Rural Japan is home to Katsuhiro Miura, who's also referred to as Hands of God. Miura has built a reputation as one of the finest golf iron forgers in the world, and some rumor he was the maker of the clubs Tiger Woods used during his best years.
In this adventure, Erik takes part in a one-of-kind iron fitting session and factory tour from Miura himself, while learning exactly what sets them apart.
Adventures in Golf takes you around the world to places you'd never think golf would exist.
From the slums of Mumbai to a Louisiana prison, no adventure is too gnarly for host Erik Anders Lang. Watch for the golf, stay for the adventure.
Highlighting golf's fun, weird, and ridiculous side.
Skratch is the home of Adventures In Golf with Erik Anders Lang, pranks, challenges, Boo vs Beef, as well as collaborations with the one and only DJ Steve Porter.

That intensity of Miura watching every ball strike...no tech...just feel, intuition, and experience. Simply amazing!
I would poop myself under that much pressure.
@Strad 4321 When I had my Custom fitting done at Kenneth Smith in Shawnee Mission Kansas 28 years ago , he did the same thing . Just put a club in my hands and I hit the ball , he watched everything and then he would keep switching until I was hitting that blade pure !
I still have them and play them when I feel like I am hitting the ball well , as they are magic when you're playing well .
I payed $210 a club ( set of 8 irons ) way back then and people didn't bash them like they do with very high end clubs built today , just because they can't afford a set . But when you pay that much money they last a LONG time and are worth it !
Mango Man Yeah, Right
Strad 4321 and you believed this bullshit about old Japanese masters. 🤓
Totally.
Erik, I believe this video is above and beyond your best work. This video solidifies your thesis that golf is a game that bridges generations, melts cultures, and quite literally forges a world that is centered around the experiences we all have from a game which connects us all.
This is why we love Erik and why this series is so special. Well said Paul.
Couldnt have said it better
Well said Paul. I'm trying really hard to say something profound but that would be a pointless exercise.
Well said Paul! And probably the reason why we love Erik and his show!
Well said Sir.
To Erik and all the AIG team. This was quite simply, a spectacular piece of filmmaking. Congratulations!
I didn't realize Fosh was a golfer
Silly golf lesssgooooooooooooooooo
Been buzzing for this episode! Didn't disappoint, awesome work
Possibly a set of Miura's in the future for Mr. Fox? Lol
Peter I see you lurking over here! This guy makes some good steel huh?
is it true that the sweet spot is close to the heel?
My friend: “got these new ping irons”
Other friend: “got the new AP2’s”
Me: “have a set of irons hand crafted by a Japanese samurai master”
My friends: so what kind of clubs are you into?
Me: it's complicated.
@matty burrows MB-101, nasty blades.
@matty burrows for irons or actual weaponry?
@matty burrows you mean where they attach the hosel to the head? Seems like a bit of a nitpick to me?
@matty burrows But in the general parlance today, irons are either cavity back or blades. I don't think most people will agree that the MB-101 are not blades simply because of the method of fabrication. Their MC-501 are absolutely cavity backs and they describe them as such.
You have lived one of the highest honours a golfer could experience, not only meeting Mr.Miura himself, but having him personally make an iron for you !!!! Wow !!!! Thank you for sharing it.
And play a round with him!
amazing!
I wish this video was like an hour long... probably so much more to see, and other stories that could be told - but I'll take what I can get!
...like an hour; or an actual hour?
Literally the greatest channel in the history of CZcams.
Badger Milk would have to disagree on that one! 🤔
@@GoProMallory We all know PewDiePie is great but this is something else.
M Oz not even close to who I was talking about!

I've seen every single episode in the last 48 hours because I'm in hospice, and this is without a doubt the best episode.
I’m assuming you’re no longer with us. Rest well friend. Hope you’re hitting all the heavenly fairways:)
@@rossgraham8248 nahhhh
@@BennettHickey well that’s great to hear😃 Usually you hear hear hospice and assume the worst.
