I had a 2018 ZR2 Colorado with the Duramax diesel, till December 8, 2021, when a speeding driver knocked us off the freeway at 100 mph. The truck had 77,000 miles and had averaged 21.9 mpg overall. We put a lot of miles on the truck with four passengers, sometimes driving as far as 500 miles at a time. The back seat is not super comfortable, but it does the job. Way bigger and more comfortable than the Tacoma. I am considering buying another one when the 2023’s come out.

Im with you on the Diesel Colorado. I had a 2020 TRD Pro Tacoma and sold it for the 2021 Diesel Colorado. Fuel economy is phenomenal.
I might add I put a GDE 50 state legal tune on mine and its night and day from stock. 220HP 440TQ. Fuel economy the same.

I've run their Prinsu rack on my 17 ZR2 for years. If you are comfortable running a drill and a tape measure, you can install it yourself. Use a bunch of painters tape on the roof, a step bit like he says, and take your time. I managed the entire thing solo, but a second set of hands would have been nice. The truck is stored outside and the finish has held up great.
Love the overall look of this specific truck. The Covert bumper and bare rear bumper give it a very "sporty" look. I bet it looks amazing without the tent. Someone needs to build one like this with the single cab. Not needing a huge lift with the 35's helps a bunch too.

Definitely do 4:10 gears or 4:56 gears! Get you mpg back and do a FULL delete to it as well, HP goes from 186 to 212 hp and Torques goes from 369 to 420 ft lbs tq and you gain 5 mpg across the board!! 👍

anything over 20mpg would be amazing. I know it really helps with range but when taken into account the price of regular and diesel the cost per mile isn't always less with a diesel. But to have that range and that torque would be pretty sweet in my 80 series Land Cruiser.

I think the elephant in the room is long term reliability. I've owned a 1989 Chevy S10 4x4, '95 & '08 Suburban and while good trucks, they required more and more maintenance as they aged, especially the '95 Burb, but I did get 257K miles out of it.
The '08 Burb required all new door lock actuators in the first 2yrs, new lift gate wiring harness, new valve springs and the motor eventually blew at 186K (it was treated very well). On the fence between the '23 Taco & redesigned Colorado; leaning waaaay toward Taco.

Thank for the great video! This is an extremely amazing build! I've been really impressed with my 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 3.6 Gasser. It's stock capabilities have been amazing! I do wish I had opted for the 2.8 diesel, but inventory was dismal, and build Lead Out times were insane! Also I wish it came from the factory with the ability to run a slightly larger tire without body, or suspension modifications. My truck only has 7500 miles on it, and I didn't want to void the warranty by customizing it just yet. I wish there was a way to get some work done while still retaining the factory warranty. Huge bummer. By the way..... I have seen people cut out the black slit bumper molding below the headlights, and install a couple Rigid Cube fog lights in them. It looks pretty decent.

I just got done driving a Colorado for a few weeks. It’s had less than 33k miles and it had a bad wheel bearing and two bad ball joints. Definitely not Toyota quality. I will admit, it did have more power (on one less cylinder) and smoother power delivery on top of a better shifting transmission than a Tacoma. When in the middle of nowhere and completely reliant on my vehicle, I’ll take quality and reliability over horsepower though. If Toyota built a Tacoma with a turbo diesel, a properly shifting transmission, a fully boxed frame, and a locking front diff it would be RIP for the Colorado.
