Any mother who lets their boyfriend sleep in the bed with their teenage daughter needs to go to prison. In no world is that okay. Her mother infuriates me! She should be charged for child neglect.

I worked in Admin in a 7-12 Charter School. We had a student that was incredible but every time his step dad came around, he creeped me out. At an open house I had a horrible gut instinct with the mother and sister with the step dad. I told the RN that he was abusing the mother and kids. She reported it to the proper authorities. The police came and interviewed me. The police did an investigation, the step dad ended up getting charged with all kinds of things. I had to testify at the trial and he ended up getting sentenced to more than 20 years in jail.
It was among one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.
The most interesting/horrific part of that entire case; we had a school wide assembly about abuse; both verbal and physical. FIVE female students ended up coming forward to the RN reporting they were being SA by someone in their house. We only had 300 students. That was truly a shocking and hard year.

Schools need to have more in services or lectures about that stuff and giving kids opportunity to speak about it.
I was abused as a child by a family member. Since I’ve come out about it- it’s SHOCKING how common it is unfortunately. I thought I was an alien, and so alone- it’s so sad. It makes me so sad so many others lived the hell I did.

It happens more than we know. I had a coworker years ago tell me that her mother kicked her out because mom's boyfriend was a priority. There are a lot of stories like this.
No one cared or even asked if she had homework. What a horrible life for that little girl. Mother failed her miserably.
Oh, I know. Learning all about the world and having strong guidance in the world is so important for kids. I don't believe she had anything and I mean ANYTHING that would describe MEANINGFUL eccept maybe a birthday party.

NOT saying Jen’s innocent but also don’t know that she’s guilty, she may have just needed a break actually so she could get better and be able to be a better mom and had no idea what he was doing but she also could’ve been involved for all we know, we just don’t know yet so please give her the benefit of the doubt she just lost her daughter and if we find out she did know then by all means raise - but until then please be kind ❤

She may be the sort of person that wouldn’t believe the evil in the world let alone in her home. The fact that Madeline's teacher remembered her asthma inhaler and her own mother NEVER not once mentioned it is very off-putting to me! Also the fact that her teachers mentioned that she was always tired and Jenn always had an excuse for that too, also very off-putting. The teacher even said, it was more than her just forgetting to take her medication. I would be willing to bet that Stephan was drugging Madeline and probably her mother too. I recall Stephan saying something about Ativan and how he had to tranquilize himself in order to get any sleep now that Madeline was missing. My gut feeling says Stephan was a very sick man, and that Jenn stayed doped up, whether willingly or not... She was an absentee parent at the very least. Disgusting!!! This is my opinion.

What stood out to me as a huge red flag, beyond the poor performance in school is that the teachers said Jennifer was uninvolved, she never attended open houses or parent/teacher conferences. They wouldn’t have even known who Jennifer was if it wasn’t for her occasionally being a substitute teacher.
Maddie had clothes, food, and entertainment but that’s all she got from her mother. Jennifer did the bare minimum for her daughter and her emotional needs. Jennifer but herself and her needs first. She didn’t even attend her daughter’s 13th birthday, no excuse. New job? You let them know that ahead of time that you are unavailable that day. Every job I’ve ever been hired for has asked me ahead of time if there is any time I need off for appointments or vacation. It’s BS.

I truly cannot even fathom not being at my son's birthday party. No matter how old he gets. I'm heartbroken for that sweet girl.
I couldn’t have kids due to severe health problems. It makes my blood boil to see women have kids by accident & then they can’t bother to even try to be a half decent mother. Women like this sacrifice their kids to pedos because they are so desperate to have a man. If it's a new job my son had a job where you absolutely can't miss work the first ninety days till your in the union but he told them ahead of time he had a baby coming so they didn't fire him over it . But if he would have said I need off to attend my thirteen years olds birthday that would not be a good enough excuse .
Social Worker here- ADHD is often misdiagnosed in kiddos when it’s actually C-PTSD due to Trauma (Abuse).
There is overlap due to parts of both Dx’s being same/related Neuro systems, etc.
There’s a lot more to it, too much to write here, but you had brought up her ADHD Dx a few times and questioned/remarked on some things about it, so I just wanted to tell you this.

