I remember first hearing this at the soulfolks opening, every time I hear it, I go back there. It was slow, a dirge, ro‘s vocals seeming to want to push past the phrases, past the bar line. And when the chorus hit, ro turned to stage right and just banged his head from the hip, up and down to the quarter note while reciting this pseudo-mantra: “if life were a dream of euphoria, we would not have schizophrenia or paranoia.” It was just so manic, like banging his head was the only way to communicate, the only way to understand and be understood.
