- thanks so much for tuning into another fine episode of FSRC! Today we are going to be working on the new Mad Van from Kyosho! I have selected a few key upgrades that are really going to make this 10th scale monster truck rip!First lets start with the power, I chose a Hobbywing Max10 120amp esc and their 4600kv 3660 motor. this is a super potent combo for any 10th scale rc. this system will allow battery use up to 4s! although, even 3s with 4600kv is mental! Continuing on with the upgrades we have the ever important center shaft from Kyosho. This upgrade is an absolute must when going to brushless power. The part number from Kyosho is FAW210. Next up on my factory upgrade list is the aluminum motor mount and let me tell you, that's a beautifully made piece of kit. its part number is FAW217. This upgrade will help keep the motor super secure and lined up when youre out really bashing the truck! The final piece from Kyosho is going to be FAW213, this is the steel 75t spur gear, again this is being added to aid in reliability (plus it sounds way cooler) The last thing you will need is at least a 22t pinion gear! I chose Robinson Racing on this.
Thanks so much for tuning in today. If you enjoyed the video please SUBSCRIBE! give me thumbs up and leave me a comment down below! Stay RAD!
Nice video on upgrades. You do a great job on explaining everything so someone new to RC like me understands. Can’t wait to see it in action.
Mission accomplished then! Im happy to be able to help
@@FreshSqueezedRC Hey man quick question I upgraded with the same setup for my bro's Madvan it was a gift to him, the 12t Pinion Input gear keeps getting shredded after a few runs, have gone through 2 now, did you have this issue? Anything that can be done about it? Seems like the setup is too powerful for the gears.
Nice tool kit and that thing really rips now wow!😍😍
Definitely looking forward to seeing this thing rip!! Thanks for the great install
Vid!!✌🏻
Thank you i appreciate that!! The shred is real on this new setup!
Great video buddy ! I am loving the mad van in stock form. That thing looks mental with those upgrades !
No doubt about that! It rips super hard now
Great got my first RC this week and it’s this Mad Van.
Super rad man! Enjoy, and thanks so much for watching
Great is it fast
Awesome upgrades and nice video
Great video, I'm sold!
That things a maniac now!
Yessir! Certified ripper 100% thanks for watching brotha!
🙌 Awesome upgrades Brotha!!! The toolset looks Amazing too !! Looking forward to seeing the skatepark beat down!!! Stay Rad
Thank you for watching it dude! The tool set is really nice, that roll is super convenient. Skate park coming soon, currently its raining. 😔😔😔😔
I just got done doing mine today, Waiting on the mount from Kyosho but gonna run it until it comes in, Only problem I had was the steel spur is -1 tooth so had to gear up a bit to get that stupid motor mount to mesh right, Thanks for the video it was a big help 👊
Eryn Barefoot I’m in the same boat, waiting for the mount, so you just using the stock mount?
Oh yeah👍👍👍
Great informative video it was a lot of help, got the parts in the mail yesterday. I put everything together ran it today and destroyed the 3.17mm bore 22T pinion gear from Robinson Racing. I am running the stock motor I set the motor mount on A like you did on the video guess I got on it too hard. It was fun while it lasted had a blast with the kids. I ordered a hardened steel one this time looking forward to getting back on it.
I didn't see grease on them gears
@@kajex1rc351 I run nearly all my cars pinion dry. Never had an issue.
Nice upgrades i'm getting the 2020 Mercedes and putting the HW 4000KV set up like you just did should be a fast car
Great vid man! I was wondering if you had a part number for the metal outdrive cups that you were saying were getting worn. Thanks bud, this thing is an animal!
You maniac!! This is the one rig that's staying stock for me. I do like that Fazer chassis, may get one of the on road cars and go bushless with it. Either way, awesome stuff my dude. 🍻👍👊
Thank you man! Much appreciated! Its definitely overkill
@@FreshSqueezedRC
You and the release of the new Associated basher inspired me to put a 3300kv BL set up in mine in the near future. Gotta get the motor plate and driveshaft upgrades. Maybe throw some bigger MT tires and wheels on there too, give it a little weight. The new AE MT10 jammy halls on 3s and is about the size of the MV. Figured upgrade whats I gots instead of running out buying another truck that's not really that different.
Nice, something for me to think about doing in a few months maybe 🤔
Im glad to be of service! And thanks for watching!
Fresh Squeezed RC Still waiting for the mount, can I still use the stock mount?
New subscriber here. I’m buying one of these from another fellow CZcamsr. Needs a motor. I’m thinking might as well go brushless . Great video
wondering if you know where to get the center aluminum drive shaft and upgraded motor mount? Kyosho and several other places are sold out online.
Excellent build video, very informative! I have a question though. With the aluminum motor mount, wouldn't be counterintuitive to put the cardboard motor spacer on there? From what I know it's to prevent the heat of the motor from deforming the plastic motor mount. With the aluminum, the motor mount should really be in direct contact with the motor to act like a heatsink no?
Hey dude awesome job! The lighting at the beginning is on point! Is that motor esc a little overkill for a drift set up? Asking for a friend ... lol
I appreciate you checking it out brotha! That setup will work fine for drifting and lots more. Just run 2s. But I think a little better option would be another system, a little lower cost, lighter weight and higher kv. Shoot me a dm on Insta and we can talk
Hi cool video Can you please test to rip it a little on 4s to see how much power it gets😃👍
So How great is this Truck I love the look. I was thinking of getting this mad van or the traxxas stampede 4x4, Question witch truck is more Durable .
