Prince said in the song "way back home" from Art official Age album that most people are born dead but he was born alive.....with this dream outside of his head. He knew his purpose and what God put him on earth for and completely full filled it.
It is not God's will for anyone to die of a drug overdose, WTF is wrong with you??
Cocaine gave him that will power.
❤️
That's a whole heap of delusion
You're just chronically 3D conscious.
Prince never had a regular job. Getting a regular job stunts your creativity.
Man you’re not kidding. I hace a family so i have a regular job so I can take care of them. But man it feels like a prison for me because I just want to create art all day. I don’t know if I’m hyper creative. But I’m certainly a total artistic brained person.
@@MrSpeed-lt8gr Man me 2. That is how I know this. Try to create a space for yourself. I went out and leased an office because I couldn't work from home. Good luck. Stay creative.
prince was such a blessing to me as an artist myself and was integral to me learning how to carry myself as an artist. at the time i discovered prince, i was a guitar player, big metal head trying to put a band together. but hearing prince....not only were the songs great, not only did he expose me to the ways synthesizers and drum machines can be used to compose....but his work ethic as well. that was the biggest lesson. prince showed me you CAN do this
i am obviously not as gifted as prince, but what i picked up from prince is, this was a guy who created a universe of his own. he listened to his own rules, played what he wanted, recorded everything...and thats something ive carried to myself and my own music and i now release music every month.
not because im especially talented or anything, but just because prince kind of showed me "there is no reason to stop, just keep going" so i have
Prince was a great teacher of life:
Be Your Own Universe!
was his lesson to all
Dr. Rogers has a great way of explaining things. I've loved all of the videos I've seen of her so far!
Busy and hyper-creative aren't the same. I think people are going to start labeling themselves "hyper-creative" just for the comparison.
Correct. And they forget that prince was a heavy drug user.
@@arjanpetersen No, he wasn’t. Until he started using fentanyl due to his hips. Not sure why he didn’t have surgery done. Jehovah thing? Problem is fentanyl is short acting. I’d not even heard of the tablet form. So you’d have to take it more frequently and it can accumulate in your system. Which is probably what happened when they had to land that plane for the emergency landing. They suppress your breathing and that’s that. I’m sure the end he was clearly addicted, but it started with trying to manage hip pain.

Mine is byproduct of immense trauma and the epigenetic offsets of being Black Man with natural artist abilities and university accredited engineering expertise/understanding.

Im 35 now and my creativity has only increased with my journey as an indie artrepreneur of sound and visuals bridging into engineering/design/biz.
This helps me a lot. Thank u
It really is a lonely life being this waybif youre not famous or socially respected for what makes you unique
Wow
always the race card with you "people"
It's one of the factors that means he was a Creative and a Performance Genius. I'm an artist and I really enjoy her almost physiological explanation of the process.
I highly recommend her book “This Is What It Sounds Like”. Fantastic.
I've watched this whole Susan interview 3 times now. Wish it was longer!
Thanks!
You can, this interview is over an hour long. It was chopped up in segments.
@@ek2thehands I'm talking about the full length interview.

Characteristics of Creative People: Expertise/knowledge, are non-conforming, are curious, are persistent, are intrinsic-motivated - they value accomplishments more than Money-Rewards!
My artist creatively comes from doing it then walking away and relooking at it with fresh eyes and then fine tune it.
No it doesn't
As a multi-instrumentalist myself, and a Prince fan, I can only wish I had that “problem”.
Creativity: Not al intelligent people are creative! Creativity is characterized by divergent thinking. Divergent thinking: a person's thoughts go off in different directions to attain many solutions.
"I'm hyper creative "
"Oh really"
This person worked with Prince and I'm sure she was thinking.
"Prince was the Mt Everest of hyper creativity....and this dude...."
Literally could not watch after the first few seconds cause of this exact back and forth. Look at him in disdain and move on.
And people, kids need to study music, very important! Many schools in America need to have more Music classes in grade school, JH, H.S., College. Adults should also listen to more music and learn to play instruments/sing. Playing instruments/reading music notes will influence people to learn more, avoid stress, be more jovial, etc.
Dr. Rogers, You are a treasure 💜
Great topic! I studied psychology in the mid 2000s.
Prince was a Gemini sun sign, the sign of the artist, inventor, communicator, writer, teacher. He had Moon in Pisces, Mercury in Gemini, Mars in Aries, Venus in Taurus, Rising Scorpio, Leo

