- In this candid one-to-one interview, Olly opens up about how he initially learnt about Islam when he was sitting in a barber chair. From then on he went on a holiday with several Muslim friends and secretly watched them praying in the congregation. After accepting Islam he'd navigate dangerous waters with family members who have an opposing viewpoint on his newly adopted religion. However, through the thick and thin of it, Olly describes his love for Islam as it allows him to gain a heartfelt connection with Allah (swt).

They are like new born children. They start a fresh with a clean slate.
The feeling of reverting is something us born Muslims will never get.

Salam. I'm a born Muslim. And I felt EXACTLY as how u said about around 2 years ago. I was jealous of the reverts for their beautiful conviction.
And then life happened and Allah made me really truly turned to Him and the Quran. I rediscovered my deen by truly learning the word of God. If the Quran can truly change non believers, can change the world even, why can't it change my heart? So I started to dive into the Quran and NOT just recitation, but reading the translations, pondering, listening and reading to reflections and lectures. Subhanallah my mind is blown away.
I fell in love with Islam in a way me, a born Muslim, NEVER thought was possible (because I already knew abt Islam or at least I thought i knew.)
Boy was i wrong. The Quran is a beautiful beautiful book and it teaches me an unimaginable amt of value I never knew existed. It made me saw the world in a totally different way. Subhanallah. I'm in my 30s, and thought I pretty much knew how the world works and what Islam is. Well, I was wrong because when I started reading and truly immersing myself in Allah's words, they then brought me to my knees.
Just a few months back, someone pointed out to me that I'm just like a revert, excited about Islam. That made me so happy because it hit me then, Allah gave me the revert experience. Alhamdulillah ya Rab. Just what I had always always wanted.
Don't ever lose hope. Continue striving and learning. Allah wants us to see the truth, and not what we 'think' is the truth. And the truth is in the Quran and according to authentic hadiths.
May Allah open our hearts to always want get ever closer to Him and may Allah opens the Quran to all of us and give us understanding, and truly fill our hearts with our love for Him. We ask Allah for the beautiful conviction that the reverts have and more.

Keep striving sister. Taqwa is not unattainable (like what I used to believe 2 yrs ago). Allah wants us to have it and sustain it too. May Allah give ease and barakah in your beautiful journey to Him. Talk to Him everyday, even when it feels awkward. Let's keep learning. Keep trying. Allah loves every one of our small & consistent effort. Gosh I could go on and on. Just remember the hadith qudsi where Allah says that if the slave walks to Him, Allah will run to him. That hadith is my major source of motivation.

People reject islam because of two reasons knowing in their heart it is the truth as it makes undeniable sense.
One reason is internal conflict such as pride, arrogance, changing their way of life, family heritage, strong blind belief in other faiths. During the time of the Prophet, there were reports of people who admitted and believed the prophet was a true prophet who was receiving revelation but told the prophet they did not want to become muslim because they did not want to leave the religion of their forefathers.
Second reason is external consequences such as the backlash, peoples reaction and treatment.
That is why Islam is only for the brave and truthful who value the truth and what is right above everything else.
