If you're wondering why the video ends abruptly it's because there was once again an error in exporting the video. I've spent literally days and hours working on this video and I really tried my best to prevent this from happening but in the end I just gave up and decided to just upload this video even though there is an error at the end. I really hope this doesn't happen again. 3 mins at the end of the video is just gone... I was talking about my favorite kpop groups and songs so I'm sorry if you were looking forward to hearing about that. It's all gone now... :(
Also, I got a new camera so the video and audio quality should be better. I also apologize for the wind noises. That's how it sounds in real life too. It's very windy where I live and I live in a very old apartment so the windows aren't too good and it sounds super loud and annoying whenever there is wind.

Ateez and itzy have great stage presence!! But like all other 4th gen , their music is loud . Out of all albums , only txt and stayC bsides are somewhat good!! I bought enhypen dilemma BCS of my sister's recommendation !!! Disappointing!!!! Such a bad album !!! She again recommend a stray kids album that had sold a million copies. So I checked it out on Spotify first !! Just one good song !! That too a bside . Domino . When I asked her , why had she recommended such bad albums?? She asked me if I had checked the photo book 😅. So fans buy albums just for a photo book . This is the fans of 4th gen !!! 😔

It just really upsets me that Kpop isn't about music anymore, a lot of newer groups only focus on the choreos and visuals. I used to like it because of the music, but I guess I really only listen to other music genres in Korean but Kpop, that's the whole reason I don't like BTS anymore, the thing is that it's happening in the whole industry. I was an ARMY for 4 years, I unstanned in 2020 and I genuinely regret being a fan. I don't regret enjoying the music, I regret spending my time online on people that don't even know me as an individual instead of going outside and living my own life and not relating my identity and life to some dudes. You have to understand that korean idols who grew up in korea are never going to be as 'woke' as international fans expect them to be. Korea is a deeply conservative society, and it is extremely homogeneous. They are not taught about things like colorism and cultural appropriation in school, these are things that have a very low level of awareness in korean society in general. Unless an idol speaks fluent english it is highly unlikely they would ever come into contact with concepts that international fans always bring up like colorism, fat phobia, cultural appropriation etc. In asian society as a whole, calling people dark and fat etc is simply not seen as problematic, they just see it as being honest and these beauty standards are literally thousands of years old. And as for cultural appropriation, most koreans do not understand what that is lol. Outside of america, the vast majority of people actually love it when foreigners take part in their culture, as long as they do it respectfully, as it makes them feel proud. This american concept of cultural appropriation is completely bizarre to them

Because lots of indians, especially south indians, have very dark skin they are very aware of the discrimination they face from their lighter skinned indian counterparts. Same as southeast asia, there's a wider diversity of skin colors in those countries so colorism is more apparent. Whereas most koreans are a light to medium skin tone, so most never face colorism and therefore don't understand it. Notice that the rare idols who have darker skin, like Kai from exo, who often get mocked for it, are always the ones standing up against colorism and praising darker skin tones. Whereas the average korean has a mindset that paler=prettier and they never question that because it's been their beauty standard for thousands of years and they've never experienced colorism directed negatively at themself

Since I got into kpop in late 2018 I've begun to realize that kpop isn't really about the music. The kpop industry is like a pie and music is one piece of the pie. When you first get into it you think they are selling the music, but with they way they are promoted(comebacks variety shows, photoshoots, etc.) It is obvious that the idols are selling themselves. It's also why plastic surgery is so prevalent in kpop too. Many celebrities undergo that because looking a certain way plays into the role of perfection and selling that particular image that can help them become successful(because even if you're not that talented at least you have your looks which can take you far). Im not criticizing the genre, I'm just stating the facts. Kpop is moreso about image then anything else.

