Lol you got some clues here, trailer, holds....name of the title😂. Happy for y’all
😂😂😂 at time of filming didn't know id call it that
Awesome climbing wall! Well done 👍
Thanks 😊
Cut all my lumber yesterday and am assembling tomorrow. Your frame is a better design than what I came up with and I wish you would’ve posted this two days ago😭😭 looks sick
Sorry! 😬
I'm so envious lol. If we had good enough weather in UK for me to have one in my garden I'd 100% do it.
So worth it!
David thinking the same thing! Maybe a waterproof plastic sheet? Use Wood rot varnish? There must be a way...
@@Tomwoodfitness That's a good idea.. I could even fit doors to the front like a shed and open it up to climb
@@Tomwoodfitness yes weather seal paint is an option..I'm not sure how effective that stuff is but I'm meant to paint the back of mine with it
Do you follow Imogen Horrocks? UK pro who built a woody in her backyard. Maybe ask her what she's doing for the wether.
My dad is building me a wall at the moment so I will show him this! I’ll put a video up too 😃
Awesome! Look forward to seeing it 💪
Awesome. If I had the space I would build one.
Yay I'm just happy I still get to watch you two climb. So cool I want to build one so bad in my in laws backyard
The climbing will continue 🙌 World's best in-laws right??
@@AnnaDavey they really are and her dad is a carpenter so I'll probably be like Tom in this situation
@@americanman6347 😂😂
For a couple hundred dollars you can build a really respectable wall, I've made a bunch of holds for mine with wooden railings , banister toppers and trim. Cheap and not much different from resin holds, the fine finish on them makes them super skin friendly. Just make sure you back the head of the bolt with a good washer.
Wow, good stuff! The urge to climb is definitely getting stronger and stronger, my beastmaker is tiding me over for now... ^^
I am having some wicked hangboard sessions at home too 🙌💪
I live in a flat and the hangboard is the only thing I can do since a month (I'm italian). So boring...but I'll come out of the quarantine with the strongest fingers I ever had. When they free me I will quarantine myself under a crag for a straight week lol
@@gobbidimerda2496 damn straight!! Imagine the crimp boulders you'll be able to smash!!
@@AnnaDavey I only lead climb outside so I will smash crimp routes! Anyway, your wall is very nice, good job, I'm pretty jealous for not having a garden...
That's an amazing wall!
Also, I love the doggos!
Thanks 🙌
Awesome job Anna, puts my indoors woodie to shame, I started building mine in January now just filling out with hand made hardwood holds.
Nice! I have wooden holds coming 🙌
Looks good! Not going to lie, I thought something else when I read 'We built a woody' :P
😂😂😂🤦🏻♀️
You’re missing the most important part of that wall, the slab on the other side!!
😂
Great home set up!!!
Thank you!
Looks great! I built my self something similar. You got a great start of holds. I make mine out of wood so your lucky in that aspect! Also cute dogs. Lol 😂
I've got some Wooden ones coming actually! I leased this holds from my local climbing gym 🙌
Anna Davey oh sweeet that’s awesome! Well can’t wait to see more content from you and Tom!
well this beats my pull up bar and door way climbing at the moment!! haha - nice wall
Haha yes thanks 🙌
Pretty cool! Inspiring!
Thanks 🤩
congratz. looks awesome, need to build me one of those.
Thanks 😊
Great job!
Thanks!
Nice! I wish I had that wall.
It's awesome hey?
@@AnnaDavey It seems even hang boards sell out here in the US. I bought one for my GF and I'll put it up tomorrow. It's about 0.00001% as cool as your setup.
What's better for photobombing than a dog? Two dogs! :-)
Haha right? 😂🤩
I like what you have created there. Oh yea and the doggos and the music @1:30
If I only had the space, weather and skills to copy this😵.
Haha I paid someone to do it! You can too!!
your dogs are so cute LOL
Toms mum's dogs. Thanks 😊
This is awesome!
Thanks 😁
Every time I hit the floor to do core my dogs bum rush me, Cracks me up every time.
Yea same haha
@@AnnaDavey Wasn't tom doing a 30 day core challenge a bit ago? Did I miss the results video? If so how did he do, I assume he crushed it.

😂😂
Damn Multi talented people! 😂
Nice!
Thanks
Love all home walls...keep meaning to post a video of mine...
Will it be okay if it rains?
