Destroying the suits showed that he overcame his fear/trauma, he didn't "need" to keep relying on or making more suits to defend/keep Pepper safe. He showed her she is more important than the suits; no suits = focus on Pepper.
Exactly
I think this is an underrated movie. I think some fans got way too hung up on the Mandarin twist that they let it overshadow everything else in the movie. Sure, maybe they probably could have done the Mandarin thing differently, but I do not think the twist was so horrible that it made the entire movie not worth it. There were some great dramatic and action moments and it was cool seeing Tony be a hero without needing the suit, which gives more significance to Tony telling Peter Parker if he's nothing without the Spidey suit, then he doesn't deserve it. Though, I still think Tony was way too harsh on Peter in Spiderman: Homecoming. I realize this was likely recorded long before today. But, I find it ironic this got released on CZcams the same weekend Shang-Gi and the Legend of the 10 Rings came out. I hope they also react to the Marvel one-shot, "All Hail The King". Then, they can go right into the new movie.
Tony doesn't have armour for his house or shields or weaponry. Jarvis is just an A.I. program it doesn't have telepathy or prediction abilities. Tony's house also doesn't have cameras.
FYI they actually skydived for the skydiving scene, it's 70% real and full acting, just some cgi for the suit and the plane, but most of it is actual skydiving footage choreographed into the skydivers to act scared. their performance was 11/10. mad respect. their costumes such as the suits and ties and air force one clothing were modified to contain hidden parachutes in their backs. also for the chest hole part, tony took a modified stable non-explosive version of extremis that he used to regenerate the hole. oh and every marvel movie has mid-credits and end-credits scenes, so you should definitely stay to watch them. :)
This movie did a perfect job with showing the human side of Tony Stark without the suits.
I love how the iron man vids show Tony’s mistakes in his innovations for the suits. Cause anything that’s made well and serves a purpose doesn’t start out that way. It’s very cool to see the ‘process’ in such great movies
You will see the boy, Harley, again at the end of Avengers: Endgame. He is the teenager standing by himself during the scene which is close to the end of the movie.
4:04 Yinsen says in Iron Man 1 to Tony that we met long ago in Bern, but Tony said he didn't remember. Yinsen said he figures because Tony was very drunk.
My favorite part of this whole movie was the relationship with the boy and Ironman
This film is actually better after I watched it and picked up on some things. I have noticed in some of your reviews that you guys tend to miss the metaphors some movies are trying to express. Honestly I missed the metaphor of destroying the suits at first. It linked with the growth of Tony from all the movies. The destroying of the destroyed his old crutches to not dealing with his PTSD. They were the product of his insomnia and stress. Destroying the showed that he learned that the suits were not what made him Ironman it has always been just him. That being said he does that in the comics. Always building better.
Yeah, that concept flew right over my head as well, until I listened to a commentary from someone involved (not sure if it was the director or one of the actors) explaining that. Good explanation on your part, even though I doubt the reactors will ever realize that. I mean, Tony Stark can and will create new suits anyways. It’s not like he destroyed those suits and that’s it, no more iron man armor forever.
Finally! Finally someone gets it!
The kid is in ENDGAME.
Broke my heart with the suits as well.
Some deal of proving Pepper is more of a priority to him than them.
Least he can always make more.
Poor Jane, can just see the longing for sleep during the intro. Sitting their staring off into the distance, half reminiscing, half just completely zombified; "Ah yes, sleep! I remember it fondly, those were good times"!
Lmao Jarvis is literally only an AI. He can’t foresee attacks or smth. He’s basically just a dude and Tony only has protection for the Stark Tower because nobody knew where he lived before he decided to just tell the whole world about it. So there’s that.
And Tony has severe PTSD which is why it’s good that he destroyed all the suits. They were only a product of his untreated anxiety.
Tony was filled with Anxiety and over confidence and didnt take precautions to secure his home.
Jane is very affected by Loki. That's a good sign that she's really emotionally invested in the MCU.
Loved this reaction! To answer your question, yes they did use professional skydivers in this movie. Here is a link to a behind the scenes video that shows how they did it. It is pretty amazing! czcams.com/video/RJtLa0Jyzec/video.html
The fact that Coulson got past his security previously was supposed to show how good SHIELD actually was. In this, Tony probably had his security set up more for stuff right at his home, not thinking about looking for rockets from off the coast. This isn't the Tony who has an Iron Legion and wants to create a suit of armor around the world. This is part of how he becomes that guy.
