- A SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket launched the USSF-44 mission for the US Space Force on Nov. 1, 2022. The rocket lifted off from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Full Story: www.space.com/spacex-falcon-h...
Several minutes after launch, the side boosters touched down safely back at SpaceX's landing zones at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The core booster was not recovered to maximize fuel availability.

It still and always will just absolutely blow me away that I can watch a rocket go up to hundreds of miles in altitude then separate, immediately turn around do a second burn to stop lateral momentum and turn around to go back to the launch sight, then do another burn to slow down rentry and a landing burn thereafter all whilst not hitting one another, computer guided and land perfectly within just a few feet every single time without fail!!! It’s just mind blowing!!! I feel like a little kid watching every-time
Puts a smile on my face every time I see it, truly amazing what SpaceX have done in an incredibly short amount of time. Long may they continue to push the boundaries of what we thought was possible!
They don’t go anywhere near hundreds of miles into space.
It's damn impressive, they do take advantage of the fact the earth is rotating that direction. Their polar launches from Vandenberg are even trickier.
@@xploration1437 68 miles high. Still impressive.
They have 151 successful landings out of 162 attempts. A very good record, but not exatly landing _"perfectly within just a few feet every single time without fail!!!"_
It's crazy how people feel as if this is normal. It still amazes me time and time again when the falcon touches down. Amazing stuff, SpaceX!!
Well most folks these days weren't around for the crude rockets of the past 50+yrs. The "old school" tech now has shrunk and weighs less than 1/3rd of old equipment.
And yet everyone here "on CZcams" is looking at digitally transmitted images/information on computers at home or in their hands...and thinking of this as something normal as well! Lol! I'm not disagreeing with you at all, just highlighting how much of what we take for granted every day would have been outlandishly amazing for anyone looking at it from a viewpoint of several decades in the past.
As you said - Amazing stuff!!! 👍
I still cringe at the screaming crowd in this video, yes it's great engineering but just stop with the screaming, maybe it's just an American thing.

Congratulations SpaceX! The coordination required to precisely and accurately guide 3 rockets simultaneously is astounding. A few years ago the rest of the industry was convinced that reusable rockets were impractical, and that vertical booster landings were impossible. You have made both feats routine events. Simply amazing.
Actually, vertical landings were successfully demonstrated decades ago, but other than that I agree!
I agree this is awesome, but given that each "rocket" has its own guidance system, it is not much harder to control three than it is to control one. If the guidance works for one booster landing, it most likely also works for the other :)
And its incorrect to say that people did not belive booster landings were possible. The reason it was not pursued by anyone else was a belief that it was not financially feasible. The great sucess of SpaceX is not to land the damn thing, no matter how spectacular it looks. The true success is to make F9 powerful enough that it can "waste" fuel on landings, and - not least - that spaceX has been able to fly the landed boosters again without a refurbishment that is nearly as expecsive as a new one.
If NASA/Boeing had done this, they would probably have build something that could land, but it would then have been more expensive to refurbish a booster that has landed, than it would have been to just fly an expendable rocket and expend the rocket each time ... cough ... spaceshuttle ... cough

Great job all. Go USA. Three cheers for STEM
This is NOT A SpaceX project...This is 100% NASA
The boosters landing never gets old, just amazing
The camera tracking almost as impressive!
Did NASA use the same technology for Moon’s landing in 1969 or was it fake?
If SpaceX is the first to create the rocket that can hover and land softly then NASA’s mission in 1969 was fake.
Reportedly, the U.S. Space Force was able to launch this mission at around 1/3 the cost of a fully expendable ULA Delta IV Heavy. Think about how many more opportunities for deep space projects or large-scale launches are going to be possible thanks to Falcon Heavy and other SpaceX projects still in development.
Was it not possible to recover the center core stage ?
I can believe it but do you have a source for this?
@@AnupomAG no, they needed the extra fuel to deliver the cargo to a higher orbit, so they could not save the center core :(
USSF are still going to use ULA Vulcan-Centaurs.
Launch cost is a pretty small part of deep space projects, but every bit helps. I'm waiting for the next stage in space exploration where the ISS (or something similar) become the base for an orbital assembly area where many launches can bring multiple parts, stages, fuel tanks, supplies etc. up and have it all assembled at their leisure while zipping around at 18k mph. The final product will already be in orbit and be moving at a decent clip before it even "launches" (whether it's a ship or a large scale deep space project).
It’s beautiful to hear the boosters come back with the sonic boom they make coming back.. it reminds me when the shuttles would come back
8:18 goosebumps. amazing spectacle, never gets old.
The way it burst through the clouds looked like a scene from a movie!
will never get boring.
The anticipation waiting for the dual landing shot is sooo inspirational.
That shoud be on the largest screen so you can fully appreciate the technology and effort to get humanity to this point.
What great achievement. I dont work for SpaceX or live in america but feel proud all the same. Aussie aussie aussie....
I still got shivers every time I see those boosters return to their landing pads. Inspiring to see what we can do when we put our minds towards achievements that better humankind.

