It feels so unreal to me how Bonsai enthusiasts say things like "I have bought 4 dozens of trees 50-something years back and here they are" as if it's the most normal thing to do. I think if there's one thing Mr. Chan taught me over the years, it's being patient with things that are important to you. God bless this national treasure of a man.

Just dropping in to say your tanuki videos made me realize the priced down 'miniature supported citrus trees' in our garden center were just shaped-but-not-set saplings with the potential for some height, like a tanuki wrapped around driftwood, and it saved me going to five other stores to find a tall plant I liked. Peter Chang says experimenting is good and you learn by doing, so I took a tree home, undid the ties keeping it in shape, and tied it to a stake. I now have a very cute, slightly twisty, four-foot lemon tree.
    Here's hoping it survives.

I see everything.. and I also see that you have security video Surveillance which is very wise! My favorite nursery in Dayton Ohio was Is recently burglarized and I'm beside myself with Disgust! Northwest Garden Center has the largest selection of bonsai trees in probably a 300 mile radius here in Ohio. I am in first name relationship with the 80+ year old owner and 55+ year old son. Both are Dayton natives.. Everyone older then 30 can sing their commercial which has been playing for 40 plus years. They have bonsai grow from seed that are now 50 years old! The thieves took 3000 dollars from this Dayton landmark but luckily didn't touch the priceless bonsai trees only inches away! The owners wife of 70 years passed away Recently and I feel so bad for him. If anyone is in the Southern Ohio region it's worth a visit definitely. Great selection and prices are behind reasonable. Sometimes I feel like I should pay more its so reasonable.. anyway good vibes and prayers never hurt anyone.

Lol... BUT... being in the tropics limits the choice of trees for bonsai... I can get a couple of types of Juniper fairly easily, but finding a decent conifer is cause for a party! 😁 I'm looking for pyrocanthia and Cotoneaster horizontalis at the mo... no joy yet ☹. Dear Mr. Chan
Thank you for the lovely videos. Wondrous works of living art you create- you are to me a master living legend.
As a 13 yr old I lived in a forest & appreciated the small, weathered trees. I have many houseplants & orchids that are 40+ years old & train huge oak trees, best as possible, to be large bonsai:) I don’t believe there is a finite life span for plants - if cared for properly, they can live indefinitely. In the small coastal town of Little River in California, there are 3000 year old Pigmy pines - some probably older. You wouldn’t know it, they look like 20 yr old beautiful bonsai trees 5-6’ tall.