You're spoiling Age of Ultron... lol
Technically Tony is not the type to go around with security. His house or Stark tower doesn't have security. I think in Avengers he was just joking when he said "how did he get past security?"
Stark Industries which actually has security department run by Happy, which Aldrich Killian got through easily.
I dont think Tony really cares for his own safety
I loved this movie!! I'm disappointed you didn't like it. 😕
Ultimately, it's still a comic book, your over analyzing ruined it for you I think 🤔
JARVIS stands for 'Just A Rather Very Intelligent System'.
jane getting scared is hilarious lmaooo
Two situations you definitely don't want, Tony filled with anxiety and Jane filled with water😂
Felt like I was watching James Bond, but I liked it. Was a bit less serious and more fun than the others and was a nice break after the movies leading up to the Avengers.
Shane Black achieved the best in screenwriting with this. And the pinnacle is the "Clean Slate protocol" scene at the end. It's a powerful man giving up the semblance of external power projection...for his true love. Stupid Americans would probably never understand the appeal of giving up power...That's true power
23:59 Star Lord: “it was one time…”
You will see that kid one more time but he won’t be a kid anymore.
So you all get that this Iron Man is about who he is without the suit (essentially still Iron Man) but you DON'T get why they destroyed the suits in the end? Just... what? Talk about completely missing the metaphor! It's the same thing!
And how is it that so many people just don't get that? Maybe more understand it now, but especially when it first came out, all the nerds were crying over the cool suits being destroyed. Like he's a billionaire scientist! You think he can't make more suits???
Out of all the suit ups for Iron Man, my favorite is in this movie. I like how it attachea to him without the assist of the gantry. As for the kid we actually do see him again in Endgame during Tony's funeral.
29:11 that’s Cory Hawkins. Great actor. Mostly known from Straight Outta Compton.
I love this movie and was so surprised at both of your negative reactions. For me, it's terrific and smart, and right up there with Iron Man 1. As others noted, he wasn't destroying the suits as in "no more suits ever," he was simply removing them as the mental crutch (and actual danger to Pepper) that they had become. For me, this movie is fantastic -- it empowers Pepper, brings Tony full circle (and I love that it addresses his trauma), makes him accountable for his past cruelty (seeing Yinsen again got me so emotional!), and continues his journey to becoming a better person. At his core, Tony IS Iron Man -- with or without the suit. He needed to learn that, and that's what this movie did.
But we can agree to disagree! :) Thanks for the fun reaction as always.
Iron Man wasn't exactly facing off against the real Mandarin, or even the Ten Rings at all. But he didn't know.🤔
havent seen your reactions in a while! missed you guys!
They did sky dive. A lot. There is a doc about it on youtube
I think the reason he got rid of the suits was because they were tied to his PTSD.
That obsession with the suits during his time of stress and anxiety, he'd go back to them constantly. That's why he literally had tens of them.
Getting rid of the suits was him breaking his ties, his attatchment to the wormhole and how he had to cope with that experience. You notice he's just also always going around in the suit.
Tony once said, "If you're nothing without the suit, than you shouldn't have it." He says this after going through that journey, realizing that it wasn't the suits that made him Iron Man.
With all that being said, this movie sacrafices logic for these themes.
He literally does nothing to protect his home. Understandable considering he has regular panic attacks and had the guts to call a terrorist to his home. But JARVIS should have been on duty anyways.
Also, him destroying the suits was him kinda getting rid of security.
It's a weird thing. The writers would probably have had to choose between the concept of false security in his suits and actual protection from threats. The dude is a superhero.
All in all, it works for the themes of the movie, but when it comes to the logic, it feels a little less strong.
Honestly i hate working here they are so weird 😂 always love to see a smart henchman who like nah im out 😂
The vice presidents daughter in the wheelchair with only one leg is actually young Jenna Ortega 😂
Seriously doubt Tony would've left arc reactor functional before tossing it in the drink.
And who's gonna tell it's in the ocean?
Tony didn't protect his house because he's tony he's not the best at making decisions
The suit is made of titanium, not vibranium
Waiting for this reaction ♥️
I like. this more than I did at first seeing the after affects of New York
Gee and you said no spoilers. You said at least 2
That aerial rescue scene was done with actual skydivers.