Hi Stacy, do you think if SS was drugging her at night (he has a pharmacy🚩) that she would just feel super groggy/sleepy the next day and very out of sorts giving the symptoms of ADHD bc she's still so loopy? A common med for ADHD is adderall (a mix of 4 diff amphetamine salts) I looked that one up😉speculating that the uppers and downers were making her feel strung out (she know something was off so stopped what she knew about) Then you add the PTSD (TY for info) and a mother who absolutely did not care + SS's grooming/brainwashing & indoctrination.. This poor baby had her developing brain assaulted in every way 😢💔 thank you for your valuable insight ✨ 🇨🇮🇴🇲

Or both , people assume it's one diagnosis or another from what I gather the mother was not very high functioning and was happy to let Stephan take over and he completely took full advantage ! He was a useless bum that ate all the groceries and abused this poor child . Teachers often just label a child that doesn't remind them of themselves at that age .

Poor Maddie didn’t feel safe (even at school) and had difficulty trusting adults. Her anxiety was manifested by needing to go to the school nurse often; kids with anxiety often feel sick, especially nausea.
It's a very common sign of CSA. A little more support from the school may have given her a safe mandatory reporter she may have opened up to.
The “buddy system” brought me back to when I was being ab- and went to this wicked witches house for daycare 😂 and had to bring my brother with to ask for play-doh cause I was too afraid she would hit or yell at me even tho she hadn’t before so IMO DEF A 🚩 IF KIDS NEED BUDDY SYSTEMS TO ASK FOR SIMPLE THINGS

I think disassociated describes Maddie’s school behaviour. Teachers should have tapped into that and reported child abuse concerns. Especially if Maddie’s grades did not equate with her IQ test results. Everyone let Maddie down.
Students aren't routinely tested for IQ, and most teachers would not have access to the scores if they exist.
The constant talking on the phone and texting with SS seems like Maddie had been manipulated into thinking they might have a “special relationship “, not realizing just how dysfunctional it really was . Wouldn’t be surprised if SS declared his love for Maddie . So so very sad . Maddie was so victimized.
She had nobody and this is a predator of the very worst kind . She was drugged alot and I'm sure she had to be aware of a lot of the abuse this child could not sleep thru all of it . None of the kids seemed to be a bestie you can tell your secrets to . It's sad that not one adult cared enough to really look into this child's life .If a grown man told me he cuddled with his on again off again girlfriend's twelve years old I'd be calling 696-kids altho I'd doubt it would do any good.

I was abused as a child from 5years to 13years. I did not do well in school. I was classed as lazy and dumb. Sorry but teachers have no idea because of the control the abuser has over their target.

I’ve been retired for some time but I still think of these girls, now mamas themselves and we’re now friends… 💜. And it still breaks my heart that there were some kids that I couldn’t help.
ICPS sucks. I turned in a kid 3x's for sexual harassment inky to have the ounk sent back. The counselors should be calling everyone if the 'starements' into DCF. Watch the kids start to behave better. Why? Because tjose low life parents don't want to be caught.
I understand it would be extremely difficult to encounter, but what would be things that teachers could do to help a student they suspect is being abused? Are you allowed to ask the student (in private of course) if everything is okay at home, etc? Something gentle and vague but lets them know you care and can be a safe person to talk to?
@@Sharon_L_W I spent 30 years at one school and I knew the pulse of the community. Talking and listening to students is important but not everyone feels comfortable talking about private things. You can gently probe, get a counselor involved (if you’re lucky enough to have one that’s worth their salt), but sometimes there is simply nothing you can do. Some teachers / staff are observant and or have special repoire with their students so you hope several people who have interaction with this student will notice and report it.
It is heartbreaking to look at Maddie's pictures with her beautiful smile knowing she was probably screaming on the inside. She endured so much😢😢😢
The mom was such a loser. Bare minimum working yet could not be at the bday party. Mom checked out already. Maddie was tired because Stephan kept her up with his creepy habits or drugged her.

