Beetronics FX have aptly named their pedal which constructs a fuzzy Swarm of harmonies above and below your head. The Swarm is completely analog and begins by converting your signal into a square wave fuzz, which is adjusted by the Worker knob. That signal is then split and manipulated to produce two separate voices one octave apart from eachother (Queen, Drone). But it doesn’t stop at octaves, the Species control selects 9 intervals to give you huge, synth-like leads or fat, complex bass with various harmonies (Maj2, Unison, Min7, 5th, Unison and more). Beetronics also give these two voices a bit of character with the interactive Flight and Sting controls, adding modulation to their signal much like the pitch wheel of a synth. These controls also allow you to glide between notes at various speeds and end on a dynamic pitch bombs then drops when you stop playing.
As with other Beetronic FX, the Swarm is hand built in the California, wired for true bypass and beautifully styled inside and out. Check out Beetronicsfx.com for this and other unique designs.

That King Crimson - Red intro is EPIC!
I can't believe someone actually pulled off "Red". Cheers for that, man, that has made my week!
The tabs were around since years
What song/band?
@@bobbyblair6862 Red by King Crimson!
@@guitaristssuck8979 Dude, its impressive even knowing who the band is!
Have to laugh. I don't know the specific song, but when it started my first thought was "Man, does that ever sound like he's going for a King Crimson thing!".
I can see using this on every song, especially "My Heart Will Go On"
Beetronics has the best looking pedals in the game by far
And they do it at a reasonable price point.
Red by King Crimson was in Kurt Cobain's top 10 albums. Andy's interpretation of this is superb
I saw them 4 times in concert probably before Kurt was born.....but that cool that he liked it.
Was interested in the Swarm when it first came out.
Watched 3 other demos & all caused less interest.
Dude plugs in & 12 minutes later I'm checking what's in my account 😊.
Andy gives the best demos. 🤘🏼
I bought one and it's got a permanant place on my board. But, at first, I thought it wasn't right for me.
I am a synth jammer. This is now my favorite guitar pedal.
Every fuzz pedal demo I watch I walk away thinking “it’s cool but my Fuzz Factory can do all that.”
My Fuzz Factory can’t do any of this.
I actually laughed out loud a couple of times watching this because the tones are totally nuts.
This pedal is like unleashing the Locusts from Revelation upon your audience.
My Fuzz Factory once tricked my P90s into picking up Ukranian folk rock, but I'm pretty the Swarm could do that and also add harmonies.
The Fuzz Factory is definitely wild. I have a DIY kit I built based on the Fuzz Factory and it’s very interesting, has lots of wild sounds.
@Leo Trindade It's all about balance, I've found. If you concentrate on only one direction, you will inevitably OD .
The Germanium components in the Zvex assure that you will never get the same sound twice( which is cool.).This is simultaneously broader and more controlled in it's parameters.
DUDE! Nailed it. Still the gnarliest piece of music ever written
Thanks so much!! It’s a monster, I remember that early mix someone leaked without the harmonies (taken down) and it was still epic. Wetton’s bass really carries it.
@@AndyDemos For sure! That trio version was badass. All the KC stuff just hit streaming recently, I wonder if that's up? It was from some kind of box set release I think.
yeah? i love some KC but I've never heard that particular song being championed as a favorite. just shows how much good material they have i guess.
@@amphitheatre That whole era, the Bruford-Wetton years, is a lot of people's favorite. Red, Lark's Tongue, Starless - super heavy, gnarly stuff. A crucial precursor to what people think of as "math rock" now.
@@HarshTonesInc my fav era too no doubt, just never heard of such love for that specific track, was all i was saying.
This guy has become like my favorite guitar player. From back when he used to to do the demos for that guitar store. Its rare that a guitar player just catches my attention like David Gilmore style. But this dude has done it over and over.
Nobody will ever sell a pedal better than that KC intro does. Only got one kidney left but still tempted to sell it to buy the Swarm
So glad you enjoyed it! I waited a long time to find a pedal that could pull this song off.
_Red!!_ Well done, my friend!! The world is long overdue for a Fripp-aissance!
Andy really said: "stoner doom metal but make it prog"
The KC cover was the most musical thing anyone has done _or will do_ with this shriekbox, that was AMAZING
KING CRIMSON 4EVER.