I spent quite a lot of time in Japan over the years. Miura-san has a real 'pensive artisan' aura about him. Softly spoken, but very deliberate. A perfect embodiment of Japan's ancient respect for thoughtful craftsmanship. Skills and knowledge honed to precision; unhurried by the ticking clock of deadlines or the pressures of trend or fad. Respect.
when youve perfected your craftmanship over a span of 5 or 6 decades, and that people come to you for THAT skill, they know they are on YOUR clock.
Always has been my favorite iron to hit and I don’t even have a set of my own haha
You guys should totally get a pair and review them together (everyone in gm golf)
To be fitted by katsuhiro himself like this with just him watching the strike, listening to the sound and looking at the face would be sooooo epic.
My dad passed onto his old miura irons. I thought they were some generic brand, but they felt really nice. I did some research once I found out they were made in Japan and now I appreciate them so much more
that's very special. now it's like a family heirloom :)
That spin forging is as cool as he thought it looked. 8:44
First they have to clamp the iron precisely. Then the pre machined hosel is spun like a drill bit at some huge amount of rpm's. The machine that spins the hosel also presses it onto the iron creating a ton of friction. The heat created by that friction is what welds/forges the 2 pieces together. Ingenious solution.
Friction welding the hosel... That is beautiful.
Exactly what I thought
Can Miura make a club just for beating the one person that disliked this
Seven ppl now. Seven more and we'll have a full set.
14 now, however it baffles me why there are 14 dislikes? What part of the content could possibly have offended them is just beyond me. Having recently purchased a set of MC 501s shown in the video, I can honestly say they are excellent, Im in love with the solid strike feel.
Jeff Lin hey Jeff just curious how much did the full set cost you? I know it’s great quality so I’m sure price is up there with it.. thanks
Hi bobby emery , I paid just over 1,300 US dollars for a set of 5-P, with modus 3 105s and MCC plus4 Align. I live in Taiwan so these figures might not be the best reference though. I actually consider them a bit of bargain at that price, consider how much a set of new clubs from mainstream brands are these days. Just get them, you won’t regret it.
He'd have to see your swing first.
The message of this video reaches beyond that of just golf. Put in the hard work and you get results. Don’t cut corners because you’ll only be cheating yourself in the end. Such an underrated gem of a CZcams series. Erik one day we will play a round together.
Probably my favourite episode yet! More of this type of thing please.
This episode is just hands down one of the best videos of golf out there. This show is absolutely killing it!
Cannot believe how I missed this video for over 3 years. Wow. What a chance in life, thanks for sharing!
This episode if one of your best ones, without a doubt. Such mystic around the man!
This is the most under appreciated, underrated golf channel on CZcams. Everyone please share it to get the recognition it deserves.
*Mr. Miura a living human legend. I would have made of mess of myself before him, your so lucky to meet him thank you for sharing.*
Great way to end season 3. Thanks for everyone that made this show happen.
Man. This channel and this series has been by far the best discovery I've made on youtube. What a well told story. Absolutely beautiful content. Thank you.
somehow these videos keep getting better and better. It really makes us viewers feel we are right there in the video as you are going through these amazing journeys. I can't thank you enough!
I’ve watched this video a handful of times and I get the same amount of joy each time. Great work Erik. Mr. Muira May you and your son’s continue to be blessed
Erik and his team are Hollywood people that know the way to my heart. Even showed us a nice little Titleist gem in that case. Let's be real, Miura was the only man to do the job for Tiger. Thank you so much.
I have never been so insanely envious and awestruck at the same time. Amazing you got to do this, I love seeing people who're so passionate about their life's work and see someone who can approach it with the same reverence they do , just as Erik did here.
This has easily been my favorite AIG episode... Ever since Erik mentioned it on his podcast I was itching to see what they produced. This does not disappoint in the slightest. Great job team!