Oh yes, I was a teacher for many years and believe me, most good teachers look for and explore concerns all the time! We are required to report any concerns! I have helped to stop abuse of many kinds throughout my career!
I wish you were my teacher because I was abused for years and no teacher helped me. What you encountered was the tip of the iceberg. I still haven’t confronted my abuser and I’m 64. It’s too horrible!
I’m a school psychologist and most schools have an “Early Warning System.” This system looks at three components- attendance, behavior, and coursework. If Maddie was not handing in assignments and/or receiving grades below C in any of her classes, the school most definitely would have met to discuss how to support her and attempt to contact the family (i.e., mother). Unless this district didn’t use an EWS (which it’s difficult to believe they didn’t have something in place), Maddie could have slipped through without notice. 🤷🏻♀️

While we continue to need more Federal funding to provide more counselors and school psychologists per school district, our training is superior and we are aware of the importance of supporting all students.

That is what happened in my case, he had already abused my mother at 13 on the way home from his wife, my Mom’s sister had just had their first child! He tried it in the car with my grandparents in the front seat…they are sick crazy people! Mine occurred when I was 2-14! Good luck and get ahold of me if you ever need to just vent! Take care!

I am also a survivor however, my mom had no idea until years later. It was my best friend’s grandfather, I was always over and my moms hands were full with 5 kids , ( my sister got pregnant at 15 ), my brother was epileptic and had grand mal seizures daily. She was a stay at home mom, taking care of everything as my dad worked 3 til midnight ( which adding travel 1 hour each way) . So along with our dad, she took care of everything and a granddaughter of my oldest sister. I hated my mom for years for not knowing but how could she I was always at my best friends house. In my 30’s , I realized I wasted too much energy hating her and I had to forgive her. The abuse was for several years, the day we admitted the abuse, best friends mom called the police and then my parents. We lived 4 houses down and thankfully the police got there seconds before my parents. My dad walked up loading his gun and my mom had a huge knife and hammer. They had no idea, I was so frightened and scared. The police had him in cuffs and n the car thankfully, my parents waned to hurt him.

It wasn’t until I had open my mouth at 26 years old after the birth of our second daughter I ended up in the hospital due to severe depression and postpartum depression! My wonderful husband has been by my side always! Now at 60, I have to move on and not let it affect me! I will always watch my grandchildren for any signs! I have a wonderful son-in-law and trust him completely! I have to move on and be a real survivor! Good luck with your journey!
I keep trying to find a way to make Jenn innocent but it just can't be done. Hey, the kid is missing and has asthma but no worries, she doesn't need an inhaler she really needs so I won't even mention it.
This mother enabled this to happen. If nothing else, she was negligent and she endangered her daughter. She should be held accountable for at least these things.
Imagine being afraid to go home every day. I know that feeling, it can break you down to the point where you go into survival mode and discern permanently, only way you can handle it 😢 I look up to Madi for still smiling on her last photo and even all of her photos. She was looking forward to be 18 and living her own life 😢
Public school teacher here - yes those are typically red flags that any good teacher will report. If we suspect abuse we are mandated reporters. Unfortunately there’s a whole process that’s out of our hands once we push the report higher on the command list. After that it’s up to the admin to hopefully take it seriously and get the child help.
Love the channel. I am an educator of students from 1st-8th grade throughout my career. I kept a binder on every student with all information, as I looked at the whole child, and included assignments, grades, communication, behavior, and etc. I would go to lunch with my kids to make sure they were eating because some will just throw their food out sometimes. I would go out at recess to see the social dynamics. It was important to communicate with all of my students and parents for good and if there was concerns. All were documented. I am retired now with only probono tutoring. I have had to refer to my dean of students for students that I would see red flags. Many teachers will "know" their students even going to their recitals, games, plays and etc. Knowing the family is important. Just wanted to let you know. Teachers see their students as their kids. I love teaching!
Had no idea that JS did not work full-time. So her sending her child to bed with a grown man for a good night sleep is beyond ridiculous. Not that it matters since that would never be acceptable but just another piece of the puzzle that makes little sense. Rest in peace Maddie. 🙏
Right? It’s like the parents who let their kids sleep with Michael Jackson. I do believe Stephan groomed Jen as well, which could explain some of her behavior. But at the end of the day, Jen was responsible for her child’s well being and safety, and 5 yrs of abuse is too much for me to believe she was totally clueless.