From the food we eat, clothes we wear, the movies we watch, the entertainment industry in general etc. It's more of a society problem. Everything we consume isn't black or white. Life's like that too. It’s not like the world is a pure fairytale as well.
One thing i really admire about kpop is the effort in production. The music is so diverse, the mvs and set design are stunning, the fashion, the performances, the album designs. There is so much to admire. The people who work behind the scenes and the idols who perform on stage work so hard to make the art and music that makes me happy thus it really shouldn't prevent me from liking it and supporting their work. Ofcourse being obsessive about your idols is unhealthy. But i can still love them from the work they do and admire and support them from there. It's always who is the best dancer, which idol dates who, voting, streaming, scandals, and of course "my favourite group is better than your favourite group and it gives me a weird ego boost so im going to keep saying it".

I feel like I have found maybe like 3-4 good kpop CZcamsrs in a decade of being a kpop fan. It’s so hard to find good analytical content that focuses on music, production, cinematography, etc. Regardless of the fans and industry, there’s so much work going into it from producers, cameramen, editors, choreographers, and the idols. There’s so much conversation to be had about the art of kpop, but go onto any music video comment section, and it’s 90% surface level idol worship and brags about how their group is the best cause they said so

I'm a kpop stan but really dislike how some fans can get really obsessive and possessive over their favs :/ Like yeah I get it, they're really attractive, super charming, make great music and are fun to watch but that doesn't mean that you make them their life!!
Moreover, these fans absolutely CANNOT handle the idea of their faves being wrong or problematic. And of course since we're on the topic of possessive and obsessive, we gotta talk abt seasseng fans, the ones that breach idols' privacy, harass them, stalk them and even go as far as committing crimes to get them to notice their existence. One of the major putt offs in kpop for me are these "fans".
btw, great vid, you made great points and i totally agree w you :) I actually subbed to you for your other content but was surprised to see that you talking abt kpop haha. All of your vids are really fun to watch, keep up the good work!!

kpop rlly affected my life. i was 10 when i first listened to bts and 11 when i started "stanning" them. i started comparing myself to female kpop idols, i started starving in order to lose weight. and let me tell you, i was 40 kg at 147 cm and that was already underweight. i was so obsessed i even went so far as deciding my future career to be a kpop idol. i kept saying to myself "if you don't get skinny and pretty no one will like you" well, that phase is over for me. I'm turning 14 now, i gained weight and I'm still kind of insecure but way better than before.

I used to be a huge Army when I was about 13 (I'm 18 now) and as I got deeper in the kpop world, the more I hated it.
Some of the things that I hate about it is that many groups get a big fan base and people start stanning them hard even before they debut and release any song, just like literally any group from big companies and exactly like whats happening now with NMIXX. Their very first MV got MILLIONS of views in FEW HOURS just because of their "fans" though the song is literally trashy and has no good or even meaningful lyrics. It's quite similar to the situation of TXT, IVE, XDINARY HEROES... It's not about talent or actual good and meaningful music anymore, it's just about good advertisment and profit.
Another thing I hate is having to look perfect 24/7 and the insane beauty standards. Kpop fans don't actually care about the talent as much as they care about the looks, somebody had to say. Many of them would pick their bias in a group before they even get to know the group (ex: NMIXX stans) just because they look good. Also, the less good looking members/ the ones that arent the beauty standard will be called ugly eventhough they're very fine looking and talented (like ITZY's Chaeryeong, BTS's RM and Jhope... and they are all very good looking people).
And the list of similar things goes on but I think the comment is long enough so imma stop here.

