I remember Art crying with Mike and Dog during his last show with them. After he was fired.

If the Mets had a manager that showed a pulse I think they would’ve had a better record in 04. They should’ve fired Howe in June when they got rid of the hitting coach.

Makes you wonder how he lost the weight. God knows it wasn't from exercising. Too much of a fat lazy bastard for that.

Art was a great guy but not the right fit for N.Y. It sounds like he was second guessing himself a lot..perhaps, due to the pressure of the fans and media.
That being said, there were also much bigger issues. Scouting, team philosophy, etc...
    2005 was better though.

As bad as this season was the Mets swept the Yankees at Shea. I was at the Saturday game surrounded by obnoxious NYY fans. Sweet win.

At least Yankee fans have a reason to be obnoxious. Met fans are obnoxious when they have absolutely no reason to be.

Well they have had two Championships. I feel they get that rep because they are compared to the Yankees. They didn't destroy Piazza's career. Also have two World series appearances in 20 years. Just need to win one again soon.

Always took pride as a Mets fan that it was so tough to manage here that this cream puff pretty much moved to the Ozarks and disappeared from public view after coaching us!! Love New York’s ability to humble a person so badly they turtle up for life!! 💯

@@Pradical its not that he wasnt ready for NY. Its that he wasnt ready to be the main guy on the lineup. He wanted to go to the Yankees or Astros because both teams had tons of star players, so he wasnt going to be looked at as the main guy. And with the Yankees, he wasnt going to be the highest paid player on the team either. I mean, seriously, for Beltran, to come to the Mets, their highest paid guy ever at the time, and not wanting to be seen as the guy. WOW
Yes, I remember how Looper and the rest of the Mets bullpen blew alot of Pedro's great games in 2005. He should have won the Cy Young,