Here's one thing I don't understand about the timeline, and perhaps it's a small detail in the grand scheme of this case...But Jen's reasoning for pushing Maddy off into Stefans bedroom, was that she often had sleep troubles and needed to get sleep before getting up early on Monday. Except on Monday, Jen supposedly didn't leave the house until after 10 to go to a doc appointment. As a lifelong insomniac, this strikes me as very odd. Being able to sleep later because of an appointment would make even less sense as to why Maddy was kicked out of the bed, compared to a "normal" work day for Jen.

Yep, she didn’t go to her party. Didn’t wake up to see that she got ready for school. Didn’t drop her off at school. Didn’t call 911. Didn’t go to her vigil. She pretty much said “good riddance” once her daughter was gone. Very sad for that poor baby.
As a former elementary school teacher of 25 years, teachers think these things are distressing. I would have referred her for services. And, unfortunately, does not always mean that things will be discovered, but covering all concerns and documenting is critical. You are so correct, it is extremely tough to know the home lives of many students. We are legally required to contact DCFS if any suspicious behavior, story, etc. is a red flag. All these documented comments/observations tell a story, and kudos to those teachers for doing this. What a tragic story. OMG, I too thought Jenn was jealous of Maddie! Yes, we do dread those conversations because often, not always, parents are very defensive and in denial. It's a really tough situation. We had many IEP students. But, that does not get to the core of family dynamics, unfortunately. So very tragic.
In the very first interview Jen stuffed up. She said "we drove her" and then "He drove her". She lied from the first line.
All the issues Maddie had were because of what she was going through,what was happening to her.
She needed to be out of that environment, needless to say the everyday extreme trauma of living in that environment are not conductive to learning. Maddie’s concentration and memory would have been massively affected.
GF I was abused by my father (in every way) and had no idea my mother was jealous of me. I basically had no relationship with either of them except for control and pain. I was an adult and it was my husband who finally said “your mother is jealous of you Pam.” After all those years it made sense. Can you imagine Jennifer feeing so jealous of Maddie because of the way this man-child felt about her as he is NOT her biological father. I think she hated the way SS treated M like his Girlfriend but she knew if she stopped it SS would walk because Maddie WAS the reason he was there in my opinion. Any thoughts?

Also the makeshift room in the living room.. Jenn seemingly had profit ahead of her only child's basic needs. Even though she stated that Madeline NEVER slept in there... The room was setup with a desk, a TV, and a BED!!! I would be willing to bet that the ONLY privacy Madeline was ever allotted, was when she had to share a bed and a room with Stephan in room #4. This in itself, should be a crime in every state!

What I found the most disgusting is, there was a tripod set up in that same room for.... What exactly?! How TF did Jenn Soto NOT see anything wrong with that situation or even question it? I would be asking what the tripod and camera were for EVEN IF I HAD NO CHILDREN AT ALL. Was Stephan a cam boy?? Was Madeline a cam girl? Everyone glorifies “medication.” Well, medication causes grogginess, sleepiness.
Sure - but all these people get it together enough to do the things they want: energy to go to the vape shop, shopping (for their things), etc - and act like an 8 hour work week is oh so onerous and planning her birthday on one of those 8 hours. But when it comes to parenting or a full time job - then the meds and the illness make it impossible to do anything. BS - then don’t have kids.

When my cousin was in middle school she was being SA’d by her dad. She told her mom, mom did nothing. Told our grandma (dad’s mom) and she did nothing. She told the social worker at school THEY DID NOTHING.
I was so heart broken when I found out. We’re both in our 30s now and our grandma died and she refused to visit her on her death bed. I couldn’t understand why, a lot of people blamed it on her mom and dad being divorced now but when I saw her a few months later she told me. I immediately understood and felt just such a rage that so many people did nothing.
she was 100% envious of Maddie, not only because of what you said but maddie was FAR nicer looking and soon becoming a young lady. She looked so lovely in her green dress and pump heels. She was an aging toad at the end of the day.
I have 2 sons, but the mother/ daughter relationship can get really volatile

In my opinion, sending Maddie and SS out of the bedroom is the first step that set off the chain reaction leading to Maddie’s murder.

