Thank you to all my Patrons! - Zábava
40 years later it's just 3 friends jamming on stage having fun. Amazing.
The whole Moving Pictures album is a great headphones journey.
Wave..... I've seen Rush live 11 times. And each of the 11 times was incredible in its own right.
My daughters are 29 and 24 years old now..... but each got to see Rush live 3 times with me when they were young. I'm so glad I was able to share that with them then, and now they appreciate that they got to experience it. Because very few from their generation got to.
I just read your comment after I posted they're the #1 band I regret never seeing. Now I'm 11 times more depressed. Not your fault.
It always amazes me just how many people involved in music don't know Rush very well. They were one of the top grossing touring bands for decades. I just got lucky a friend of mine introduced me to them in high school back in 1987, I guess. I got to see them on their Test for Echo tour in Pittsburgh, and they sounded fantastic live.
First time hearing this, wow. Rush we’re an epic band. This is a song, you really need to listen to the lyrics being sung. The story is so cool. The “ gleaming air foil car, two lanes wide”, he racing away from that car, and strands it at a one lane bridge. Just a cool song lyric wise.
My exact first thought Jann 🤘
A gleaming alloy air car
Shoots towards me, two lanes wide
I spin around with shrieking tires to run the deadly race
The band I saw live the most, first concert in 1981. They were such a staple of my growing up, it felt like they would always be there to see, but that didn't happen. Thankfully I got to go to see them with my son on their second to last tour, a lifetime memory for both of us. Peace.
Picture Rush at Red Rocks with a thunderstorm in the background, syncronized with parts of 2112. Brother, I wish there was video of that show. It was supernatural.
A group of unbelievable musicians and composers at the top of their game. Enjoy. You won't get another.
always happy to see others enjoy my all time favorite band, RUSH. this album, MOVING PICTURES has no weak link and there are much stronger songs than this one on the album. I love every song and I still remember hearing them all for the first time driving my '77 T-bird and cranking the entire album from home down to play laser tag. The first song I heard on the album was actually the 1st song on SIDE B, because I was borrowing a friend's cassette and I would have had to rewind the entire tape to start at the first song on SIDE A (Tom Sawyer) so I started on my way with "The Camera Eye" which is still my favorite song to this day. (of all time of any band) So I would love to see you do a reaction to "The Camera Eye" studio & live. So glad you enjoy getting to hear some RUSH! thank you for this reaction. Felt it in my heart, I miss NEIL, huge influence on the soundtrack of my life.
That typical bassist from Rush... Is bit similar with my idol bassist "Bondan Prakoso" Wave, maybe one of his inspiration is from him hhe...
If curious about Geddy singing difficult melodies while playing bass ... check out "The Anarchist". Would be curious to your thoughts as Geddy said it was the hardest to do (he actually thought it impossible when he realised what he'd have to do)
For someone who has about 15 songs in his top five, this one is pretty consistently number one. To me, it feels every bit as big as any of their “epics”, but is a mere six minutes-ish. I can’t express how much I miss these guys. I had the privilege of seeing them live 50 times, starting in 1984 when I was 16 years old.
Rush is #1 on my list of bands I regret never getting to see. Especially when I had opportunity but, never took it. They will just have to live on in my ears and on YT.
Three Master Musicians. Imo, greatest 3 piece band ever was, ever will be.
This song sounds best when listened to while driving. The faster the better. 🙂
My favorite Rush tune.
