Yet another Eva video from me. I started this in Jan 2013, did a few seconds, then got too busy to do anything else. Then I decided to finish it this weekend for Sakura-con. (Edit: Holy crap, where it won Best Technical, and both Judges and Audience Best in Show and then later Best Action at Anime Boston!)

The best thing about this video's editing is without a doubt the sense of weight that it manages to convey. I mean, like, just viewing it emits a near-physical heft each time the bass kicks in and an Eva slams something, the camera snaps in or out, a fast movement is initiated, and so-on. It's a great accomplishment, really.
Thank you! One of my favorite parts of editing is managing to make the visuals "sound" like the music. It's just so....satisfying. :D
***** And it's staggering how well you manage to convey it. The more I watch, the more I notice how in-sync both the cuts and animation is with every layer of the music track. Every single bass layer, drum beat, kick, electronic buzz, has a weight and hit that's synonymous in the video. I think more AMV makers have to focus on stuff like this, making videos that compliment that source material just as well as the music rather than focusing on less... static elements. I mostly work with trailers and tribute AMVs (other channel), but I would love to tackle something like this one day, something that seems like it could legitimately stand on its own for as great a display for the series as it does for the song and band. As somebody who loves researching audio and video editing for a less shallow effect, all I can say is: Bravo.
For me, this is the real music "video" for Radioactive. I don't really like their version, but this one is Godly.
Yeah the original video is random as hell. I was drunk the first time I saw it and kept yelling "WATCH THE LITTLE PINK GUY! HE'S GONNA FUCK EVERYBODY UP!"
Actually to be honest, a lot of music is more defined by their inclusion in high quality AMVs than their original MV, such as Illiea's and Shin's, among others.

I always wondered why mobile would block a song while PC can view it. The reason makes sense. Because you can't take a pc anywhere and stream music on the go, unlike the CZcams app.
So in essence, it's to prevent people from streaming their music just anywhere from places that give them no revenue.
Did you like 3.0? Your AMV is aspirational, though I noticed the complete omission of 3.0.
Most AMVs don't have a good music/showclip synergy. This, on the other hand does.

If the 'AMV' doesn't have clip syncing then I don't even consider it an AMV. It's just some clips from an anime with music on the top. Anyone could do it. Syncing however takes time and thought, and it's the editing that truly makes an AMV enjoyable. I will never understand why some AMVs on CZcams that are so poorly edited are well received.
Been watching amv's for past 12 years, Have never seen any thing even close to this masterpiece. I wish there was option to thumbs up* 1000.

I saw this played during the closing ceremony at Sakuracon and it gave me goosebumps. The bass blasting through the room made this just incredible.

My god, if only more people understood syncing a song's beat to whats happening in the video like you do, instead of haphazardly putting together random clips to a song and calling it a day. Really, quality video this is.
Man, I feel so sorry for the people who start Evangelion by watching the Rebuild movies first. Some people don't even bother to watch the original series at all.
i last watched the original series when i was a kid so i decided to watch it again yesterday....and maaann...it really fucks your head up sometimes (and I love it) XDD

the movies are great, but of course the original series is better because it has this thing that fucks with your brain at times that the rebuild movies don't have (in my opinion)

Thanks! I'm not a big fan of the "mask every single scene" trend that's popped up recently. I just think it lacks character, y'know? It's become cruise control for transitions. It certainly has its time and place to be used effectively, (I've utilized it before myself), but not every single scene change...
This AMV is the proof that you dont need good transition to make a good AMV.

Me and some fellas were browsing youtube and I shared this and 11 years later it's still on a higher level to many AMVs. It's very well timed.
honestly this is one of my absolute favorite amvs. i've noticed a trend with more talented editors to rely a lot on special effects but nothing will ever beat the meticulous effort that goes into editing together well-timed clips like this video has. literally every second of it is impressively thought out. this deserves all of the awards it won! thanks for all your hard work.

Absolutely incredible. I was lucky enough to be at the closing ceremony and I can tell you I've never had goosebumps like when I watched this in the theatre with a booming sound system and a huge screen. Perfection, and it loses none of its impact on a smaller screen. Honestly, bravo!

This was amazing, whoever made this, I take my fucking hat off to you.
I have never seen this anime, but the way this amv was edited made it very easy to follow, considering how tedious it all was. I cannot imagine how long it must've taken to make this, but it truly is brilliant the approach you did. It hardly depended on effects to keep up with the tempo of the song. You made use of mainly one transition and the clips themselves which I gotta say is just so perfect how the timing worked out so well. There were some moments that I felt it was too slow or too fast, but overall I feel that you had an excellent flow throughout this video. Awesome job :D!

If all you're looking for in Evangelion is action, then yes it'd be tedious to you. It's about more than the giant robot battles, there's also a lot about the psychological effect warfare has on people, especially since the main character is so young. It not only shows him kicking giant robot ass, but his mental breakdowns afterward.
It's the Madoka Magica of mech shows. So you might have missed the entire point of it. Though it goes a little slow, I think that's appropriate pacing.
Though yes, this AMV is pretty great.

Rebuild are more faithful to Anno's vision, even I was disappointed of the major differences between Neon Genesis and Rebuild. And right now I do have many questions about the 3rd movie like, what happened during the time that Shinji was dead ?

I've never seen NGE is it good? it looks fantastic from watching this video.
I enjoyed the Rebuilds (Well...the first two...). I'm not sure about the series, I've only seen the first few episodes. The End of Evangelion and Death and Rebirth movies were....confusing, but I expect that's because I hadn't finished the series haha.
***** I loved that they decided to completely defy expectations and go a completely different direction. But I do think it is oddly paced and does a bit of a disservice to some of the smaller characters.
