Genuinely, between 2007-ish and 2012, was one of the best in the world. Right up there.
definatelly i think 2009-10 was when he really reached he's peak, had he taken better care of himself and not got that injury in april vs Bayern and rushed back pumped full of pain killers he might have now been looked at the same way ronaldo and messi are

Me and my dad went to watch Rooneys first England game in 2003 against Australia...can't believe we lost. Many years later i watched him score #50 and here in 2021 Harry Kane is literally about 12 goals behind him. Time moves too quickly.

at his best wayne rooney really was in top 3-5 players in the world. he could literally play any position from midfield to striker and he did brilliantly mostly for manchester united and for england
Fantastic player, made his mark at the perfect time. New age football wouldn't have accepted a real bloke like Rooney. From 2012 its not been worth watching football anymore.
There's no one today who strikes the ball as well as Wazza did. It's crazy. Every time the ball left his boot it was like an explosion.

Was injured in 2006 and 2010 and should not of gone, 2004 he was sensational, 2012 played well in 2 games. 2014 and 2016 he was our best player.
Frank Jaeger He was unplayable in 2004 but embarrassing in tournament football after that. ‘06 he was 2 stone overweight and got sent off. He was the worst player in the tournament in 2010, by a distance. He got suspended for kicking someone and missed the first 2 games of 2012 and was horrendous in the other 2. There is no way on earth he should have even gone to 2014, let alone 2016, it was shambolic. He got at least 50 caps more than he should have. And I was his biggest fan

I loved watching Rooney whilst growing up but by the 2014/15 season, he was past it and shouldn’t have received more England call ups. I guess when you’re a poster boy like Harry Kane is now, you’ll be picked no matter what.

I remember i was just finnishing my exams at school in 2004 Euro and was at the Kids Youth Club after school watching the Euros and a man from switzerland was asked what he thought about Rooney on the big projector screen with our Panda Pops. His reply was "I like Rooney! He is like a Bull" i've remebered that for years, what a talent.

Rooney was very unlucky to always to get injured just before, and during, major international tournaments. Remember Euro 2004, World Cups 2006 and 2010. Also it was cruelly undeserved for him to miss Euro 2008 in his peak due to terrible goalkeeping errors during qualifying. We have been robbed of the opportunity to see a player who could have been the greatest English footballer ever.
Rooneys peak was 2004-2008. After that he lost a lot of his raw power. He may have scored a lot of goals 09/10 but was not the beast that he was before.