Absolutely amazing ❤️❤️
I did 12 new songs after you guys went home😂.
This is amazing listening to..
I am what one might call hyper-creative, to an extreme. I don't know how it is in the minds of other creative people but, for me, there is an endless flow, a stream of potential, ideas, visions, sounds, music, cinematic motion and parallax, as well as some rather indescribable things (as far as our senses go), always going through my mind. I've have these visions as far back as I can recall, to about four years old. When I work on a project, I pull bits and pieces of this stream out of my mind and I build something with it. I compose and produce music, paint, do computer graphics, I made a feature-length film entirely by myself, and so on. If you don't know how to govern this energy then it can be, as she says, a burden as well as blessing. In fact the main arc of my life has been learning how to ride this flow of creative energy.
No you're not
is the product any good ?
@@escaton74 It's all subjective but I've improved over the years. Musically, I'm a better producer than when I was younger and signed to a German industrial label, but my recent effort was named album of the year by a German electronic/ambient/modern classical show (Grenzwellen), which is pretty cool. The only feature I've done looks like the zero-budget affair that it is, but it is well designed. I did a couple online promo shorts for El Rey a few years back. Regarding art, people seem to like what I do, and I have a large interactive piece in development that will include visual art as well as music and sound design. Looking good so far. My entire life has been trying to figure out how to live up to my potential while also being somewhat accessible. It's a struggle.
@@escaton74 he's making it up

If he is making it up, then he still is a creative person!
I agree with "some" of the theories in psychology. I also have been reading Astrology books since I was a kid(in the late 1980s), I believe that a person's astrology chart and Major Aspects influence: Creativity, personality, Learning, etc.
Genetics also influences everyone! More Musician couples need to Procreate!
Thank you

It feels like Leonardo da Vinci could have been classified as a hyper-creative person?

Some Theories: Learning and conditioning, Creativity(Language and cognition), Intelligence, Emotion, Personality.
Capricorns also are fond of Teaching/Telling people info/Leading, etc. I also studied psychology when I was in my late 20s in the mid-2000s, I took several elective credit classes.
Everyone should read psychology books! Having some basic knowledge about the theories of psychology can help people to understand themselves, strangers, negative family members, co-workers, etc.
Psychology should be taught in school. Not gender ideology. But it would make people less subject to manipulations...
@@h.m.7218 I agree, in H.S.. Learning about people's personalities and knowing about general psychology concepts is important.
to me what is being called 'hyper-creative' is really just the natural authentic creative state of being - if one's chakras are not energetically blocked then one can tap into the endlessly creative flow of the universe all the time - not a good idea to reduce this wonderful spiritual process to some physiological bio-neurological gate malfunction - lol
Well it is not. Hyperactivity means a person may seem to move about constantly, including in situations when it is not appropriate, or excessively fidgets, taps, or talks. In adults, hyperactivity may mean extreme restlessness or talking too much. Prince mainly did this because he was using a lot of drugs.
Wow so many self described hyper creatives in this comment thread 🤣
She’s definitely describing my symptoms as a similar artist as my homeboy from the Northside of Minneapolis PRINCE!!
It must be in our water…😂
Who is the musician she is referring to sitting to her left?
One could ask, are hyper-creatives receiving spiritual instructions / downloads...?
Yes...
Yes. Period
Ask your mom
They are using their own brains.
My favorite theories of psychology: Personality traits, Psychodynamic theories, Behavior, Humanistic.
Not saying that my son is Prince but he is this very way.
It can also be a problem when those ideas that you realized are not going to work keep coming back and you think: maybe it wasn't so bad after all and you try it again and it still doesn't work.
Paul McCartney is a hyper creative personality.
He is another Gemini Musician!
So fuckng What!!!?? We're NOT talking 'bout him....
No he is not. Just very gifted hence he can lay down music pretty easy. Which seems he is hyperactive ( if that’s a thing at all.)
Who was the "Tommy" sitting to her left?
Robert Pollard and Prince are both like this.
Prince once described himself as "sort of crazy".
Susan just described what he meant.
It's when you can't turn the music off! They say Tchaikovsky was the same way
Prince and David Bowie were both hyper creative. But Prince outdid Bowie. Prince was freer to his art than Bowie. Whereas Bowie got caught up in drugs and also, as she describes, the "craft side" of his brain.
shotout to Geggy Tah!
Awww, Dax Shepherd thought he was hyper creative because he's busy doing stuff. Weird that he didn't cut that embarrassing part out of the video. Producers always think they're the creative ones and usually end up ruining albums by trying to add their "creative touch".
she's so cool.
😊
I've written and recorded over 1300 songs, and still going! How many songs did Prince write?
No you didn't
@@saturnlizards LMAO!!