And what was the cost of the project? At least materials, timber, hold , skrews etc. I would love one some day
Cheers!
If you actually watch the video , I explain there's a tarp. In AUD wood was $650, Tnuts $75, mat $50, holds and screws I'm renting from the local gym (which is closed) then paid labour for the builder
Nice. From some of the comments, it looks like you might want to add some details about the cost and materials to your description. hehe. Love your dogs btw.
I like answering comments as it helps engagement levels. Thanks Haha ❤️
@@AnnaDavey Definitely. I wish I got more on my channel. Of course, I'm kind of dead in the water now with the gym closures. Unless I can come up with another way of providing the information, and make it interesting.
@@climbinggymnetwork1019CZcams is sooooo hard!!!! We've had to work so hard for subs! My IG following hasn't transferred over very well unfortunately. It's a different ball game here.. We've had to get creative in this closure time 🤗
Cool upload, I'm going to incorporate some of this design into my build. I may wall off part of the interior corners as well. Subbed
Thanks ❤️
Neat
Did you do anything to anchor it into the ground? Are you worried about the wind setting sail to it at all?
No it's very very heavy and we don't really get heavy winds here anyway
How big is the wall? Looks perfect
3.6m by 2.4m :)
Hey There. What do you do with the wall during rain?
It went under a big tarpaulin
Looks awesome! Encouraged me to attempt to built one as well.
Can you upload a material list?
I didn't buy the materials so I don't know specifics. Ply Wood, Timber, screw Tnut, holds and bolts.
There's a good list here: www.climbinganchors.com.au/guides/building-a-woody/
@@AnnaDavey May I know what angle did you build yours at? Looks like 30 degrees at least.
@@Moshekedem it's 45°
Two words: Smoking hottie. Also, keep up the plastic pulling! Very nice Woody.
😂😂 thanks ❤️
You have inspired me! Built my own.
What did you do for your crash pad to make it weatherproof? You just bought a regular queen mattress?
The board was under a Tarp all the time 🤗 enjoy ❤️
looks awesome! is there any logic for placing all the holds on a spray wall?
Yes so you have endless possibilities instead of being restricted to a route. Also we didn't have full sets of holds. When you place the holds, you don't just drill at random, you think about mixing up the orientation between side pulls gastons, crimp angles, underlings, hugs etc. Can't have too much of anything
Pause at 0:05...fake tan hands 🤚🏾 😄
Omg you point out that but not Tom's ridiculous tan in this video 😂 Very observant haha. Guilty!
Anna Davey wish I was that brown 😄
@@tomsta29 Letan express...just saying 🤣
Are you able to drill holes in multiple pieces of plywood at once to save time? Thx🤙
No one at a time
Sorry I was wrong you definitely can!
Anna Davey oh ok dope thx! :$
This is awesome project! Could you please tell me what are the dimensions (width, thickness) of the planks used and thickness of thy plywood?
You're a year later to the party 😂 We basically did this
www.climbinganchors.com.au/guides/building-a-woody/
Looks sick! Do you happen to know the dimensions?
3.6m by 2.4 m
hey guys where fall your money whithout working ?
We both work full time
That's pretty tall! Like 18 feet maybe?
Yea the wall climbing distance is just over 5M but the frame itself is 3.6M to the floor.
Hello! I'm new to climbing but I can build a climbing wall, the problem now is route setting as someone that is new to climbing how do I know whats good route or not, you know? Video suggestions would help the most, no? Cheers!
Haha the best way is to learn yourself! Set and climb and see ehet you feel!
@@AnnaDavey haha cheers, its raining now but when its not I'm making a wall for sure
Please can you tell me what the cross section dimensions on the timbers are. Are these all 5" x 2" ? My basket is ready to order, but I just can't decide which size timbers to use. Thanks
I'm sorry I don't know. I didn't pick up the wood, the carpenter did
This might help you
www.climbinganchors.com.au/guides/building-a-woody/
If you’d mounted the ply panels sideways instead of vertically you wouldn’t have that problem with flex in the middle I don’t think
I'll tell that to my builder 😂🤷♀️
That would actually make it flex more vertically mounted ply has a smaller horizontal area that it can flex in . I'd need to see the back but horizontal bracing would likely solve any flex issues the best. If it's flexing it's because it's in a weaker part i.e. spots where 2 pieces of ply come together with nothing backing them etc. Easy fix
@@driklol You can see the back at 3:25, its vertical bracing behind so horizontal mounted ply would be better
That looks good... how big is it and how many hold did it take to cover?
