Over the last 3 weeks, Zach Wilson has been 12th in adjusted completion percentage and 19th in QBR. Growth. Hes a backup performing like a mid level starter
He's another in a long line of young guys trying not to die as his front line plays fall down don't block. Or stand up don't block. Again the NYJ have wasted more potential quarterbacks than a gumball machine. Zach Wilson aint the problem. There's a reason they hqven't won a superbowl since namath and their's a reason Joe still prone to hit the booze...not quite as hard as he got hit...but occasionally its close.
Dude you've had me on the Zach Wilson hopium for a while now and I gotta say it feels great to see him finally making some real strides forward this year. God I can't wait for tomorrow this bye week has been tough this year lmao
I have never rooted more for any player than I am rooting for Zach. If he gets to where he COULD be, from what he's had to go through in NY, well that will be a beautiful story.
REQUEST: You should totally do a Thomas Morstead breakdown at some point this year. This mans punting has kept us in so many games and I would argue was the catalyst that began the turnaround of the season with the 2 games with back to back safeties.
Ty, again, for bringing out the postives of Players making great plays, including myself, I tend to focus on the negative, idk maybe because everybody in the world has been killing this kid in the media, but there's no doubt that Wilsons been playing to a higher level and like what's been said no turnovers, but is it because he's not taking those chances when he should or is he's making the right decisions, well let's see plenty of football left! let's go Jets!
Well done Luke! He better be ready for Martindale as the Giants will do everything to confuse and rattle him. This is where he needs to shine and make them pay second level as there should be man coverage on many of these plays.
Spot on Luke 🎯 His maturity in the pocket is jumping off the tape. Some of the throws he makes can only be made by a handful of people on the planet. His footwork and fundamentals are starting to shine. Any predictions for tomorrow? I'm going Jets 27-16
The throw to Garrett Wilson down the sideline reminded me a lot situationally of the pass Zach threw at the Hall of Fame game to kick off the preseason. That play featured prominently on an episode of Hard Knocks, and Aaron Rodgers was wearing the headset that day and called for it. I'm wondering if he did that again on Sunday. Will be interesting to see how ZW plays against the Giants, they get good pressure on the quarterback and the ball will need to come out quick, but Zach will have to be careful in the middle of the field because the Giants young linebacker corps is pretty talented.
Great analysis. I'm not so worried about where Zach is now. I'm just going by his trajectory and where he can be by the end of the season. Remember that not too long ago he was borderline unwatchable/unplayable. Then came small improvement steps and then a bigger corner in the KC game. It doesn't happen overnight but he's making great strides and doing it in the NY market where patience is not in the vocabulary.I feel if we can get into the playoffs, we can really make some noise.
On the deep pass to Conklin, Conklin would have landed inbounds but the defender forced him out. Sunday Weather - looks like light intermittent rain with very little accumulation and very little wind, so pretty good forecast for an outdoor stadium for passing conditions. Zach - if they throw on 1st downs it means Saleh is unleashing Hackett to be aggressive. Zach - I would love to see us use the hurry-up offense as a first half attack, its also very good practice for what you need to do in future games, and its tires out the defense. If you only use the hurry-up when you're trailing then it won't be as coordinated and you will be running it under pressure with little time, need to use it as an attack option. I think the Jets are meshing on Offense and Defense and will win easy. But these are the caveats: 1 - Its a Giant crowd, so a lot of noise, we need to get that silent snap count down, as it will be brutally loud in Buffalo. 2 - The Giant backup OL and DL kicked our starter's OL and DL butts in the preseason game, so that's a big concern. 3 - Randall Cobb and Dalvin Cook need to sit out, especially if they are trading Cook as he needs to be healthy to be swapped.
Luke, how much credit do you give to Hackett, and to Rodgers ? Its got to be a huge lift for Zach to have his childhood idol [AR] telling him "You can do this Zach, you have the physical tools, I can help with the mental aspects of playing QB in the NFL" I'm excited for the future of this team and for Zach Wilson
I agree that his improvement is clear and significant. That said, my concern with him is that he may be at his ceiling. While he's become a qb we can win with, I'm not sure he can get us to elite status in the NFL. Ultimately, we'll need that beyond whatever Rodgers has left upon his return.