Falcon heavy launches and landings will always be freakin impressive.
The boosters, literally falling with style, what a sight!
I'm still blown away seeing those massive rockets land simultaneously!
Incredible... And all of this in a little over 8 minutes:
- Launch (Lift off)
- Deliver cargo into space
- Turn around and come back
- Land back at base!
It just does not get old!
The engineering genius going into this technology boggles the mind.
in 100 years people will be watching this and commenting how odd it is to see hundreds of people cheering at a routine rocket launch. much like how people reacted to airplanes in the 1920s.
@@beamboy14526 We were like that before. Imagine how few people cared about the shuttle. I don't really recall many crowds gathering at most rocket launches since Apollo. These next gen rockets show improvement in technology and forward thinking while the previous generation rockets were more-or-less the same. I watch every spacex launch because watching them land themselves takes me back to childhood imagination.
It's amazing every time to watch these boosters return and nail the landings...
They look like scenes from a science fiction movie, it's spectacular!!!... a hug from Mexico.
Never got bored of watching these amazing landings! Kudos to Spacex team for consistently exceeding expectations!
Watched in person today and it was amazing! The double sonic booms were the best part. The video here doesn't do it justice. They are as loud as a big mortar going off at a fireworks show.
Great job SpaceX. Awesome to see this happening
Congrats on a Great launch and recovery of the two boosters!!! The sonic booms always shocks me!!
This will never get old! I can't imagine what the starship booster rocket will look like when it's dropping through the clouds and Mechazilla catches it. Absolutely crazy. Great job SpaceX 👏
I got teared up with awe watching those side boosters landing. Humanity is moving forward.

Those booster rockets landing was like a sci-fi movie, but it's really happening in our time! "They said it could not be done"! Way to go Elon M.!

Never gets old watching this. Well Done Space X
These kind of side by side landings never get old.
Beautiful Launch!! Very Close call on Port Booster engine during seperation, Whew!!! Left booster didn't throttle down completely during seperation and the residual burn pushed the booster up and flipped directly beside the ascending rocket. Phenomenal double booster landing. Brought tears to my eyes reminding me of the Apollo programs.
Seriously amazing work Space X.
The tremendous video quality now just makes this so much more amazing. Watching the side boosters all the way through the return journey to land is simply mind blowing to me. It’s on my bucket list to get across Florida to the cape and watch a double landing.
That was absolutely amazing!!! Hats off to the SpaceX team for pulling off yet another amazing feat!!!
I was at an observation area about 15 miles south of the launch pad. Beautiful sight watching and then hearing the roar of these engines. You knew the sonic booms were coming as a result of the booster reentries but it's always a jolt since you don't know exactly when. I was a young boy when the Mercury program start and fascinated with spaceflight. The fascination hasn't worn off.
Where/how do I find out where to go to watch in person?
this will never get old
I've watched this at least 20 times in the past 2 days never ceases to amaze me how they pull it off amazing work SpaceX
It doesn't get any more awesome than the twin boosters landing so perfectly at the same time
Looks like a scene from a video game or movie. Absolutely incredible!
Excellent camera work!!

Sucks for those people who didn’t watch the first time Falcon Heavy launched and landed its boosters. I watched it live and I cant explain the feeling, it was so exhilarating and hopeful. Deep down in my soul I felt some sort of calling. We are going places

It's still awe inspiring that this is just the normal now. A few years ago we watched them try and try. To come so far in so little time is an amazing feat. Great Job SpaceX and here's to many more landings
Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming.
Those movies from the fifties showing winged rockets landing on their tails were pretty close to this reality.
And so was the starship Enterprise on Star Trek running on 'lithium ion' crystals and crew talking on communicators. We're driving Lithium powered cars and talking on our communicators today. I'm eagerly waiting for the 'transporter'.

Never gets old
This Never, Ever, gets old.
Those booster landings just never get old.
Fun fact: In order to maximize fuel availability and meet the mission's orbital requirements, SpaceX Falcon Heavy is skipping the center booster landing attempt. Therefore, this Falcon Heavy core (center) booster will crash into the ocean rather than gently land on one of SpaceX's drone ships cruising in the Atlantic.
