I went to Venezia January 4 and I didn’t like it. I had been in different parts of Italy and I loved them all except for venezia, first of all it was really cold and it rained the 2 days, the gps lose signal very often and I ended up in a canal or a bridge that leads to someone’s home 😂, there is not a soul at San Marco square after 9 pm, the bells are going all day and night and my hotel was right next to the cathedral. Now the cathedral looks way better in pictures, it was beautiful but it was really dark inside and you can only appreciate the golden color when you are at the second floor. The food is overpriced 18 euros for 2 bruschetta is crazy and I don’t go around in vacation to be counting dimes but come on 18 euros is a plate of pasta anywhere in Italy. All those canals that they insist on making it look “romantic “ is an underwater cemetery and I don’t care how many years ago it happened ok they use to throw people in the canals to drown them to avoid public executions ☹️ during the plague guess where all the dead bodies were dumped? You right in the canal, so no thank you that is not romantic at all.
Lets not talk about the rude person that works in the vaporetto omg that lady should be fired immediately, it was raining it was cold and the platform have a partial roof, some older people went inside the boat because they were getting wet and this lady kept going on and on and on about they should have waited for the people to come out before they go in but the didn’t go inside the part were people seat so they weren’t really interrupting anything, after that we put our bags and put a seat belt to avoid them to falling (we saw other passengers doing it) we were not familiar with the vaporetto I don’t live in Italy so 2 stops after someone with a baby on a stroller boarded the boat and again the same lady came and when she saw we put our luggage in that spot she started yelling at us we say sorry without even knowing what we did wrong and she started to literally throw our luggage in the floor even though we told her we were going to move it the luggage was in the floor before I could even get up from my seat she insisted that place was for handicap and kept pointing at the sign the only thing left of that sign was melted glue it was no sign at all, overall it was very disrespectful and completely out of order to do all that! That’s another reason why I will never go back!
