In this series I am using the Moog Subharmonicon as the central compositional element. The idea is to take minimalist approach as a starting point, and let the the music grow out of the Moog semimodular instrument organically.
The Subharmonicon, almost more so than other synths, has a very unique temperament and can be rather capricious. You have to find a way to negotiate with it, as its own musical paradigm is so strongly embedded into its music generating structure, but that is part of the fun.
Of course there is the risk of getting carried away and letting the patch grow to epic proportions, but that is part of the fun.
I am feeding the synth into my larger Eurorack system for effects processing.
Maybe I will do a synth video about the difference between effect and affect.

Sorry, all this info is not to show off, but to feed our beautiful, capitalist algorithm that thrives on product placement and unboxing pathologies. In our defence, though, all of the products here are beautiful artistic accomplishments in and of themselves, so let us take comfort in that as well.

I have a DFAM getting the SUB next
This is awesome thank you
I think you are going to greatly enjoy it!!
Was intimidated by the sub when I got 1st and now it’s my go to when I need inspiration.
It definitely scratches a specific sound-making itch. I find that it very often offers a great base layer to build a track on.
Maybe should have said "bass-layer" but you get my point
This is lovely. Is it really as hard to use as everyone says?
Thanks! I guess it depends on how you are looking at it. In many ways, it is quite easy to play. I think the biggest thing to keep in mind is that you often have to build around it. For me, it is an instrument that sometimes I really feel like playing and working into a patch, and then I don't use it for weeks at a time. Probably wouldn't go for it as standalone or very fist synth, but I think it is definitely a keeper!
