    Just one thing to note. The Poco X3 pro has a LCD screen. It isn't an AMOLED (Thank God) So the dark mode will not save any power as ultimately, there will always be a backlight on a LCD screen. However, at least we don't have to deal with black crush, purple smearing and potential screen burn.

    • @drblaza6980
      @drblaza6980 Před 3 lety +1

      I thought Amoled screen was something better

    • @egosumnemo
      @egosumnemo Před 3 lety +14

      @@drblaza6980 This is going to be a long post but hopefully it provides some useful, albeit subjective, information.They are two different technologies with their own pros and cons.
      Amoled Displays have organic RGB pixels that produce their own light when current is applied to them. They have no backlight like a LCD screen and when displaying a black image, the pixels turn off. As such, Amoleds produce a punchier, higher contrast image, deep blacks and better viewing angles. On the other hand, the organic nature of Amoleds mean that they degrade with use with blue sub pixels having the shortest lifespan. What this means is that if you use the phone on high brightness with static images (like logos on news networks or static UI elements), the pixels that are being used more (i.e. the static image ) wear out faster than the rest. The result is a permanent "burning in" of the static image on the screen. Furthermore, the mere fact that the pixel has a cut off point for lower and lower electrical input before it switches off completely means that on a grayscale from white to black, at a certain shade of gray, the pixel does not get enough current and just switches off. So in some dark images, rather than a gentle gradient from white to black, you can get jagged artifacts and edges where they pixels just switch off and jump to black. Another hardware limitation of amoleds is the pixel light up and dimming time. If you are in a dark room and have white or grey text on a black screen, when you scroll you can see a purple smearing of the words due to the delay in illumination and switching off of the relevant pixels.
      LCD screens on the other hand have a backlight. So there are no true blacks and it is not as punchy or vibrant as an amoled. Further, poor quality LCD screens can have light bleed along the edges and sub par viewing angles However, a quality IPS display is by no means washed out and in fact can display more natural colours with more subtle variations.
      Samsung pushed Amoled technology aggressively to the point where it has become desired by the majority of users but to me, the drawbacks of potential burn in are too much. Even on the majority of forums talking about burn in, comments always say it is user error. You shouldn't use your phone on max brightness. You shouldn't watch youtube in portrait mode for a long time. You should avoid high contrast static images. Don't use certain navigation apps with static elements. I prefer to be able to use my phone however the hell I want and not have to worry about it. Besides,I tend to prefer the look of a LCD to an AMOLED. I mean, I still own my Oneplus 7 pro and I prefer the Poco X3 Pro. Honestly, I was looking for a powerful phone with a LCD screen, as prior to the Oneplus 7 Pro, I had a Razer Phone 2 which I loved. To me, the LCD display on the Poco X3 pro was a major factor in my decision to buy this phone. After fully debloating the phone and removing practically all of Xiaomi's apps and services, the software actually runs quite fast and fluidly as well.
