Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of - time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed. The film is based on the memoir "Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen," by Jane Hawking, and is directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh (“Man on Wire”)

The movie was so wonderful and so sad watching how Stephen deteriorated through the years. I astounds me that he was only given two-three years to live and yet he's in his 70s today and still working! The love story is what really gets to me 'cause that's the stuff I'm drawn to (also the stuff I write about) and the fact that Jane was able to hold on for as long as she did and even when she left him she never stopped caring for him and staying in his life. The ending scene made me cry the first few times I watched it and yet it's my favorite scene in the whole movie! Fantastic performances all around and Eddie certainly deserved his oscar win.