I'm a KPOP fan for 15 years now. I also lost interest a couple of times along those 12 years. In those times, I usually take a month break or until I miss the watching the contents(because in between those breaks I still listen to kpop songs).
One thing I hated the most is fanwars, just because it gets crazy. Kpop fans that only joined the fandom these past 5 years might have not known that fanwars was more brutal during 1st and 2nd gen era.
Next is the aegyo. Aegyo is already in their culture. When Seo Taiji and Boys were still active they sometimes would have to do this (but not as cringey as today's generation). So yeah there's nothing we can do about it. It's their culture, we're just fans, just watching. We don't have a right to complain about something that they've been doing EVEN BEFORE WE JOINED THE FANDOM. I'm not okay with aegyos(but if my bias does it I sometimes forget for a split second that I hate it.)
And lastly, KPOP fans complaining too much. It's okay to complain actually, but every ffing time there's always videos about their opinions that does makes sense, but sometimes it would be better to keep it to their selves to ponder. As a Kpop fan, I honestly agree, The amount of racism and black fishing in the community, the awful music that's being released, the toxicity is too much.Kpop isn't the same anymore. It must've been hard to talk about this especially after your BTS video got ALOT of hate. Kpop Idols are seen as gods in this community, If they do something extremely bad (eg. A crime such as SA) they're forgiven and their fanbase act as if it didn't happen. It's normal for a Idol to get plastic surgery, but fans pretend as if their idol haven't gone through that, but, I can't stop them, once you look up to someone and they became your idol you tend to think their angels (I'm not saying this as excuse for them) I've also realised how westernized Kpop is nowadays, The choreography, the message of the song, THE AMOUNT OF ENGLISH LINES, I swear in NMIXX'S debut song "O.O" there were so many english lines, and if they were any Korean lines sung, they were accompanied by words that arent even translatable, eg. "Look at the moving eye, sh00g, sh00g"what does that mean??. BTS'S, new songs are all in English. I just hope Kpop doesn't stay this way, especially in the future. We Kpop stans need to stop being blind to the point where we overlook that our idols have done crime, have been racist or colorist, done awful things to their staff or members.I also remember a member of the girl Group "Oh my Girl" left because she was dealing with "Ana", it's the way so many people were reacting negatively towards that, this is the reason idols cannot and don't have a choice to open up about their lives or health. Alot of idols keep quiet about their health and how they feel, eg. Suga from BTS once hurt his shoulder but never opened up about it, then he had to get surgery. Honestly idols aren't "perfect" or "angels". We need to stop this whole view of idols like this, I have seen so many videos of people thinking that Idols are innocent but once they do something, they are labelled a perv, COME ONE THEY'RE ADULTS, Stop babying them. They have a mind of their own and now ALOT of stuff, so top thinking that "their innocent, they don't understand anything and we need to protect them from dirty stuff UwU XDD" like, no.The amount of rumors I have heard is sad, eg. "A kpop idol that have dyed their hair pink, have been @bus3d by their staff or their members". I have also realised that if Female Kpop idols make a mistake their lazy or undetermined, but once a male idol makes a mistake ESPECIALLY in their choreography ,it's cute that's just sad. We also need to stop labelling idols bc of stereotypes, eg. If their a vocalist they can't be a good dancer. We need to stop saying things like; "Their just visual, They're lazy, they're too fat or too skinny, they're are only popular because of [___], they disgrace their group". That's just being toxic.

This is just like what happened with the 90s boyband scene. People realized how messed up it was (just look at Aaron Carter and others like him) and they stopped being fans. There was also the issue of abuse to the young idols, as well as fakeness and corruption of the pure concept (idk if that's a good way to describe it) within the industry (for example, the fact that N'Sync vs Backstreet was actually just smoke and mirrors and they were both owned by the same person). Similarly with kpop, I was never a kpop fan really but my friends in middle and high school obsessed over it all the same. They knew the bad sides of it and often discussed the corruption like it was just something from a mafia anime, instead of reality. They just chose to keep patronizing the industry. For me, it's very easy to turn a blind eye to it, but it is important to know that although the idols work really hard to make a good final product and put on a show for their fans, and yes although they did sign up for this, it is important to know what is going on in the industry and decide whether or not to support it.
Another option of course is to still enjoy the music, but without paying for it, which is what I find myself doing with BTS (Yes, a youtube view is still money but it's not very much and i'm not spending out of my own pocket). Just knowing that idols often never get paid depending on their training contract, and that fact alone, really turns me away from the industry, on top of all the other abuses and corruption. The whole music industry is just as bad, but these sort of groups that appeal to youths are especially flagrant with their branding and practically beg for your donations at every turn.
EDIT: Found another thing to compare it to... the visual kei scene. The idols (they call them "J-rockers" in the fandom) are mainly personality-void products in an oversaturated industry. It started out as a raw expression, but after it got taken over by capitalism, the industry/genre sort of fell to bits. Maybe the same thing is happening to the kpop industry.

