I never thought I'd say this but...
I actually really enjoyed the story. Takes me back to really wanting to beat Razor in Most Wanted as a kid. Where as beating Rick Scott and Harrison Carter in Grid 2019 didn't feel any special.

For people that didn't know, at the end when James Randall said he was the new owner of Ravenwest and how the McKanes still hated him. This is a throw back to the TOCA Racing games Codemaster did in the late 90s to early 2000s. He is a young English rookie who, at the start of the game, causes the death of Kyle McKane at the Ronkonkoma Speedway in Michigan by fishtailing him and sending him into a series of uncontrollable barrel rolls. Kyle's car then bursts into flames as his two young sons, Ryan (Ex Owner of Ravenwest) and Donnie, watch in horror. Ryan was the main character to TOCA.
I knew I recognised the name.
Yeah and Nathan Mckane was the name of his older brother. I'm assuming that the Mckanes named Ryan's nephew Nathan to carry on the family legacy and this Nathan is the one we see in all the GRID games.
@@CheapskateMotorsports Kinda tragic that this Nathan failed to be a clean racer and drove more like James, even nearly killing Yume.
Idk why but I just laugh when he’s shocked by getting knocked off like the nemesis system wasn’t made for instances like that. Also I swore in past grid games ravenwest drivers had more horsepower despite being in the same car, glad to see it was explained in this game
This game has the most satisfying ending to a racing game in a LONG while. We need more racing games to be like this.

Game's story: Nathan McKane is a top-tier but dangerously aggressive driver.
Reality: Theo smashes into and makes a nemesis out of every driver on the grid.
The lore in the Grid/Toca series is the best I've seen in a track racer.
This story seems so well done. In a car game... in an EA game. That's kinda crazy

NOW we need a Legends 2 where 22 went to the new team, picked up a new rookie who was hungry for wins and aggressive and having to tame his ass down consistently and eventually putting him in his place.
Now that would be epic.

It's an actual good racing game, which is something EA hasn't given us in ten years.
EA is just the publisher Codemasters made this game and are much better at racing games than EA

Grid legends is the only race game infront of nfs heat that has a such amazing story line while you can enjoy enough with racing and realistic fair drivers

The stadium trucks are awesome. Pretty much act like they do in real life and you just have to drive them differently. The races are carnage. So good
I had a feeling I was the only one 😂I really like them. if anything I wish the A.I were more difficult even on Legend different when doing the stadium truck events!

You ain't being kicked out more like your starting a B team for Seneca with Valentin and Ajeet that's what the career mode is you building onto the legacy of what you did

I really enjoy playing grid legends! Its challenging but also still so much fun! I'm still going to continue on with the career and also do the updates when they come out. Will play it till GT7 comes out then eventually go back to it for sure. Definitely a bug yes from me.

Also Theo, there's some race drivers that their steering wheel is special and handed as your gamepad, yes they accelerate and brake with the same wheel, hence the line of _Can we take the pedals out?_

I think the statement about removing the pedals was a reference to using hand controls.
I know this video is old, but Yume is using hand controls, a lot of people with missing legs or disabilities use hand controls. Just like using a controller to play a game you can use your hands to drive, even with a clutch. :)

If you enjoyed the entire story mode and made it to the end, there's a lot more fun and tons of race combinations to be had with the Race Creator mode, both offline and online, that really is one of the best parts of this whole game. Can't wait to grab it down the road.
No custom championships though.. Grid 2019 had this

The story is really good but there are a few things I'd have changed. I would have had Laura crashing Nathan's car, like he did with Yumi, THEN exposing the cheats. She'd be fired but Seneca would take her in as an advisor and probably replacement driver until Yumi's return. I'd also put the two McKanes together for a lot longer, right about the same time they fired Laura.
Whenever there was a supercharged car behind you it sounded like ree kid
trying to do that last mission is first person was terrible, you already don't have that much vision out of the cockpit but when its raining its actually all just a blur with like a second of clearness
Does anyone noticed that the owner of the Ravenwest is a Ryan Mckane who we used to play in first Toca Race Driver?
I think some of the characters in this "Driven To Glory" Story Mode are based on those from F1 2021's "Braking Point" Story Mode:
Driver No. 22 - Aiden Jackson, only they're mute and genderless
Yume Tanaka - Casper Akkerman, only a lot younger and fiercer
Marcus Ado - Brian Doyle
Ravenwest Racing Team - Devon Butler, if he had his own racing team
Valentin Manzi - every other F1 driver in the current grid

I am one who prefers racing games without a proper story (Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo, Project Gotham Racing, etc.), but this looks pretty good. It reminds me of both R. Racing Evolution and the TOCA Race Driver series (which is the predecessor to GRID).

So for anyone who played the ToCa race driver 1 game, this is just pure nostalgia in a story.... Holy shit. "James Randall" was the main antagonist who killed Ryan McKane's dad in a crash. So in that game when you played Ryan McKane as a protagonist, you end up discovering this really fast rookie was "James Randall" all along... It was implied that the McKane's killed Randall by putting him in the boot of a car ready to be scrapped. The stories back then where wild I know.
But I guess he survived it and now he owns ravenwest... And is Nathan McKane's boss. What an interesting set up for another game. Should it have a story.

The story is quite good, really wish that the player is an actual character in the story mode like in the other codies game f1 2021 and not just muted isn't it weird like seing the cutscenes about the other driver/people and then like not a single word from the player 😅, also pants why you play without the realistic/terminal damage settings

@@lukereyes6266 I did the 10-hour demo and I enjoyed the gameplay. The cutscenes are well done, but I think it's impossible to avoid a goofy story in an over dramatized FMV racing game.
@@DrivingGod21 true, I did the same, 10 hour trial, then I bought it, I like that they did with the story, and imo they did a great job with it. And from what I've seen someone describe it as, is a game that takes inspiration from Formula 1: Drive to Survive

I’m I the only one who can’t stand the physics in the last few codemasters games? I tried getting into grid but it felt just like the f1 and dirt games made recently. Simcade and sim games are just so far passed these games.

I really hated that during the ENTIRE game they only acknowledge Yume Tanaka. Like she is a good racer for sure but I’m the one coming in first every time not Yume who was almost always anywhere between 4th and last place. Nowhere to be found