I think the only mental problem Madi could have was C-PTSD, cause that what happens to people who gets abused for a long time. And if you look at the symptoms, that includes the farique, irritability, anxiouty, anger outbursts, even the Asthma. It took me 4 years to recover from this after being abused by a malignant narcissist for 2 years.

Your soothing tone makes watching this triggering info easier for me as I’m sure it does others of CA. Secondly, tons of red flags 🚩 imo! BUT I think the teachers DID what they could based on what they knew. I was outed as a child after telling my gf my father had struck me and a social worker was subsequently assigned and at my home for a long time as a child, however she NEVER took my brother or I aside to ask if we were ok and they LEFT US IN AN ABUSIVE HOME THAT I WAS TRAPPED IN FROM AGE 5-27.. social worker was involved by age 10… no jail time no nothing for my ab- no help no justice no safe haven so please I BEG U TO HELP THE CHILDREN IF UR THERE FOR AB- DO NOT LEAVE THOSE POOR CHILDREN THERE IF U CAN GET THEM OUT!!! I feel as though my brother and I had been FAILED BY THE SYSTEM AND MY HEART BREAKS FOR MADDIE 😢😢
What I have noticed from my own children and their friends is that on ADHD meds, students are quiet and withdrawn. Without it, they are bouncing off the walls. I’m also sad thinking about the gym class and locker room. In junior high, it was mortifying to change in a locker room. If she was hesitant to change, it could be the only time she got to make a choice to not be exposed. Poor thing!
It didn’t make sense to me that when the teacher told the “mother” Madeline was tired she said it’s bc she didn’t take her meds- if she didn’t take her meds wouldnt she have more energy

Our jr high gym showers were patterned after work camps. U-shaped tiled walkway with shower heads placed 2ft apart. Girls had to hold towels above their heads and, butt neked traipse single-file thru the shower path Humiliating. Demeaning. Percy

Of course they wouldn't mention the asthma, that would've made finding her in the beginning THAT much more urgent. I REALLY hope the police are building a case against Jen, and charges will soon be filed against her. There's ABSOLUTELY ZERO WAY that Jen was just "aloof" and didn't realize EXACTLY what that monster was doing to her child.

I think SS probable succeeded in driving a wedge between mother and daughter. She probably had to mother SS and he and Maddie were on the same wavelength with same pre-teen interests. SS has deffo got arrested development - he’s never grown up!

Madeline was showing nearly every sign of trauma from CSA in school. 😭 why didn’t the teachers talk to Jen about her failing and sleeping and inability to pay attention and being withdrawn? Those are serious red flags of something very bad happening at home! It feels like everyone failed this poor sweet child 😢😢😢

*** GF *** I bet Maddie developed disassosiative identity disorder as a result of the SA! This type of abuse causes people to split into multiple personalities as a coping mechanism. That would explain a lot of what her teachers described.
Oh my goodness. This little girl was in so much pain and anguish. We weep for Maddie.
My theory is that Sterns was doing these horrible things to Madeline for years while she was unconscious (as indicated in the photos found on his phone); she would routinely be given her 'medication' which was likely something sedating so that Sterns could carry out his heinous acts unbeknownst to Madeline. This could explain why she didn't tell anyone; because she didn't know what was happening to her. She told her friends that she had stopped taking her medications lately. I think Sterns came back, with plans to sedate her and do what he had done to her in the past but she didn't take the meds, unbeknownst to Sterns. He goes in to commit his sick acts thinking she is asleep, she wakes, he gets freaked out and kills her. He even mentions that he got her ready for bed including giving her nighttime medication. I would be really interested in seeing the toxicology report when it comes out.
In any case, Madeline was failed on so many levels. She deserves justice.
Sure the medicine could’ve played a part in this..I doubt she was unaware what he doing to her!! Men like him bribe children or threaten them so they will keep quiet. It’s actually pretty easy when you have a child who has no support system .. esp a mother figure. Sad
Some of the photos she was unconscious, other photos she was awake. She was likely being drugged, but also groomed, manipulated and pressured by this predator.