What song or artists(especially solo artist) are new in the industry but other than listening to them songs once in a while i don't really associate with the industry, companies or the fan base in any way. And I'm happy with just that. K-pop is a very harmful industry both for the artists and the young fans. Then again as alot of korean fans of kpop say, the industry for them and not for people like me so I'm no one to judge or tell them to stop with their toxicity.

I'm still a kpop fan but not like some toxic ones. I simply enjoy their music. and I, in fact, agree with everything you said (except one part that you talked about the songs , because I think it depends on the person's personal taste).
I think the beauty standards are really toxic and harmful for teenagers and young people at that age because at some points, they literally make you feel that you're not enough and not beautiful.
the other issue is the diets. I completely agree with you on that. it's so dangerous to just eat an ice cube everyday or to *just* drink water. and most of the time idols admit that they suffer, but who cares? absolutely no one, because the companies make you believe that those idols are strong and have strong mentality. but who are we kidding?? they're humans after all. and they are hundreds of other issues waiting up if we want to talk about it.
it's been years that I'm a kpop fan and I'm telling you that they have helped me alot through the times I had depression and stuff and I do love my idols, but I'm a type of person that can't help but to tell the truth. it has good sides , but the dark sides are way more.

South korean people used to enjoy kpop i mean more like korean popish music , mostly teens. But nowdays people The main part of kpop i mean MUSIC is not even a main thing. "Kpop componies" nowdays focus on visual so they can attract more and more SIMPS ( yes , simps ) and not people who enjoys music. And it's really a popular opinion among south koreans. People doesn't listen to kpop anymore because of this reason. And
Second thing is i have heard so many ridiculous kpop fans on social medias who stalks them like please don't do that. They are also humans. Just don't make edits of them eating food and living their life because it's creepy for them . They are just doing their work. They are old enough to take care of their self so please don't create dramas or fight for them and things.
Also i used to love wonder girl from and oh my girl group. I still love them but it doesn't mean I'LL STALK THEM AND FIGHT FOR THEM BECAUSE I LOVE THEM AND CREATE A FAN WAR ON SOCIAL MEDIAS.

Hi! First of all, I actually really like your honesty about how your interest in BTS and KPop is deteriorating because I've been through it too recently. I have been a kpop stan since, like, 12 and now I'm in my 20s, Super Junior is my gateway to the kpop world but back then I didn't really got attached to one group I just enjoy kpop generally. But at some point, I started to get attached to some idol groups and I became a multifan mainly army. I used to be a pretty hardcore fan, I follow their activities for almost 24/7 online, I participated in voting crazes, I made fancafe accounts, watch their live streams on vlive, I used to know and keep updated about every news about kpop idols, etc.
Since about four years ago, I realized the same things that you mentioned. At one point, I realized that everything they do feels so 'scripted' and superficial. I realized that what we adore from them is a persona they made on stage, on camera, on those variety shows. This is the biggest reason out of lots of other reasons for me to let go of my attachment to kpop. Some other would be my realization of how toxic korean culture is, not just in entertainment but also in many other aspects. Not to mention the fandom culture that gets so toxic nowadays. Also, yes, their qualities are also getting bad in general. The songs and concepts are starting to get so generic, although there are exceptions for some acts.
I can seriously make a whole paper about this kind of topic but I gotta stop here. My point is that I'm no longer a kpop fan but more like casual enjoyer.
I still love to listen to some new and old kpop songs, even I spread my interest to the other korean music genres like krnb, k-hiphop, and k-indies bcs I gotta admit that korean music has lots of great hidden gems. If there's a song that catches my interest I'll listen to it, but that's it. I also still love bts and still supporting the boys, but I don't want to be considered a part of army and I'm no longer stanning them that hard, just watch some videos on youtube and listen to their songs.

