I am so guilty of this! However, I am 62 years-old and the stuffed animal that my mom made for me when I was still in the womb is not going ANYWHERE!! Love your channel. Your approach is so comforting and encouraging.
Keep it!
when we downsized after retirement, i decluttered my fancy mounted college & graduate school diplomas from my swanky alma maters. it felt weirdly liberating--i dont need those credentials as currency anymore. no one on the beach cares where or IF i went to college
I take pictures of all my sentimental things and then gave them away or threw them away. I am making a photo album (Shutterfly type) of all my memories/sentimental things, so I can "remember" . God bless you and yours.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
I wore my daughter's cap and gown to a Hallowe'en party then donated them. I earned that right for getting her through high school! On the other hand, I'll never declutter the sweaters, blankets, and quilts that my mom and her sisters have made for us over the years. They are beautiful, high quality, and it's cold in Canada!
I love the humorous approach to this topic. Your water bottle co-star was adorable! Working through ignoring family guilt (& outrage) when I don't want to accept mementos they've saved from my childhood and want to give me AND want me to display them in my home. It's such a struggle! So glad I can watch your channel for encouragement!
So glad that everyone just rented robes and caps for graduation (and usually the fancy dresses for prom/dances too) where I’m from.
Sounds like you come from a great place!
I kept my tassel from Graduation(s) and put them in plastic Christmas ornaments from Michaels. Now they are on my tree each year as a memory. I did this for my Granddaughter's Cheer medals too.
I might do that too
thanks!!
I hang my HS tassel, my son’s preschool tassel (he passed in high school) and now my granddaughter’s tassel on my Christmas tree every year. I like the idea of putting them in plastic ornaments
Excellent, creative video and advice! I’m retired and I declutter because I like a tidy space that’s easy to clean. I also don’t want my kids to have to deal with so much stuff when I’m gone!
I usually feel guilty when decluttering gifts…I know it’s not healthy! Once something is given, it is mine to do what I want with. I am working on it! Thanks for sharing! ☺️
I confess, I talk to inanimate objects all the time. I even name them, the robo vac is Rosie, the stand mixer is Ralph, etc. when I had a garden, I picked up every plant and told it how beautiful it was and how happy it would be in the soil. I have conversations with the cat, he meows back……. I’m happy there is a name for than, I’m going to write it down so I remember….. AND you are right, motherhood is not for wimps! …. I’m writing a book!…..
Our robo vac is Speedy 😉
Thank you so much for this! Entertaining and so true. I have done a lot of decluttering and life is better. I kept my tassel from college. It eventually fell apart. That was an easy toss!
I think that’s what I’ll do too!
😂 This is FANTASTIC! You are hilarious!!!! And sooooo relatable! ❤🎉❤
Thanks so much! 💕
I'm much more sentimental than my husband, so when I declutter it's a huge step for me. I decluttered a ton of baby toys and my husband was reminiscing and felt bad I was getting rid of items. So that was tough, but I had to remind him we don't plan on having any more kids and most of the baby items we received were hand-me-downs from friends.
Baby things can be so hard! I like to keep a few outfits per kid (like 1 or 2), plus a pair of shoes and maybe one toy…like the seahorse
Hilarious video and so true 😂
Thanks Loretta!
I enjoyed this it’s like for me it’s maybe a wedding gift from 36 years ago like a crystal bowl and just haven’t decluttered it ( I don’t ever use it) don’t even know who gave it lol
I felt so guilty when I threw things away 😬
Empathy and care for objects that don't possess feelings thoughts or otherwise is something I've struggled with my entire life LOL 😆
It has made decluttering a little harder but I get it done 🙂
What an amazing video 👏🏿
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼✨
Great video!! Love it Robyn!! :) xoxo
Thank you Elisabeth!
Just keep the tassels on the cap!
Thank you Parker!
I love that video.. ur funny😂❤
Thanks so much! 😂🎄✌🏼
Awesome ❤
Am I weird? Bc I don’t put personality to inatimate objects.
Haha, I’m pretty sure I’m the weird one
LoL. I'm one of those obnoxious people that are not attached to anything. I cannot sympathize (or is it empathize?) with people who are attached to things. But I have watched enough CZcamss like this one to be able to offer people gentle, caring advice. or forward them the CZcams, all the while I'm thinking, "just get rid of the stuff."
❤️🇨🇦❤️
Thanks Donean!