RIP JOHN WETTON
Fun … Sounds like a well built fuzz with which to sit in the sandbox with one’s guitar and let “the kid” out of one’s heart😊.
🎸👨🏼⚕️🫶✌️♾️. Thank you for your hard work and presentation.
BROOO that red intro was so epic and out of bounds. Great work, luv your channel
Thanks a ton! Glad you found the channel ✌️
You dropped the bomb on this demo. Ended our blowfly sets with that for 9 years.
The swarm is what won me over to Fuzz. I like the octahive and whoctahell as well, but the upper/lower hormonic potential of this one, in a single pedal, is the bees knees!
hitting us with the crimson was a nice choice
Best Andy Demos Intro Ever!!!
Laughing when this starts. Andy you sly dog you did it again. Just killer.
wgb01001 Glad you enjoyed it!! ✌️
I’d love to see you somehow work in Fracture 😆
Beetronics got me from the very COOLEST DESIGN ANY PEDAL COULD HAVE and then Andy came with King Crimson. Ok, I need this pedal.
holy crap! early King Crimson! Awesome rendition!!
oh, and by the way, great pedal!!
What song and when?!
Spaghettaboutit Red in 1974
David Justice haha I meant when does Andy play it, but I seems like it's the opening if I hear correctly now that I know what song to listen for. Thanks!
Spaghettaboutit sorry about that lol
I just had a vision of a band forming around this pedal and it's sound.
Beautifully constructed is right- this pedal is a work of art
Holy shit - red played with this box totally rules!
King Crimson, my man!
Sick demo. Andy killing it as always. I wanna play the Galaga theme song with this thing
This made me laugh I don't know why 😂 I instantly imagined it hehe
Funny, I was just thinking you could do a completely accurate version of the opening music for the game Wizard of Wor, or even Defender. Loving it!
Man, you nailed with Red... never would expect that.
Thanks so much, I was surprised myself 😃
You nailed Red 🕯️👁️🕯️
Sounds Like it should be an Early GENESIS ALBUM - and I'm a Fan of IT!!! You Definitely Should Do Something With It.
Love this demo, love this pedal!!!! Great job, Andy!
After previously owning an EQD Data Corrupter, I’m convinced the Swarm is actually a PLL synth.
Great playing!
I love these Beetronics pedals for their style and how the knobs are called, very unique!
Just wow Andy, you've killed that one!!!
@Andy: I've always thought your demos have been among the very best in every respect, but this time I believe you've topped yourself! Amazing finger picking, as usual...
Thanks Andy for playing ''Red" in the demo, all my fears about Swarm scattered after watching this, cause there are couple of demos where people can't actually use the pedal for what it is made, I am not a pedal collector to buy an expensive pedal just for fun. EQD Data Corrupter does not sound such fat and fuzzy, and also not such crazy, yes the word crazy is the correct form to call to Beetronics Swarm, I've just made a purchase, my moog and prophet will be on steroids soon!
V2 should be called "Murder Hornets"
You're amazing. My Swarm just showed up today. Wow, it's awesome. HUGE SOUNDS.
Soon as I seen you had your own channel, had to follow you Andy! I've been watching your pedal reviews for years, it's so cool to see you have your own channel!
Best Demo Jam ever...Long Live the (Crimson) king.
goodness yes you nailed that
Now I *really* want to go back and rerecord this. Great job as always!
Jeff McClelland Thanks for the help 😉
Okay, you don't usually see Andy smile that much during a demo, awesome.
Reminds me of the Plasma Coil pedal in sound, absolutely gorgeous pedal aesthetically
it’s the best fuzz ever made fight me
Wouldn’t it be weird if Andy played bass with a pick?
King Crimson . wow that was awesome! sounds great!
I couldn't decide between the Swarm or the Poly Blue Octave... Until I heard you play Red on the Swarm. King Crimson are responsible for my top 2 guitar songs of all time, Red being one of them. Buying on Reverb now.
Happy to help!!
It is like the MXR blue box but actually useable! Sick pedal
MelechAharon Yes, there are some very Blue Box-like settings. Nails the Fool in the Rain solo for sure 👌
Love that intro jam! Sick pedal.
Dude you just killed that intro
Beetronics + King Crimson = Shut up and take my money.