10:18 I'm probably slow to realise this, but her mum and Stephan saying she had ADHD on multiple occasions has just clicked - I don't think it's necessarily a correct diagnosis. Her inattention, forgetfulness, and whatever other behavioural struggles she had displayed at school in particular were more likely the psychological effects of being abused for so many years. Her young brain had to find a way to cope, and often that means a level of dissociation while the abuse is happening... then that can become a 'habit' in other situations.
Daydreaming, zoning out, flashbacks, physical pain from the abuse, the loneliness/isolation she must've felt as a child victim with a mother who didn't protect her, her disrupted sleep (based on the affidavit details IIRC?), and possibly being drugged at night (my speculation! may not be true.. but when Stephan told cops he used Ativan, alarm bells rang cos I use that and it knocks me out hard, is known to make you drowsy the next day, and higher doses cause retrograde and anterograde amnesia.. like total blocks of time you have no recollection of - source: I'm an idiot who used to abuse them). All those factors would've made it so hard for her to focus at school.
Far out, this makes my heart break even more realising that she pushed on and was so strong to keep smiling while holding in those horrific secrets. Being a teen is hard enough and THIS is what she had piled onto it. How could a person do that to a freaking child?
I hope others manage to reflect and realise (sooner than I did) that silent warning signs of abuse can be misinterpreted and diagnosed as something like ADHD. Things as simple as poor attention skills and forgetfulness mean her mind wasn't 'there' - sometimes you have to ask why that might be, and not just assume it's the childs personality, lack of interest, or an organic and unpredictable brain disorder.
FWIW, I'm 36, diagnosed in my 30s with ADHD. Childhood trauma probably had a lot to do with it manifesting too.
One saying Maddie said, Stephen was close to her and another said, she felt creeped out by him. He may have played the friend and father when she was not getting along with the mother? So sad , this case is hard to handle.
The dog leash incident struck me when I first heard it because I think he killed with it in the car. It would have been too difficult and suspicious for him to carry out a dead body.

Listen to Steven Sterns audible interview. Not video. He repeats at least three times about her menstruation. It’s about the time for young girls to begin menstruation. He talks about Jennifer’s menstrual cycle. I believe this is extremely significant to the case.
When I saw Jen Soto reporting Madeline missing, I noticed the flatness in her delivery. She FAILED her daughter. Justice for Madeline.
Why wasn’t the birthing person (she is no mother) notified? My son has ADHD. Not turning in assignments isn’t unusual. I kept on him. I had contact with his teachers. He was in advanced ( with an IEP) classes after 3rd grade. He’s an adult now. Why didn’t her mother inquire how her daughter was doing? So many people failed this child. Maddie, We love, you. You will get your justice. Rest in peace Sweetheart.

No criticism for her teachers!! For SURE, they were communicating and trying to do something about a student who was consistently failing. Many communications had been given to her mother; as a teacher of 2 decades I’m absolutely positive of that. The educators involved cannot defend themselves because student records are 100% confidential. Stop looking for blame in this place. That is cruel and wrong.

10:40 I grew up with a step parent who was on drugs and my mom would throw him out and let him back and he abused me by spanking me bare butt with a belt and he beat tf out of my poor mom too. It was so bad that i had to go straight to my mom every day after school to see if I needed to take my baby brother to our room to hide or not.
I once walked out of my bedroom door in the middle of the night because I woke up to them fighting and I opened my bedroom door and saw my step dad sitting on the side of the bed with a rifle in his mouth. I can go on and on with horrific stories and let me tell you, I also never turned in homework or did book reports.

Exactly Jennifer is definitely unequipped to deal with life .Maddie needed a mother Jenn couldn't take care of herself much less a child and a predator like Stephan completely takes advantage of someone that isn't on top of their game . The last thing she needed was a scrounge that eats all the groceries and preys on your child . Just reading the foia docs the teachers were quick to just label her and she needed serious help like removed from the home and Jenn forced into parenting classes or if she didn't want to comply then see if another adult would be better suited to parent Maddie .