WOW, I watched this vid with tears in my eyes and was laughing at the same time. There are moments in life when we are in contact with greatness, meeting Katsuhiro Miura was your moment. Thank you for sharing it with us, it has been an honour as well as a privilege.
The diplomatic answer to the tiger question makes me like him even more! They have such a joy in their craftsmanship, it's really quite amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Erik. Adventures in golf are some of the best documentaries about anything, let alone golf. Thank you. 👍
I thought i was going to watch 1 minute and skip. I love Japan and its people. The dedication to perfection and loyalty is incredible.
Up there with the best short of the series. What a hidden gem of a story that we've all been waiting for.
This is a magical factory and the story is just wonderful. Thank you for being able to capture this beautiful experience
That was an incredible video because Mr. Katsuhiro Miura defines what it means to be a man: a real man has a vision, & then, in his own way, makes it happen. Miura did an apprenticeship, learned to make golf clubs one way, & then, took it a step further. He's a man.
And this is the best episode of adventures in golf…
Best episode in this season. It was so awesome to watch it! Thank you Erik!
Look forward to this show everyweek so so much. Another gem!
Kind of lost for words... I love Japan and Adventures in Golf, so this episode was absolutely amazing. As usual fantastic work Erik.
What I love about this series is that you don’t even have to play or be good at golf to enjoy it, it shines a light on the people of golf around the world. Amazing video.
What an honour for the main man to offer to make a club for you Erik. To then go and have a round of Golf with him too! My mind is blown, I'm surprised you even made Contact with the ball. I'm sure they appreciated the respect you showed them.
Thank you for this episode. I have long been a fan of Miura clubs and for the last 2 years I have been the proud owner of a set. Thank you for taking the time to learn some of the customs and leaving a good impression of westerners. What an amazing experience that must have been. I go to Himeji every year.... perhaps I should pay the Miura factory a visit. Keep up the awesome work.
This season is getting better with every episode. Amazing work Erik and the rest of the team.
This is absolutely my favorite episode of the whole series. Would love to see more
Thank you Erik. Adventures in Golf has made me fall in love with Golf more than I thought possible.
Congratulations on such an amazing episode. Thank you for sharing what golf can be about. More often than not I hear people say golf is about exclusive country club when they hear that I play golf. But that’s so not what golf is about. I love how you show all that golf can be: ground on local culture, bring people together, have some fun, and so much more!
This is my favorite episode you've ever done. Great job!
I have watched every episode of this series and this one is hands down my favorite. What an incredible story you share Erik.
Erik you come across so humble in your videos. Just an average guy who is travelling across the world to document so many interesting stories about golf! Absolutely love your work man! Keep it up
The process is amazing to see and the hand of the master Katsuhiro Miura touches each iron individually crafted to perfection.
thank you erik for making me love golf even more each week
From the slums of india to this. Iam lost for words. This is quality Erik. Bravo
ERIK! You are the man. thanks so much for this channel. cant wait to see what the future has in store for you!
We all read books, watch tv series and even movies that we don’t ever want to end. Skratch, Erik and production team, this video gave me the same feeling. Seeing such passion put forth would anchor any “would-be” golfer to take up this timeless sport. Thank you.
Goosebumps, Erik! Thank u! Miura is a living myth. Top-notch working ethic. Thank u Erik & Thank u Skratch!
I have only recently discovered this series. Erik, this is one of your best. I hope you enjoyed making it as much as I did watching!
Dude I dint breathe the whole 12 minutes great job just a dream get my equipment fitted and made by this grandmaster 👼 deep respect good stuff !
This episode had everything, the knowledge, the experience, this was a journey in itself, thank you Skratch and Erik :)
What a dream video you've made, Erik-san! I was in Himeji to visit Miura-san and sons in 2014, and this episode took me right back. Besides the wonderful Miura family, their factory and that area are two of the best places in my memory. Thank you so much!
Wow... such an awesome mini documentary.
