Width with your hands on the way back and in early transition is a good thing. Getting too narrow in your golf swing can cause angle of attack problems, and issues with swing direction and contact, clubface control and distance. In this video I’m giving you my favorite golf drill to train more width into your swing

The other benefit I see in this drill that I like a lot is the ability to stay connected and in synch. Arms can't collapse or outrun the body and shoulder turn on the downswing. The follow-through position this drill puts you in is outstanding as well. Another great video Eric!

Another great video and clear instruction, much appreciated. Your videos are a big hit in our house, as the kids love how clear you make everything. They even love your "passion" (e.g. the very rare but exciting "adult" language you use) :)

Really enjoyed the trail arm degrees breakdown by 30 + 30 + 30 to about 90 total, found that visually very nice to imitate. Always tried to keep a lot of depth in my backswing. Thanks so much for this basket drill, really helped me keep balanced and control.

I'm 62, and my full body cooking is not what it was as my 20's, I'm trying to chase distance with my 3 iron, but only can get anywhere between 150-160 of the ground maybe 170 off the tee, should I be satisfied and move on? While I get 200-230 with driver and about 190 with fairway wood number three of the turf.. can't understand why my irons sufder so much.

      Hey Mitchell!
Hard to say 100% without seeing your swing, but it's always a great idea to get fit to ensure the clubs aren't causing any issues for you.
Also, you can send us your swings at www.cogornogolf.com/freetrial so we can work on your game together! Would love to have you join the team!

Does make the trail elbow work correctly as mine works further behind me on the down swing, think it might be bent too much or maybe to nartow

I feel that I often exaggerate the width with my shoulders, making me look very hunched and probably losing both speed and precision. What's your advice on shoulders?

    • @CogornoGolf

Obi Wan in the absence of a large range bucket like you’re employing, can you use a beach ball who’s circumference is about the same as the aperture of the range bucket? Wouldn’t want to get caught stealing a range bucket so as to do this drill at home :0). BTW great video and drill!