  • @worshipthecomedygodseoeunk4010

it will never stop sounding weird to me that people see bts as the "gateway group". i got into kpop before they debuted and i witnessed the entire process, from predebut to now so to me they will always just be another 2013 boy group debut. although i didnt intentionally do so, its just as a fan, popular groups tend to show up anywhere there is anything kpop related. but anyways, the peak of when i was the most obsessed as a fan was during 2012-2014, where 2015 was a small hiatus until 2016-2017 when my favorite groups had some of their most iconic comebacks before disbanding/losing members one by one. thats when i realized i would never be into kpop the same way again. but at least in 2018-2020 i still enjoyed the music. i cannot even listen to most albums now without having dozens of skips most of the time. even new jeans attention album, top fav of 2022, became quickly overplayed and i got so sick of it by the end of the year because of how often it was in tiktok videos, youtube shorts, and literally everywhere on the internet. social media has become oversaturated with mediocre kpop content that rarely ever digs deeper than memes, choreo fancams, or sped up versions and "drama".
i think a big issue is how koreans dont listen to it much anymore. variety shows with idols tend to focus on the group itself without flaws but 2nd gen-early 3rd gen it was more common to have mixed group content, or include nonkpop celebrities, or have more intimate moments showing the struggle underlying all the "perfection". thats why i hate tiktok videos as a means of kpop content. perfect editing, perfect cuts, and of course, visual. no talking, no time for intimate conversation, just pure short attention span eye candy. so for me, one of the things i hate most is the newer ways that kpop content is being created, promoted, and distributed. the lives are too polished, mvs are almost always just some cgi sh*t, and companies double down EVEN MORE than they used to when it comes to scandals and drama. i made the mistake of thinking kpop would become a more ethical and inclusive industry. it is the complete opposite. more shady sh*t is happening and since there are more fans, and specifically more fans that are new to the korean cultural context, who are younger, more impressionable, and naive, they think its normal and that its been a part of the industry since forever, which is partially true, but they dont realize that now, companies know their groups will survive with bigger fanbases than ever and since kpop fans equate criticism to being a hater, they can now get away with anything and no one can stop their exploitation.

im so glad you’ve covered this topic the K-pop community is so toxic and it annoys me how people blame a certain fanbase instead of all of them being held accountable for their behaviour. i still enjoy kpop but i used to find it so hard to be a fan of it and im so glad i wasn’t. the whole industry is so dark and the idols are poorly treated with so much expectations however they are rarely held accountable for their rude/ offensive actions. that’s a factor that put me off and the diets and the agencies and the way they treat their idols is disgusting.
it annoys me so much how the fans try to “care” for the idols like stop they’re literally fucking 20-30 years. taeyhong being an example of he wants to smoke let him it’s his choice. overall at this point a large portion of the time it’s not even caring it’s being possessive or controlling.
another disgusting thing is the aeoygo that shit pisses me off i find it as if they are fetishising the idols and acting very paedophilic it makes me uncomfortable. these idols are literally being forced to have to please their fans and it makes me proud when i see an idol standing up and saying no they are human and not just people who you find attractive. those edits of them playing with the mic or smiling at a female idols like it’s giving very much vinnie hacker fans.

Whenever an idol does something problematic they would always defend them. E.g: an idol would black face or say a slur. They would always defend them and start guilt tripping those who are educating them. If I say I don’t like a certain group (with reason or without) they would start threatening me, they would say slurs and start an immature fight in the comment section.
Idc I might get hated when I bring this up but A LOT of idols do cornrows, they would always defend them saying, “omg it’s the stylist fault for doing that.” Shut up, idols should know better, if they want to have a clear image as an idol they should have been educated from the start and not to do ca. “but they’re from Korea-“ there’s something called history plus most of these idols come from 3rd gen to 4th gen. Isn’t there something called a gadget to search stuff on? Most of them support Jay Park, he’s ignorant and again problematic. Yet there are Stans out there wanting to get r4iled by him.
I just don’t understand that they can’t accept an opinion that’s different to theirs. My cousins hate Kpop, and I’m okay with that. Why? Because what’s that got to do with me?Plus they respect my opinion about it. I’m just a fan, not a stan. I don’t obsess over some human being.