*JV:* _"Don't leave he needs you! He's going through something, mentally. Can't just walk away."_ [Even if threatened by an Iron Man suit. Shrug it off Pepper. Tony's the hero. Only his feelings matter.] 🤣
*Tony's* threat/challenge was dumb. That's kind of the point, I think. We judge things far too often from the outside. When *Tony* said that on live TV it was an emotional response. Not one made of logic and reason. His best friend almost died and is in the hospital.
The film sort of puts the hero under the microscope. This is kind of what made *Marvel Comics* so special. Showing that _they are just people._ And just because they may have a super ability or a shiny iron suit, doesn't make them infallible. Just look at the world around us. We clearly don't behave like we're being suggested ideas from someone with a wider perspective.
And *everything* that he's been through, with almost dying at the end of _Avengers,_ to what happened here to his home, *Happy* almost dying, *Pepper* almost dying, etc. It's one of the reasons he goes so bananas and creates _Ultron._ Because he felt unprepared. And one could say it's _transference,_ but by extension he felt that Earth was unprepared. 🌍
Y'all missed the entire point of the movie. 😩
*JV* I can understand the concern about *Loki's* turn around, and you point out how he was in _Avengers._ But remember, in that film *Thor* faced him at the top of _Stark Tower,_ and we saw a glimmer of uncertainty in *Loki's* eyes, just for a moment. Throughout his appearances in the *Thor* films he has moments of great vulnerability.¹
It's not about being _all in_ with evil. Watching his scene with *Odin* in the first *Thor* film, he is hurt when *Loki* confronts the *All-Father.* There's pain there. Not just being bad for the sake of it.
At least that's my take. Perhaps that explanation doesn't work for some people, but IMO it justifies much of what we saw in the TV show.
I really like *Iron Man 3.* While it's not without its flaws, I think largely it succeeds in a way that will be appreciated more over time. When you talk about _superhero fatigue,_ this is one of those films that breaks up the series of over 20 films in a way that not only gives you more moments to breathe, but learn more about *Tony* than you would otherwise. I also think the dialogue is pretty good.
··•✺•··
¹─ I would argue that *Loki* is the same at the end of _Avengers_ and at the start of his series as he is in the beginning part of *Thor* too. Because at the start of that film (like when he's talking to his mother), he was imprisoned after of what happened in _Avengers._
wait you guys watched the disney series witout finishing all te movies?
Yes 😳
Yeah not a very smart move. They went through the trouble of switching from chronological order to release order just to avoid spoilers... only to start watching Loki which gives away so much stuff they haven't seen yet. Why watch everything else in release order except for that? Smh...
The actor who y'all asked where did you see him from played doctor Dre In the NWA movie straight outta Compton
its not hulkbuster but you can say its kind of a prototype
Loki spoilers😑
The kid does return........
The kid might be coming back into the mcu soon as Iron Lad
That would be weird as Iron Lad is supposed to be a younger Kang aka Nathaniel Richards III from 31st century Earth 6311.
Yell the kid appeared in Avengers Endgame as a grown teenager.
I understand from hearing from others take your time 🙏🏻
Pepper and Jane are one in the same
16:27 You guys are perfectly in sync. So. Damn. Satisfying. Haha
When will you drop your reaction to season 10 episode 11 of doctor who on youtube?
I don't get why people got mad that Tony wasn't the big hero in the climax. This whole movie is about Tony dealing with PTSD. That's not about being the hero, it's about learning to rely on others.
Personally, I liked the Mandarin twist. I'm half Asian and the original Mandarin character people were expecting is a racist Yellow Peril caricature of Asians. Any deviation from the source material was a good thing. (Makes obscene gesture at anyone who had a problem with the Mandarin twist.)
The various incarnations of Mandarin in the MCU are great for what they are not rather than what they are.
Good on Marvel for avoiding the Yellow Peril BS.
Did you all do Thor 2?
I'm guessing you've already been told to check out the *Marvel One-Shot* called _All Hail the King._ If not, here's the link: czcams.com/video/iUU8OBEXhw8/video.html
Supposed to watch it after this film.
Cap was busy. This is the Iron Man movie
Brilliant knockout acting lol
You should react to real steel
The bad guy in Shang-Chi is the real Mandarin
Thumb Up #493! 👍
Thanks for the lively, fun video! 😎🖖
Notes!
