In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security. ... that Japan and the Philippines will be found to be the corner-stones of such a Pacific security system and that if we can contrive to retain effective control over these areas there can be no serious threat to our security from the East within our time.
Taiwan was added to the Pacific security system after Chiang's army retreated to the island of Taiwan in 1949. South Korea was added after the Korean War in 1953. The attempt with Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia was abandoned in 1975.

It's not insecure. It's prudent when you have USA bloc surrounding you and invading and occupying basically every one of your neighbours and would be in nk and Vietnam too if China didn't take action, and is also selling weapons to divide China and start war in Taiwan, and is waging trade and technology war because it can no longer wage direct war because of chinas prudence and strength. Nothing to do with insecurity, but reality.
USA is the one who's insecure and thinks China or anyone is a threat to it when China is 10,000km away and has no interest in containing or attacking USA or overthrowing or changing it

The Anglo countries-Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the US-get along really well and have formed strong alliances like Five Eyes and AUKUS. On the other hand, there are a lot of conflict between Confucian countries, influenced by Chinese culture. I blame China for it. China does not know how to unite and lead these countries effectively, which would be in its best interest. Instead, China often tries to weaken its neighbours to keep them from becoming strong. For instance, China uses its relationships with North Korea and Cambodia to influence South Korea and Vietnam, conducts military drills to coerce Taiwan, and weaponizes water in the Mekong River to threaten countries like Vietnam. Unless China changes its attitude and becomes a real friend to its Confucian neighbours, nothing will happen.