As a k-pop stan, I enjoy the music and the content they put out and I like collecting stuff, so I easily got obsessed over albums. I try not to make it my whole life and personality, but I feel comfortable with being a little more into this fandom, if I can say it like that. I'm not obsessing too much over idols though and if they do something controversial, I'll unstan them. Yes, I look up to some idols and yes, some of them actually helped me finding my way and finding friends through the fandom. I also know the dark side of k-pop. But as you grow up, you'll realise that most companies are just like k-pop companies. Remember that we live in a world of capitalism, and globalisation is even bigger than before, so the market is really huge. The most convenient thing companies can do is to exploit you. Maybe not in all parts of the world, but as someone who lives in a kinda poor country, I don't find the dark side of the k-pop industry something extra. Maybe I'm just desensitised, because working hard for $2 per hour is normal here. I won't deny that the industry is gross, but which industry isn't? I think that being a little blind is not wrong- after all, it feels better to be clueless than to know everything.
I also feel like if people find k-pop as the meaning of their life, then so be it. If you're mentally ill, it can be a coping mechanism or you can use it as something to hold onto in life. This is why we should never bully someone for being hyperfixated on something. But I digress.
My point is: being addicted to k-pop is fine to extent. :)

I'd personally been a fan of kpop since my elementary school years because of their amazing talents and modest, fashionable look. (mostly groups from 1st to 2nd generation) it's just like a normal thing. since the beginning of year 2015/2016 remarks the alternation of kpop concept (basically groups which debut those years after training) at the same time the fanbase grows gradually and it mainly focuses on visual and choreography (mostly boygroups from 3rd to 4th gen are switched into effeminate looks) which lead to misconduct of fans (obsession to idols) that's why i have already stopped being a fan of kpop, but the music i still listen some of them (2nd gen usually)

Bruh, kpop stans will literally send you a whole 3 page essay on proof that their favs weren’t lipsyncing but will not give a fuck if there’s racism/cultural appropriation involved. Like what happened with Lisa, Wendy, Namjoon, Giselle and so many more.

You're a really great and eloquent speaker/writer. Seemingly very opinionated and well informed at your age it's so so refreshing, not to mention you're funny. Would you be able to set up the script or prompter such that your eyes naturally go left center right however. I think how you're set up right now doesn't detract from your salient points, yet for someone like me who thinks are you reading or are really that spontaneously good, it's quite distracting. Just me though, that said do keep it up.

I honestly feel so bad for K-pop idols. It’s true that they have to put on a “cute” and “perfect” act. Like for example Jennie from black pink. She’s had a lot a mental breakdowns and injuries and people hate on her for it. People call her “lazy” for being overworked and tired. It’s really sad.

  • @parthofattah___________3033

Trust me sis,I'm the same as you and I'm not Kpop Stan anymore, their fans are main reasons and I still wonder how it was my favorite thing!!
    I didn't understand it was a distraction.
And nothing is more important than you, your dreams and blah!
    Their fans are the cringiest!
That's what makes them cringe 😬
Literally they are saying "they are my life,my heart,my husband,my dream"
    And blah nonsense.
Like dude they are just part of ENTERTAINMENT!
    That's what people don't understand!
    And since I left it.
    Trust me!I didn't regret it!
I got fights with the same creatures as me.
I don't wanna lose humanity bc of a part of ENTERTAINMENT
Now I'm just busy with I, me,myself, and my life
And there's family and I'm happy!
I'm not tryna be rude but their fans and they themselves are silly
And I'm not into stupid stuffs.
And nd before going I was to tell the immature people as the matured people are not their fans anymore.
    Stop dreaming!
Your 26 year old oppa won't marry your 10 year old ass!

i became a kpop stan for a short while last year. i voted for twice, streamed their music, watched their vlives, etc. i became drained after watching ads to vote for them, felt what i was doing was meaningless because why would i support them and give money to billionaires who exploit people for money? should've spent the time reading books instead of wasting it. :(( i only come back into being a stan when i choose to "forget" reality. "ignorance is bliss." hahahaha
