden Perry on and I still cannot f****** do it I've tried literally 50 times

This is crazy, all that work for a trash talisman that doesn't work in pve. Lesson learned I guess, or whatever.
Kinda sucks... PvP has potential though! I really hope they add more content to the DLC. It's great as it is, but would be nice to fill in some areas and refine some unused mechanics.