Two masters of their craft... Miura San, a ninja of manufacturing the golf club, made with the love and passion of true master. And Erik... a master golf story teller. Mate your work is the best I have ever seen. You leave any mainstream golf documentaries in the dust. Your ability to capture the authenticity of the subject at hand and tell it is monumental. And choosing off subject (real) courses and people is epic. Keep up the great work and I hope more people find your work, because you really deserve a lot more accolades and views than your getting.
Blessings brother and know that the people who are watching your content really do love and appreciate your artistry and your works.
Possibly the best golf video on YT EVER! What a man Miura is so pure
The episodes are just getting better and better!
Eric, I love golf, have done for nearly half a century. I was brought up to respect traditions and history. I find that fascinating, so do more reading and research. Just to see this video, is pure joy. Certainly my favourite thing ever on your channel. What a privilege to have this experience. Thank you so much for sharing.
Chris Mayor I don’t even golf but love the sport! What honor he brought with this video respecting an icon!
loophiker well said !
This is legend. Great upload, thanks Erik.
nothing compares to the game of golf. this is my favorite video youve made!
So glad I found this series
Two words, "awe inspiring" to see golf through his eyes and the knowledge he has must have been unbelievable.
Wow, very well done. Thank you for taking us inside Mr. Miura’s factory; I’m sure every golfer has wanted to see this inside view for some time. Keep up the great work.
Wow, I can see why this is your favorite episode Erik. Such passion and intensity to produce an exquisite product. Amazing!!!
I have never been jealous of anyone in or around the sport of golf until now. Fantastic episode for the layman of golf to really appreciate.
Another fantastic season Erik! Can't wait for the next one!
now I have something to look forward to every tuesday, keep up the great work
Every week you make me love golf more an more. Thank you
This video has become my favourite on youtube to date..I've watched is many times now and its amazin to see the craftmanship that goes into these clubs...awesome video keep them coming
Thanks for taking us to Japan to show us this master craftsman. What a thrill it must've been to meet Miura San and play golf with him.
One of the best yet !!!
When he said the sweet spot is closer to the hosel my stomach collapsed.
This was a gorgeous video in so many ways. Stunning visually as per usual with such a warm feel to it emotionally. Loved it
Wow wow wow!
I've had a custom fitting once.
To make my experience feel cheap, this guy gets his club fitted, crafted, and worked on by the master himself.
That by itself is a dream unattainable by the vast majority of golfers in the world.
Then he plays a round with him...
I can't help but think I'll be a bit salty every time I get fitted in the future.
UNREAL. Thanks, Erik.
Love the craftsmanship and pride!!
Wow this one was amazing. So good to see a story about something special and unique other than the course or how naked Erik is.
Might be my favourite episode. That was great!
A beautiful piece of film. Thank you, Eric.
Best episode yet. Thank you Anders Lang San.
Absolutely unreal!
I think this is one of my favourite golf videos of all time
Wow , thanks for sharing that experience, the craftsmanship is pure and amazing !
Best one yet. Well done.
Great video. It's so rare these days to find high quality and people with passion for quality
Simply amazing! Which I could watch Miura for hours..
Man, I don’t even play golf and I’m still coming back to watch this guys videos. Good job dude, love the content!
Always rewatch this video, such a great episode dude!
Every episode I'm like wow that was so good how are they going to top this one, then the next episode comes out and it blows my mind even more! Best series on CZcams!!
What an awesome experience! Thanks for sharing. I would swear that Mr. Miura wasn't even looking at some of those shots, and was "sensing" them! You really got to spend time in the presence of excellence! There is nothing that's felt better than my Miura 1957 wedges!
Great work! One of my favorite episodes yet!
OMG! Erik Anders who on the planet is better than you? What an absolute dream come true trip! I mean Mr. Miura personally made you a set of clubs that he himself fit you for. Unbelievable! I am beyond jealous and so stoked that you had the opportunity to do this trip/film. Thank you so much!
My favourite one yet! Had Miuras for a while, , but appreciate them even more now!