You must & i mean must listen to Xanadu live & La Villa Strangiato live... these 3 guys will blow your mind, take it from a Canadian who has seen them dozens of times...cheers from Port Perry Ontario Canada
Great reaction! I'm an old bass player myself so I always like it when people compliment Geddys playing rather than his singing. So you mentioned admiring Al's use of natural harmonics and knowing where they all are and I thought I'd give you a pretty easy tip that will unlock a lot of the mystery: pick any string. Works on all of them. You Play a series of three harmonics, one at a time, starting with the harmonic at the 5th fret...then the next at the 4th fret and then end with the harmonic you get just slightly past the 3rd fret (not slightly before or on the fret like the other two but just ever so slightly past it)and SHAZAM! You get the major triad for that string. So for example if you Play those 3 harmonics on the E string you get E G# B - the notes of the E Major chord...if you do the same on the A string, BOOM! A C# E - the notes of A Major. It's the same for every string. Those 3 harmonics all next to each other make the major triad for whatever open string you Play them on. Hope that made sense. It's the key to unlocking the natural harmonics and it's really pretty simple. Anyway, hope you have some fun with that, keep up the good work and keep those Rush reactions coming!
Great song. Always awesome live.
Thks for the awesome sauce. Rush live was always magical/special. Time after time!
It was a hard "ch" but they didn't have the Internet back then, so they pronounced the "ch" in Barchetta softly.
Definitely red barchetta was my favorite song to see them do live, I saw them eight times between 1981 and 92', luckily, they did this song every show.
I get what you were trying to say. Alex provides the atmosphere, Geddy lays down awesome bass lines while singing, and Neil is the driving force.
Listening to this for 40 years and you taught me some stuff!😊. Love your review, more Rush please!
A well done reaction. I like it when someone with a musical background points out some of the intricacies of what goes into Rush's music.
I was lucky enough to catch Rush live in early 1980, a year before they released their Moving Pictures album featuring this song.
I was lucky to have seen them live 5 times between the mid 1980s and the early 1990s. Always a mind blowing experience.
Check out the intro to this concert! R30 - Best intro, ever!
Simply the BEST!! RUSH no band comes close to these geniuses. Two living legends and one drummer that will live forever as the best ever. RIP Peart.
Thanks for reacting to a favorite of mine from Moving Pictures.
Always love your commentary and insights
Check out the live version of Natural science, and if your into the lyrics the studio version
One of my favorites of Al's solos
Wave the first song I ever learned on drums was kiss dr love . The second was side one 2112.
Changed my musical direction for the rest of my life
I’ve seen Rush 13 times over the years
Even named my son Peart
I miss Neil deeply
Great reaction to a great song! I've been lucky to have seen them 3 times. I loved that you did this song, just the other day when I arrived at work, I noticed a red Tesla with the plates RDBARCHTA.... oh the irony 🤔😂
Good points man.
just wow
There Were Giants In The Earth.
One of my life's regrets - i never saw them live... Damnit
best band in the universe!
The only band that sounds like RUSH is RUSH
Geddy is NOT making any new music at this time, actually. The two songs released as a bonus for buyers of his new memoir are actually leftovers from his solo album, My Favourite Headache, which was released in 2000.
Alex, on the other hand, is definitely still making new music. His big project is a band called Envy of None. The sound is definitely not Rush-like (pop-dance genre), but it's of high quality.
Their first album was released last year and is apparently going to be followed by a second album this year. No plans whatsoever to tour though.
Alex has also lent some of his virtuoso guitar magic to another band (not as a member but rather as a "featured" player on a number of tracks from its first, eponymous album). I heard the first track (which would have been called a single in days of yore), called Grace.
The band is called "Today is Yesterday." I've also read that Robby Krieger of the Doors contributed guitar to a few other tracks on the album. The style appears to be modern progressive rock.
You can find it easily on CZcams, if you're so inclined.
A rock musician whose never heard Rush...kay.
Who said I’d never heard Rush? I have a YYZ cover on this channel 😂
The GUITAR needs to be setup perfectly to get those harmonics...
So he's a "rock musician" and has never heard Red Barchetta? What rock has he been living under?
It’s only been playing on rock radio for 40 years cut him some slack 🤣
First?
yyzed...do some research and look it up...
YY ZED, not zee.
Zee for other people who arent Canadian retard
i don't buy it
Who is led Zep anyway, crappiest live band ever.
Very nice to see your musician appreciation. No disagreement buy whay about the story? Neil's writing of a fun adventure . Gotta open your MIND!
