We bought a greenworks tiller-dethacher combo from someone on Facebook. It cost us about $100 and we also use it every spring and fall to aerate our lawn. Also, we filled half the box with dried leaves from our yard and neighbors. Then we lined our bed with cardboard boxes to prevent weeds. This helped cut down our cost in addition to saving seeds from kitchen scraps and starting seeds during winter indoors. Our total cost per bed (2×12×6) came to about $70 including soil, material, and plants. The tricky and expensive bit was setting up an irrigation system for automated watering.
Where you are digging its on a slope. It might interfere with water flow during rains. Check with HOA if its ok.
Also look like the neighbor has a small one feet high retaining wall on which the fence is errected.
I would advise you to stay at least 16 inches away from. The fence. It will give you access on that side and wont damage the retaining wall and fence with water etc.
After spending all the money on vegetables, I planned to do the same. But I guess since I don't have my own house it will be best if I do it in a basket or something. Thank you❤