He is a lot better, you can tell he focused on fundamentals all off season. If he keep this up he will be at least a mid league type of QB performance in 2 years.
I was expecting this jump last season. The fundamentals are tremendously better.... that was my biggest issue, sloppy mechanics which left him unable to make easy throws. And I agree, more shots field... even if it's a max protect 2 man route
I still think this past Game vs giants Zac was good (under circumstances) not that he didnt have soem questisonable decisions ... but 24 seconds no time outs kinda made history
He does share some of the blame, as he should as QB, but I believe the run game , which in turn is affected by our o line, is the main culprit. We don’t have a Curtis Martin style back that is really good at 3-4 yards a play, elite at 1-2 yards for a 1st down when the d was trying to stop the run. Hall is a home run hitter, but that might be the o line not giving him the lanes. Hopefully Cook can be the short distance bruiser we need.
Given that Zach is using his eyes to manipulate the safeties and has made considerable progress in his anticipation throws and mechanics, Aaron Rodgers could be the finest quarterback coach in the game. To sum up, I don't give a damn if Aaron Rodgers doesn't play a snap for the remainder of the season since he has earned every dollar by helping to develop Zach Wilson.
The throw from the 8yd line to Garrett Wilson isn’t the greatest throw. Could of been the weather that didn’t make it the greatest ball. Garrett made a great catch. Had to come back for it. If Zack whips it a tad more. He catches Garrett Wilson for a bomb. I promise you we will see one of those this year !!!! 💚 ✈️
Zach Wilson is better than Geno Smith was… Just give him time… That first pass to Garret Wilson is major… Take note that he was 1 yard away from being sacked for a safety.
Geno is weird in that he can function with a shit o line but needs a great wr core. The jets have him a bad or underwhelming wr core and an elite o line

@PlayLikeAJet It's not a lack of understanding. Everything I listed are facts. You can't cherry pick statistics , if I completed 7 out of 10 3 yard passes I would have a 70% completion % also. The trained eye says Zach is not the guy. He missed the throws that would make the Jets 5-1. Look at the throws in your video, the 1st throw was a tad late and it was a great "catch " not throw. You showed a throw that was out of bounds. This isn't knit picking , Zach has underthrown that pass at least 12-15 times in the pros. T,Johnson, Hall, GW, Lazard, Conklin ,Smith. Mims, Usamah, Berrios and Davis were all behind defenders by 2 to 5 yards, Zach has never led someone downfield for a TD with YAC on a simple go route. Everything state is true, we didn't draft a game manager at 2. A QB has NEVER succeeded after this level of ineptitude over 3 years. He is has a top wr1, RB and TE combo in football. Mahomes , Allen, Burrow and Rodgers have 20 more TD's in 3 years if they replicated every single throw Wilson has made.
@@TonydaGMtop 3 in drops of QBs, many easy catches see Carter. No consistent run game going back to Hall last year injury. @e365exercise3 I don't want Simeon , I want to draft a real QB. Zach Wilson will never be a NFL QB, it's all over his film. I wrote somewhere predraft that Wilson would lose a NFL team 2-4 games per year with his inability to hit moving targets down field with touch. It's excuse after excuse. He has 2 short TD passes this year. The other 2 TD's should be credited to GW. Go look at CJ Shroud throw a football. Zach can't do what he does physically. Blaming everything around him when every other QB who has played for the Jets has doubled his output. Zach has the throws, he can't make them. You can't blame the o-line for Zach Eilson inability to throw a pass in the NFL. Why does GW need to jump 13 yards in the air to snag a horrible pass with only a LB to beat and 50 yards of green in front of him. It's in every tape.
@@TonydaGM so you wanted to give Darnold another year? I wanted that too, but Jet fans are too quick to give up on our QBs.