Like 👍
Are your differential’s stock? If not how are they holding up?. Also how did you mount the skull to the body?
Did you use the 22t pinion as in the description or the 21t you showed in the video ? The reason i ask is someone on a forum stated that you need at least a 23t pinion to use with the 75t spur conversion to get the correct mesh using the A set of mounting holes on the motor mount plate.
Any run vids? Am doing the same to mine just waiting on alloy centre shaft, cool vids dude😀
Yep! I'll have an update video up very soon
Sweet🤙
I know I'm a little late but where did u find this stuff? And what servo are you running?
Hey bud, you mention 21t pinion in the video, but write 22t in the description, which one is correct?
By chance where did you get that wera screwdriver set from ? I'm definitely interested and in need of that same set when I'm wrenching on my RC's
Fresh squeezed rc I want to upgrade my mad van to do more mph is this the only way to do that or is there other motors to get without having to do esc upgrades and everything like that??
My wish is a link list...these parts arent easy to find. Be using ure vid for a guide line..and thanks!
Were did you get the upgrade parts from
What suspension arms are u using. I got my mad van and broke both front arms first day! 😢 and parts are hard to get in australia
i want the number of motor gear ,because i can not find the 5mm hold gear.
What is the part number for the tool kit?
does a 3660KV motor have more torque than a 4660KV?..
Wondering about the spur gear, I slapped a hobbywing ezrun10 in my madvan and I forgot to take the punch level down and immediately shredded the spur gear 🤦🏻♀️ lol
Are you sure you had the motor position correct? I run plastic spurs on my 6s burnout car and have never cleaned the teeth off one. Just to be safe triple check
@@FreshSqueezedRC yeah I was just too excited I guess I didn't adjust accordingly. Gonna get the motor mounting plate as well!
Fresh squeezed! Huge fan. Just did this swap with the Reddy 3300kv. Running the 75t steel kyosho spur gear, which pinion would you recommend? Keep it shreddy!!!
I'd go with a 24t or higher. But, the motor mount markings will no longer matter. You'll have to play with placement to get what you need exactly.
Would you know of any alternative spur gears. I cannot find the replacement and my stock is stripped
Thank you brother! Been playing with the 24-26t gearing, the mad van is a whole new animal now
Great Video. I have a question...is the drive cup where the center drive shaft goes in from metal?
No the drive cups are plastic. They make steel cups, but I prefer the plastic ones.
Thank you for your quick reply. Do you think the plastic ones will last long with the metal center drive shaft?
@@veitwinter7956 oh yes. You shouldn't have any issues for a while.
@@FreshSqueezedRC Thank you very much.
Could you please tell me the gear pitch for the pinion you used?
48p. Im currently on a 25t pinion I believe
Where did you find the spur gear 76 tooth and center shaft????
Kyoshoamerica.com
@@FreshSqueezedRC those are completely out to stock everywhere. Sucks. I stripped the stock one pretty quick with my setup.
Ciao, potrei sapere tutti i codici degli upgrade che hai montato sul mad van, dal motore alla corona posteriore, te ne sarei grato
If I'm running stock is it worth it to change out the spur and pinion for reliability? Also is there much of a difference? Seems like top speed would go down, but maybe more acceleration if I calculated correctly...actually think other way around, higher top speed
If you're running stock I wouldn't worry about changing it
@@FreshSqueezedRC thanks! one day i might go brushless but not so powerful lol, i love the stock handling so something similar
Hi. i love your video. , i have just got a Dodge charger Fazer mk2. i have bought hobby wing MAX 10 Combi with the EZRUN 3652 4000kv motor & the MAX10 60a ESC. can i use the same parts as you are doing on the Mad Van. Thanks
Yes but I would skip the steel spur gear. It isn't needed
@@FreshSqueezedRC Thanks Very Much. i appreciate it. Keep the videos coming.
If I put in a 75 tooth spur gear and a 23 tooth pinion gear, will it go any faster than it will be out of the box?
Not really.
Great content since day 1...Thanks for Keeping it real my friend.. @emodified_78_rc
Thanks for all of your support brother
@@FreshSqueezedRC please send link to upgraded parts thanks
Hey guys I’ve replaced my spur gear twice! Kyosho is nice enough to take care of it with no charge. Any idea what’s causing it to strip? Thanks in advance
Stock plastic?
Fresh Squeezed RC yes
@@Jcortez2214 the steel spur shown in this install video is my suggestion.
Anyone knows if the stock 60a esc can handle 3s lipo??
Yes, the stock esc will run 3s no problem. Dont expect the stock brushed motor to last though.
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe .
First
Anyone bothered to stick a heatsink on the stock motor? Gets pretty hot when I run it on grass.
Brushed motors get hot in general. You should be fine. 2s?
Thanks man. Yeah 2s. First time it got too hot to touch yesterday.
Would I be able to run this fully stock but with 3s
Yes, but don't expect the motor to last long.
@@FreshSqueezedRC ok ill probably upgrade to brushless then
I had to space motor as shaft was hitting tub🙄
Did you use the plastic motor mount?
Ye ,, iv had one on order since January (Uk) is the alloy one thicker? Iv got all the other upgrades except mount
@@5tbadger indeed the alloy mount prevents that.
Thought so!! Cheers