1300 songs Hmm? Prolific......
Any of them any good ? Any of them come close to Prince's tracks that were hits?
I'm pretty sure your parents are proud, but what does that have to to do with anything besides pushing your own biz in a prince video? Implying quantity is comparable to quality+quantity is a little Yeesh thanks.
Keep learning playing etc. its awesome in its own way ......
Maybe one of the 1.3K might get enjoyed by other people, who knows.
Rock on, good luck.🤟
I have news for you: You’re not better than Prince.
And the students of astrology know that the water signs, air signs and fire signs tend to be More Creative!
Water signs: Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio. Air signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius. Fire signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius.
sounds like me😅
I couldn't find any proof of that, ask DR GODZILLA
Q: So how does a 'hyper-creative' person ever finish an actual track? I have hundreds of 'snippets' of tracks, but find it VERY difficult to STOP the relentless stream of ideas, constant revisions and 'alternative versions', and just FINISH a track. There's always the fear that the moment I release it, I'll instantly regret it, as I realise all the ways it could have been better.
You need to hire someone you trust to manage your process.
You can. That's is me all day. It just comes. I can just think of something or look at somethinhg and the flood gates will open in my mind. I don't play an instrument, but i can play by ear. If i had the setup and the time and didn't have a relationship, i'd be sort of just like Prince. I've informally sort of studied music all my life since i was five years old. Taught myself how to use drum and figure out drum machines and other electronic equipment. I studied, reseached and taught myself the fashion business and designed my own line. But my head is never without music, a melody, a beat or something musical. I can clearly hear how The Rainbow Children is meant to be a Play. I think a few of his later albums are meant to be plays. I hope so.
Don’t call yourself “Dr” unless you finished med school.
Don't police other people's degrees. Also, don't call yourself Dr. unless your last name is Funk.
@@JP-ve7or LOL
was prince hyper creativity/hyper activity a born trait or was it the result of his drug consumption ?
I have mixed views on this. I think hyper-creatives may have a degree of trauma and use the creative world as an escape from reality. It’s likely that Michael Jackson was also like this based on his musical, lyrical, vocal and visual expressions and traumatic past which fueled his career drive. The difference is that I think Michael benefited from a more experienced, value guiding hand like Quincy Jones and engineer Bruce Swedien to add some stability and conservatism to his (arguably outlandish) ideas from time to time.
If the “creative gate” isn’t hinged properly then you’ll end up with an overcrowding and quality control problem. Crops need good soil, time and irrigation but Prince’s music sounded like he often didn’t have the patience for this. As a result, his artistic landscape is a bit like trying to grow apples, oranges, grapes, olives, coconuts, strawberries, gooseberries, figs and mangos on the same patch of land and expecting they’ll all be ripe at the same time. When I compare his music to Jackson’s the differences in quality and execution are stark; Jackson’s artistry outdoes Prince’s in almost every single way, especially in its timelessness factor.
I agree the first part. Both MJ and Prince had trauma in their live as kids made want to create their own worlds
Well that didn't take long for some Michael Jackson fan to some in here with that Michael is better BS. Do you people ever get tired of hearing yourself. I know it's your opinion but music is subjective. I listen to both of them and can appreciate their music, what is it with you people and this need to declare someone better than someone else. lol
Stop analyzing these people's mindset. Did you know them to study them? I know back in the 80's, Prince dreamed a lot, creating non stop music in his head thus resulting in him not sleeping well because his mind was constantly bumping music. MJ and Prince were two totally different creatures, not even having the same vibe. I still wonder why people compared them. Despite rumor, they didn't.
It seems like you’re describing QUINCY’S artistry, not MJ’s.
MJ had Quincy to sweep up his creativity and put it in neat little piles and I like it but us Prince fans are more attracted to the mess, I guess.
We like it strewn all over the place. We want to lay in it and make snow angels. Pure fun with no adults in the room telling us to tidy up and not get dirty.
Hyperactivity means a person may seem to move about constantly, including in situations when it is not appropriate, or excessively fidgets, taps, or talks. In adults, hyperactivity may mean extreme restlessness or talking too much. Prince was just very creative. And using lots of drugs… hence it seems he is hyperactive…
How someboby not créative can explain créativity U completlely wrong ,, crétivity come with culturel sciences
It suprises me that these pseudo explanations pass. You would be better off reading De Bono - Beyond Yes and No
Pure quackery ! A pathetic extrapolation of psychology.
I'm sure she's a fine engineer but also; so overly pretentious and ..boring at the same time. A lot of the time she utters empty words that only sound profound but there is nothing behind the abstractions she throws out.. fluffy language! Just my two cents.
Prince was no more creative than any other artist and musician can be. He took new technology, new MTV music, and new musical styles, to where he lived, and helped to create a new musical scene as a local. He bought the same synthesizer Gino Vanelli used and copied the same sounds and some of their uses as chords. Prince was a total control freak, more than anything else, having his new music tech and looks and going for fame. You know what it cost him. He's dead, far too soon. He became local for me, in Toronto. Too bad you just come off as being self-promotional. Prince wasn't a jazz or symphony musician, that's for sure.
Prince was a clinical drug users hence he had a bit more “energy” than others. I know a lot of people will glorify prince for working so hard. As if that’s a thing at all, outside usa. He was just fentanyl and loads of cocaine. People are not that superhuman.
Saying the same thing five times doesn't make it true.
BS. You have access to his medical records? I've known a lot of "heavy drug users" and most of them aren't highly functional. They certainly aren't building Paisley Park, writing and recording thousands of songs and touring the world.
For those who are interested in reading psychology books: Macmillan Learning Books. Myers Books.
Prince totally ripped offf little Richard’s look and style
Little Richard, a great creative.
Ripped him off, or played a great homage to Lil Richard's talent?