I'm hearing some retro video sounds in there too. So sick!
Great sounding pedal. I could spend days just getting to know it. Cheers Andy
I haven't seen you have that much fun with a pedal in some time!
The inspiration for this pedal HAS to be the solo from Smashing Pumpkins “Zero”. It’s some huge harmonizer glitching fuzz sound, like maybe a harmonizer and a whammy set so they can’t track properly. This pedal is 95% that sound, and I’ve been looking for it a long time
I think that was actually run through something they ripped out of a synth, as well as the Muff and/or Fender Blender.
Nic Cage is not a fan of this pedal.
This is an underrated endorsement of said pedal. Im getting one now…
Awesome that you played The Gap Band lick!
King Crimson!👏
I'm gonna need all the Beetronics, please.
Buy it you won’t be disappointed. I have never played a pedal I literally could make sound like drag racing coming out of my room
Oh cool, Andy does a video on Beetronics. BAM!!! RED
Mannn, this pedal looks so fun to demo. Great demo BTW!
That is one sick looking pedal. Fuzz isn’t really my think but look at it....
I was looking for a smaller alternative to the Data Corrupter specifically because I wanted to nail that sound from Red. And here I found myself, listening to Andy playing that song. Because he's the best 😊
Ahh that’s a crazy coincidence! Happy to help 👊
Been watching Andy for a few years now, its hard to know if the pedal is good or not cause this cat makes everything sound good
RED!!!! Yea! - But Wow - the synth tones really sound amazing. Great demo!
Having owned this for about 6 months or so now, I'll say this: this gets a lot of attention for all the crazy noises, and I get why, but once you turn all that off (i.e. turn off everything but Worker), it's just a really, really good modern-sounding fuzz pedal. It has a very smooth, even character. If I play my Muff right afterwards the Muff sounds really "filtered" and weird. Because it can go completely batshit insane everyone wants to do that on demos, but don't let that fool you: it is 100000% sensible and usable as well.
How would you compare it to a Tone Bender?
RED! Goosebumps
Sounds IDENTICAL to the synths on Crash Bandicoot 2's sewer levels. (Sorry for the obscure reference)
excellent demo!
I've always thought this pedal had a great design and Andy, you knock it out of the park. Sounds like it could seriously damage some speakers if you're not careful. Thanks. Amazing demo!
Hell yesssss fucking love that song! Killin' it Andy!
Omg, you didn’t just? Yes! Fantastic!!!!
9th mode sounded orgasmic. the other modes are almost annoying. I designed this in my mind years ago with the swarm fans.
I just watched another demo of this pedal by someone else and I thought it sucked. Andy, I'm jealous of your tone. All of the, :)
“THE SWARM ENDURES!” 😵
HOTS ref. 😂
"Black Night" by Deep Purple would sound killer with this
nice to see Andy playing a Burny
I'm a super simple dude and I don't run anything like that in my rig, but I would seriously consider this pedal. There's something different about it I can't quite put my finger on.
It's about 3 pedals in one that I was gonna combine lol
Oh my god that king crimson tone
Andy, been watching your videos for years now & yet, at 00:16 , I STILL try to see what pick you're using! I'll never learn, right?
Andy bringin the Crims!
Imagining Fripp was about to take this down but he was so in awe that he decided not to
King crimson cover. Nice
King Crimson!!!
I bet this would be perfect for the synth solo in Lucky Man.
To begin with, I thought that any fuzz pedal and Whammy could cover those tones. By the end, I thought very differently. Thanks for bankrupting me Andy.
Oh I want this.
woah, like queens of the stone age on EVEN MORE drugs
In the court of king andy!
@7:05 those sounds are straight out of the Pac Man game from Sega Genesis
Damn you for opening this video up with some King Crimson. I now have G.A.S.
This pedal is basically Eathquakers Data Corrupter, only it doesnt corrupt the signal, which is exactly what I want... looks like Im about to own both 🤷♂️
Oooooffftttt RED!
I watch these with the knowledge that the pedals won't sound this good with me playing through them.
This reminds me a lot Fuzz/Synth "into the unknown" from Parasit Studio.
Yes, same category: PLL
I could hear this on a Satch album
The Burny Les Paul sounds pretty good.
