  • How do you make your puppy confident, calm and content?
The 3 Cs of Labradoodle puppy socialization need you to be aware of your puppy's needs and able to speak "doglish".
The old school puppy training approach was to introduce your puppy to 100 new things in the first 100 days.
We know now there is a better way! It's not the number of experiences your puppy has but that their experiences are positive ones.
How do you know if they are positive? That's where your Doglish skills come into play. Get to know your puppy, watch them closely, learn how they "speak" to you with their body. Discover ways they show you they don't like something or are afraid. Be sure to always reassure your puppy after something happens that makes them unhappy or upset.
You need your puppy to learn you will always be there to protect them and provide security if a situation warrants it.

Thanks for the video Claire!!❤️ When do you suggest we start training and socializing our pup after they come home? Should we start in the first few days or spend the first few days just getting to know and trust one another?

The firest3 to 5 days should just be you and your puppy. Then it's out and about and socialising according to your puppy's comfort level.

Meanwhile people like me rescue the ones that burn through their first home. There aren’t enough homes! Quit breeding for profit or your selfish emotional ride. Thanks

Thanks for your remarks and the opportunity to give you some pertinent information.
First, all responsible breeders have a clause in their purchase contract that their puppies can be returned to them at any point in their lives, no matter what the circumstances. This important clause means that no responsibly bred dogs ever end up in shelters or require "rescue."
Second, responsible breeders have a thorough vetting process for their families to avoid placing their puppies in unsuitable homes.
Third, as you can tell from our channel, social platforms and website, we educate our families before their puppy is born and after. This also ensures the best opportunity for a permanent and best placement of each puppy.
Fourth, our puppies are matched with families to ensure they are with a family they will succeed with.
Fifth, if you think responsible breeders are in it for the emotional ride, then all of us would be certifiable. Responsible breeding is not a "job," and emotions are often overwhelmingly difficult to cope with. Compassion burnout is a real thing for responsible breeders.
Finally, if you think breeding means raking in the bucks, you have clearly never taken the time to understand what professional breeding is.
Here is a brief breakdown for you:
Testing of each breeding dogs amounts to around $5,000 USD
Feeding JUST the Mom for each litter amounts to around $1200
Feeding each litter amounts to another $2500
Vet bills for a litter plus Mom when NOTHING goes wrong average around $1200
Grooming cots, paid kennel help, pee pads, heat, lights, equipment, and so on also go into being a responsible breeder.
If you wish to comment, please first educate yourself and understand to whom you are directing your comments.
If you genuinely wish to not have dogs dumped by people and surrendered, you would be best served by spending your energy educating people to not buy from a cheap backyard breeder and from a responsible one instead.