- And LONG story short, as a Social Worker- highly educated and trained in Child Welfare, Trauma- ALL the many various types of Abuse, and Child & Adult Mental Health/Illness- I could sadly add many more Red Flags and further detailed explanations/info that wasn’t mentioned.
Oh this breaks my heart.
WE HAVE TO EDUCATE AND TRAIN OUR TEACHERS (and EVERY OTHER MANDATORY REPORTER. AND GENERAL PUBLIC AWARENESS) IN *RECOGNIZING ALL THE MODERN, UP TO DATE SCIENTIFICALLY-BIO-NEURO-PSYCH, etc, SIGNS OF TRAUMA AND ABUSE*.

Clearly her mother had no interest in her daughter and was unable to provide. In an interview I think her dad said that he had intentions of bringing her with him, but that "money was tight". If your child has a learning disability, is forgetful and needs support - then why is Jen not helping Maddie manage these things?. She missed doses of her medication - that is Jens job to help Maddie and ensure this doesn't happen. Seems like she was lazy and just didn't care. One of those out of sight out of mind parents. Poor Maddie had no one looking out for her and her own mum told her basically the first chance she was going to get she was kicking Maddie out.

Teachers may be mandated reporters, but if there is no visible evidence....not much gets done by protective services.
I think Maddie never wanted to be alone because if someone else was with her nobody would bother her. I always had a best friend and tried to keep her around me all the time!

Stephan was being mean/abusive to her but also told her he loved her and her mom was being mean to her and probably said she loved her. She associates love with people being mean or hurting her
Why are observations only spoken or acted on, only after something happens to the children? Why not at the current time, when the child/children are alive?

Because the teachers have said the mother never attended parent teacher conferences. There's only so much a teacher can do , when a parent doesn't respond.

@dsoule4902 I have, with dogs. And it worked here in Port Elizabeth. South Africa. People were breeding and selling dogs, most of them were undernourished. The Animal Rescue and the cops came out. All the dogs were taken away from them, they got a hefty fine and are never allowed to own an animal again. Never tried it with children though.
I think he messed her up so bad she actually had weird feelings for him, since they texted so much. Also think she was drugged and only had a vague idea /fear of what happened to her. Wanna see this trial.
One thing I have learned in my life is there could be thousands of 🚩 and still if you don’t want to see them you don’t. Good people can’t believe there are evil in this world and most of the time they are right next to us in our own homes.
The fact that Jenn was always fighting with poor, little Maddie says a lot. What on earth is there to fight about with a 13 year old? My daughter & I always had the best time hanging out when she was that age & always have. We’d go to our pool, play pool tennis, volleyball, go to the movies, watch movies at home, took her & her bestie to do fun things or even just hang out at home, daily checked on homework & helped with her school assignments, went to ALL school functions, etc. Jenn seriously lacks basic parental skills because she clearly did not care. So many people want children & can’t have them & then you have people like Jenn who didn’t deserve that angel. So very sad for Maddie. She deserved so much more. IMO, Jenn just made excuses like missing her party rather than scheduling it when she could attend. I truly hope LE obtain all the evidence they need to prove Jenn was in on all of it. #justiceformaddie

IMO I always thought the statement of her wanting to go live in the woods was a forewarning, as if she was threatened with this prior to her murder or told to her for a while by either SS or her own mother dearest. What are the odds of her body being found in the woods?
There were so many things that came out in this Doc drop,that surprises me.
One being,I had no idea there were current roommates in this condo..😲 this lady,and her teenaged son.
So,from what the Police have revealed,seems Maddie was on video,already deceased,early that morning,when Sterns was "taking her to school"(🙄). So,how did he get her out of the house without Jenn knowing?
(While also not alerting the other 2 roommates? I'm,in no way,placing any blame on this Mom and son,by the way)!!
I would be curious to know if the roommates ever suspected anything, or thought something was weird, or what they thought 💭.

Speaking to Jenn's mental capacity. My best friend growing up was what we called slow 50+ years ago. She still functions on a 12 year old level, you cannot reason with her as an adult. She becomes very agitated because in her mind, she is 61 years old but technically, she is not. I had to end the friendship with her 20+ years ago because she's just too difficult to deal with. She and Jenn seem a lot alike.
But Jenn drives and works. Yes, she looks very dim and now it’s been proved that she most certainly is by her conduct. I’m sure she has a low IQ but not functioning as a pre-teen like your friend
