I have a story with my friends!went bike riding with my friends and I took my beach cruiser. Yeah needless to say I fell 3 times pretty bad bc wheel nut came off. Also my brake pads were horrid and barely stopped
My buddy wanted to get into mountain biking. His first bike was a $6500 Santa Cruz. Dude is enjoying the bike and still going for it but damn he bought an expensive bike. He also works for DNR and gets paid like $45k a year. So definitely hanging on the edge of affordable.

I have a crazy mountain biking story but it doesn't involve huge drops or jumps it involves a beaver running into me and snapping my derailleur cable 100% true
One extremely, extremely important pre-requisite forgotten (but still shown right in the video): use exclusively tires with a contrasting sidewall. Another one - but again, portrayed correctly in the video - somehow, after all that riding, be - and stay - extremely fat for some reason. Sorry, couldn't resist. For me the last one just isn't happening, no matter how hard I try - probably the weekly 100 kms to blame.
Price of bikes is so ridiculous now days and all you are getting is more potential problems. Carbon frame, expensive components etc. It's nice to hit a rock or bottom out and literally not care at all.
You mean the best you can get for the money? Sometimes it’s a game of affordability, and Canyon unfortunately has the market cornered on pricing with their direct to consumer model. I’ve also had much better customer service from Canyon than other major brands. Canyon forgot to put a shock pump in the box with my Stoic, and it shipped with a manufacturer defect brake rotor. One email was all it took, the pump shipped immediately and they cleared me to spend up to $70 to get the rotor replaced and credited my account accordingly. On the other hand, the skewer on my daughter’s Marin came apart in my hands from catastrophic failure on a two week old bike that had only had the tire removed three times, Marin never even got back to me. I know it’s a cheap part, but it’s telling they wouldn’t even get back to me. My wife’s LIV (Giant) had a couple small issues, but they insisted it be taken to a dealer so I just did it myself due to fuel pricing.
