    You don't have to bend anything. The tray will fit just push it down, don't worry about having to force it a little the first time. Once you cook with it the first time, it will go in and out of the basket perfectly. It just needs to be "broken in" I guess. I love this thing I don't have to use my oven or fry on the stove!!!!! I use it literally almost everyday. So pumped.

    Yes don't think all air fryer quart sizes are equal. The shape of the basket dictates how much you can actually cook as demonstrated. You ultimately want to be able to spread out your food for even cooking and maximum crisping and not pile it on.
    Also a wider shallower basket is more easier to shake food around or scoop out with a utensil.
    A tall 6qt narrow basket vs a wide 6qt basket can mean the difference of cooking 2 hamburger patties vs 4 at the same time for example.
    Some air fryers look similar to each other down to the shape of the basket and you may not realize one has a smaller base. So be aware.

    I just got the 2022 Gourmia air fryer from Costco and it's more squarish-shaped almost exactly like your older one, but cheaper with more plastic and stamped metal bits like your newer one. The controls and display is the same too.

    So the crisping tray is plastic? You said you had to bend the plastic tabs, I believe. I don't know how I feel about cooking on plastic. The other rack is metal? The basket is metal (on the inside)?

    • @SterlingW8
      @SterlingW8  Před 3 lety +1

      The tray, crisping rack and airfryer base is metal. I had to bend the metal feet of the crisper tray so the silicone feet can easily slide in and out if the base.

    Hey so I bought this from Costco and tried it for first time tonight. Thanks for doing this review. I cut up like 5 potato’s tossed them slightly in oil and air fried them. They piled up on each other so mid way I turned them. Some didn’t cook in center. Others got little burnt but overall the fries tasted hard and rubber like on the outside. Did I do something wrong?

    • @SterlingW8
      @SterlingW8  Před 3 lety

      Yes. You need to thin chop them, and make sure they are paper towel dried first and not wet. . I usually layer at most 1 inch with gaps so air will circulate. Even with frozen tater tots i only have one layer ... which is plenty half of a 2 lib bag 🤣

    • @popaki9484
      @popaki9484 Před 3 lety

      @@SterlingW8 thanks for my our reply. If I dry them with a paper towel then I’ll be taking off the oil I put on them. Or do I need to just buy the frozen potatoes? I like making them from fresh potatoes usually. I’ll give it a try. Drying them with no oil and see what halpens

    • @SterlingW8
      @SterlingW8  Před 3 lety +1

      I am going to be honest. I easily eat a bag of frozen tots and fries with my airfryer every week. Its the easiest and fastest way to make fries at home. Chopping up fresh taters, sweet potatoes, or yams, and drying them took forever. Checkbout my other airfryer vids, while it was fun with the recipes, the airfryer is most useful for reheating pastries, fries, pizza ,burritos, and other crispy leftovers. Its excellent for frozen foods. Great for cooking raw marinated ribs, chicken, pork and meats!

    • @SterlingW8
      @SterlingW8  Před 3 lety +1

      Wait you have to dry the sliced potatoes first. You can spray canola oils but sparingly, afterwards before airfrying.
