  • On Saturday the 28/7/18 I had a ride on the Bucharest Metro in Romania, line M1-3 all usd fairly modern and clean stock. Line 4 however the trains are an absolute state both inside and out, plastered in graffiti. I believe these are being replaced soon anyway.
    All filmed on the 28/7/18.
    Enjoy!

    I actually like the old Astra stock and the graffiti has become iconic, its accepted and some of it is awesome, not just random tags, but proper urban murals. Bit of a shock when you first see one pull up, but then you realise thats its actually pretty cool....I think.

      When I was first in Rome I thought the B line trains (also covered in graffiti) were gross, but I actually gained an appreciation for the color the graffiti added to the otherwise bland looking trains during my stay. Ultimately from the looks of it, the M4 trains actually look kinda cool when juxtaposed with the gray walls and floors of the stations.

    I am compiling a video of metro systems in europe: I have not had a chance to film this system and was wondering if I could use 30 seconds of your footage? I would be more than happy to list your channel as credits under the description once I upload the video

    Currently there are no plans to replace the remaining old Astra IVA trains, for now. Probably until line M6 and the south extension of line M4 will be completed, they will replace the old trains.

      Și metrourile din Paris, Roma sau Viena mai folosesc garnituri vechi și în zilele de astazi

      I heard the exact opposite, that they are planning to replace them

      @@bwoah7 Unfortunately, we now also have old IVA trains on line 3. Why is that? Because the new metro line no. 5 is about to open very soon, most likely this autumn/winter. It can not be opened with very old communist trains. For now, u can only see the IVA trains during weekends, as that's the only time they are doing tests with Bombardier Movia trains from the line no. 3. But what's interesting is that they are also testing IVA trains on the new line, I don't really know why, perhaps because they realsie that 8 trains will not be sufficient and possibly 4 extra IVA Astra trains will be added (in order to not have too many old trains on line 3 or avoiding seeing IVA on line 1)?The line 4 is not likely to get new trains anytime soon, but that's most likely due to how the system was made, both BM1/2 and CAF BM3 are incompatible on this line. 5 IVA trains will be allocated to line no.3 once the new metro line no. 5 will be opened, but only until 2023, when Alstom will deliver it's first subway liners for the new line. (5). By that time, the BM trains will return to line 3.

    This metro is scary as hell with its extremely narrow platforms

      Yes, the platforms in afterthought station Piața Romană are even narrower since the introduction of the CAF stock on M2.

    • @bullet4g
      @bullet4g Před 4 lety +2

      only 1 station is like that Piata Romana. They said that it was actually build against the orders of the Commie Party ( they said its no need for a station there) the engineers build anyway but had to make it like that to hide it at the beginning.

    • @bwoah7
      @bwoah7 Před 4 lety

      @@bullet4g Yeah kind of. It's a stange story anyway. This station was supposed to exist, but then it was not because Elena Ceausescu said no. However, the workers built secretly because they knew it will be requested after the line opens, which eventually hapapened. That's it for short

    I'm surprised seriously that old trains are in grafitti. There is no security in the depo?

      There are not only depots, there are also siding lines, which are not secured (but there is security in trains, tho most of the times it's sleeping)

    • @bwoah7
      @bwoah7 Před 4 lety +1

      Line M4 (where these old trains go) had no depot until 2018. The trains were so held moatly in sidings, and grafitti "artists" were all over them. Also, such "artists" suplosedly came from all over Europe to paint on our trains :(