It's 2.4m by 3.6m and we got 100 holds
Would you mind giving us some details/measurements about your frame and the sizes of the plywood? I'd love to build one by myself and you would really help me with giving me some informations!

Pretty much this link below
thanks a lot
🐱👤 Is this construction storm resitant? It has a huge surface area!
.
it survived many storms. 🤗
@@AnnaDavey Okay, because it's a bit protected and it's heavy.
What kind of plywood and wood is this? I plan to order wood today, but i'm clueless about what kind of materials to get
I'll find out....
This will help you:
www.climbinganchors.com.au/guides/building-a-woody/
Would love the dimensions of your board!!!
The frame size is 3.6m by 2.4m
Did you follow a DIY plan for that?
A professional carpenter built it
@@AnnaDavey ah, that makes sense.
Nice! I need one of those, but I live in an apartment... On an unrelated note, is that a riding jacket? Now I want to see your bike...
Haha nope, just fashion 😝I did use to ride though!
You can probably find a solution for your apartment too. I got two slabs with a connecting roof so it doesnt take up any space.
Do you know how tall is your wall or the angle of it. Thank you
The frame is 3.6m high. The angle is 45° which makes for over 5m climbing length
Do u have measurements? Thx
Frame is: 3.6m by 2.4m
Anna Davey dope thx
Man I'm jealous of this! I started climbing 3 months ago. I was going 4 days a week and finally got my first 5.10...now all that progress is lost haha.
Hmmm not so bad for you being do early in the journey. You'll be fine!!! People that have climbed 6 days a week for years have it worse I think because it's become their lives. 😩

What are all the lengths and quantities of the wood? And how much were all the holds?
also whats the perimeter of the base foundation. I think you've said the frame is 3.6 meters, are they both the same length?
I don't know sorry. I didn't buy the materials, I paid someone to do everything haha. Yea the frame size is 3.6m by 2.4m. If you google how to make a home woody you'll get heaps of in depth demos
I leased the holds from my gym ..
What is the overhang od u don’t Mind asking?
45 degrees
@Stanisław Borkowski 46 degrees
Where did you get all the specs to build everything. Thank you
Carpenter did that. Search online there's heaps of videos and articles
Hello love the wall where did you get the holds from?
I've actually leases these from my climbing gym
@@AnnaDavey Ok thanks we are building a wall at home too
@@isaaczach4497 good luck! For the holds it depends on your budget but I'm waiting for a shipment to come from Euroholds.
How much roughly was it for all the wood nut bolts ect, can you make a hardware list
The carpenter bought all the hardware for me and I just paid. Wood was $650. 250 Tnuts were $75. Bolts came with the holds cause I'm leasing them from my gym. Pretty sure it was just 4 sheets of plywood and 8 lengths of timber 🤷♀️
any concerns about high wind days?
I think it cloud fly!
nah it went through a storm with 100km winds just fine
haha nope it's so sturdy :)
Wish I could make something like this. Holds are pricey aren't they? :/
Yea I leased them from my closed climbing gym
You can make wooden holds yourself very easily, there’s plenty of tutorials on CZcams :)

Strange notion of social isolation in Australia? Car trip to obtain holds ... bringing in a professional to build your wall ...
Yep at this time (3 weeks ago) you could also host a outdoor fitness group of 10 people, Have parties of up to 10 gatherings, get a massage and a the shops were open etc. Stricter rules came in a week after. Supermarkets are still packed with people though! We still only have a very small amount of cases here.
You got there just in time! Over here in the UK the climbing walls shut down along with all non-essential shops and services three weeks ago ... quickly followed by local authority closure of outdoor gyms and children’s playgrounds, both of which I’d been hoping to use in quiet times to get some kind of a stretch.
@@stevestevenson7569 Australia was way behind. We went into isolation like 3 weeks behind everyone else and then it was another 2 weeks until they went into stage 2, which means we can leave the house for groceries, medical and exercises only now and no more than 2 people at a time. So we actually got this done in the last week that it was possible yep. I guess we're behind as our infection rate is wayyyy lower. Like only 300 cases at the peak in Perth. And 75% of those recovered. Curve is going way down here too. We're not as condensed as the UK. Huge suburbs...not many people
Omg it’s day seven and you are being a drama queen.
You're only over a year late mate ....