A belated appreciation of, JV's, aircraft knowledge during your reáctions to the first movie about the team! 😎👍
Thanks for the cat cameos! 😎👍 😸😺
So, blonde Jane, disagreed with, blonde Pepper, about Tony's life choices, concerning the suits? I was hoping that she could give us more insight into the feminine perspective, into how girlfriends, et cetera, think about their guys going into harm's way. 🤔
Postpartum Depression, like what, Brooke Shields, underwent? 🤔 You have my sympathies. 🖖
Solo missions happen in the comics all of the time. I suppose that you expect them to call in for back-up, like law enforcement does? 🤔 Well, he did get it.
Jañe! She pushes her bust up, more than any other female reactors that I follow! 😁😅 (Or even some males.)
Despite your occasional minor frustrations with certain scenes, I expected higher scores from you two. 🤔
The so-called, "stinger", scene makes the whole narrative, sans credits, a flashback story! Back when the movie was new in theaters, to convince older people to sit through the credits, I would tell them that if they wanted to see who his therapist was, that they needed to remain seated. Little did I know then, that a lot of people are just waiting for a moment to use a restroom. 😉
You keep making reference to the Mandarin and the Ten Rings they are nothing to do with each other Aldrich Killian invented the Mandarin to be his cover while he plots in the background and in Shang Chi his father kidnaps the Mandarin to kill him thats the only connection i dont get why you keep thinking its to do with the ten rings ? Xx
Igor, not Hulkbuster.
Well Hulkbuster Was Featured On Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron

@@SeeJaneGoTV 😂🤝🙏👍👍👍
it's a marvel super hero mcu movie 🎥
I've seen before on Friday May 6th 2013
marvel studios iron man 3 😝👊🏾😝👊🏾😝
it was cool 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Neither of you have seen "A Christmas Story". Besides it being a great movie it has connections to the MCU because the real actor who played the kid plays a recurring character in the MCU
Wife Reaction? She is Jane and you are JV! Although, to be fair, Jane doesn't remember anything apart from breast feeding...
8:05 shes doesnt know scared. Thos man is still stuck in the wormhole... 😕😒 shes acting like hes NOT a freakin avenger...... she couldnt begin to understand
And she didnt act scared.. she acted like some pissed off housewife... which shows shes more annoyed than anything... but shes never built a thing in her life.... TONY chose HER... 😒🙄 so he even built the marriage.......... the house... the money..... the life shes living... is because of him..... shes ungrateful. Which is funny, cuz without her......... 😳😳😳😳😲 tony would fall apart!!! 😲
No marriage. They’re just living together. They don’t get married until the five year gap in Avengers: Endgame. In Avengers: Infinity War, Tony invites Wong to the wedding, indicating that they were engaged at that point.
Ok I hope you didnt miss to watch the end credit scene bcos its important to this movie.
They way I have been told is that Iron Man 3 didnt really happen bcos in the end credit scene we see Tony being in theraphy with Banner talking about a dream he had. So the suits didnt blow up bcos it was a dream that Tony had and it was all a dream.
Btw the little kid will be back ( small spoiler) in Endgame for a scene but dont think you will recognize him.
So if it was all a dream, the kid wouldnt have to be back for that scene if he was just a dream of Tonys 🤔🤔 🤔
ughhh.
444 likes. it was so perfect looking.
sorry not sorry
The Mandarin was suuuuuuch a disappointment. I was expecting an epic battle against the main main baddy that was in the comics... but it was just an actor?!
Yeah, this was just a disappointment. But I'm glad the REAL Mandarin was hinted in a short they filmed and now... Shang-chi. :D
I wasn't a fan of Iron Man 3 at all. The film is still the highest grossing film among the Phase 1 Avenger's characters solo films though.
No it's not, Black panther is the biggest grossing solo character movie
@@jay83 My bad, I meant of the original three, I don't consider The Hulk a part of it.
Not sure how much hulk got, but in general outta the whole infinity saga phase 1-3 Black Panther was the biggest solo movie and 2nd highest out of every marvel movie .. I think It's in-between infinity war and Endgame
@@jay83 Yeah again I'm talking about between the basic three of Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America. I was also talking specifically about the 3rd films box office grosses, which I also didn't specify at the time. The real point was though the film got a lot of hate or was simply disliked in a very vocal way, it still did very well at the box office.
There's good stuff in Iron Man 3, I think I like it much better as time has passed but it still is a huge let down. Definitely one of the lowest mcu movies.
Yeah, Iron Man 3 is no one's favorite MCU movie. Tons of plot holes, and this is about the time when the question, "Where are the other superheroes?" becomes really pressing. All in all, a fun popcorn flick, but don't think too hard about its internal logic.
