    Kensei, IBIS is better in GH7 cause it's easier to stablize smaller size sensor then larger one. That's all. 32bit float audio is great for concerts. It's like log/raw for image. You can adjust audio gain in post processing even when its clipped due to too much gain. Never any audio clipping due to bass or drums clipping. Thank you for comparison.

    Thank you for the comparison - no offense, but I think you are a little biased towards full frame - just think about it. When the FF is better, then it's 100 times better, but when M43 is better, it's only slightly better. Each system has it advantages.
    If you are a content creator the 4:3 aspect ration is actually great, cause you can crob widescreen AND vertical video out of it.
    The image stabilisation of the gh7 and also the g9II are so superior to full frame cameras, cause the smaller sensor is of advantage here.
    You can get quite decent bokeh with prime lenses on MFT cameras and they are quite small compared to full frame. When I use my Leica 25mm, 1.4f I get the same bokeh as 2.8f on full frame and the lens is nice and small. I have a small camera bag with 4 lenses in them, 3 of them small prime lenses with f stops 1.4 or 1,7
    Of course a full frame sensor can always give you more bokeh when you use prime lenses as well and better low light performance, but MFT is just fine in most situations, as long as you don't go to the extremes - like you said, when there is almost no light. I don't usually encounter situations where I want to film in almost no light ... I don't see the point?
    So I guess in summary, one tends to favour the gear or system you work with unless you really hate it ;-)

    The S5iiX has a slightly better image quality but with the ARRI log on the GH7, the image quality becomes better with slightly more dynamic range. The GH7 is better in so many other ways, where the S5iiX has advantage is purely in low light which with fast lens light the 10-25mm f1.7 & 25-50mm f1.7 on the GH7 one can get a good low light performance. The AF on GH7 with adapted lens like the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 work flawlessly on one of the reviews I saw on CZcams as Metabone just released a firm update for their adapter v4.1. With this the GH7 is king

    Great review! I picked up a GH6 on a big discount back in 2022 when the S5iix dropped. Couldn't be happier, I did buy a Sony A7Cii for FF stills however in my option doing video with FF has it's challenges regardless the brand your going to notice the RS.

    Interesting, not sure if I've ever heard someone say an aspect ratio is difficult to work with. I guess if you just prefer wide aspect ratios like 3:2 or 16:9... Personally, I think 4:3 is more pleasing for single-subject content i.e. talking head videos, vlogging, portraits, etc..
    But to each their own.
    Also, if you really wanna get some shallow depth of field, I'd suggest speedboosting fast EF lenses! For instance, a f1.4 lens becomes an f1.0 👍

    No matter how much GH7 videos I watch I haven't been sold it. I have the the S5ii and that is more then enough for my needs. Does everything I want. Full frame just feels better. I have the GH5 and to again has all the specs I need for using as a b cam. That's what the GH7 would be a B cam. So probably get the G9ii or get the S5iix when i want another camera.

      @orinorio1 , that really comes down to the resolution, frame rate, and codec you're shooting in. I wouldn't recommend shooting in, say, Apple ProRes422 HQ DCI4k with a G9ii, as it'll get quite warm. I'd recommend a GH6 over a G9ii for anything video.

      @@GregorysBrain I wouldn't get a GH6 or a GH7. Like I explained the specs on them would be wasted for what I would use them for. I don't shoot in ProRes a lot. Great review!
    They are great cameras.
    So when you say the S5IIX’s ‘versatility’ is the key differentiator, what do you mean exactly? Its relative key strengths are:
    - Size: smaller body
    - Bokeh
    - Low light - less noise
    - Dynamic range (one or two stops)
    GH7 strengths are:
    - Multi Ange screen
    - Codecs and 120fps
    - ARRI Log
    - No crops for 60p
    - Lighter and smaller lenses and a big used market so you can buy most lenses under about USD300 used - some much less.
    - IBIS quality
    Which is the S5IIX strengths are the most important for you and achieve the additional versatility?
    Both accept EF lenses with an adapter.
    If the GH7 body is too big the G9II is available for less money and it is lighter than the s5IIX. But it lacks ARRI Log, unlimited recording, some codecs and the multi angle screen.
    For me the G9II is most appealing because I’m not a professional and I have several excellent MFT primes and zooms.
    I have a G9 and would love to upgrade and ruminate a lot about the choice between the two cameras you reviewed and also the G9II.
    I have one L Mount lens (50mm S f1.4) and several EF lenses. I would probably only get one or two more L Mount native lenses (maybe the 18mm prime or a wide zoom and the 20-60mm). It is a difficult decision!
    I’m tending to favour the G9II as its smaller size with lenses (vs s5IIX) as the compact lenses deliver more practical versatility as I’m more likely to bring it with me. Full frame camera lenses can be large. And I still have a 5DIII for the ‘full frame look’ when needed.
    Welcome your elaboration of versatility’! Cheers.

    03:04 - The most important difference is that for 4K 60fps, the S5IIX can only do this with a heavy CROP in APS-C, i.e. 1.5x, which greatly reduces the possibility of recording at wide angles!

    • @JacopoDiGiuli
      @JacopoDiGiuli Před měsícem

      @@davidgautier5088 Actually it is not: the biggest limitation is that you have to use dedicated APS-C optics when you want to record in 4K 60, because if you use the normal FF optics (the ones you would logically expect to use with an FF camera), you have precisely a very large image crop, which cuts off the possibility of doing video in Ultra Wide or Wide mode, which does not happen with the Micro 4/3!

    • @LucasCreativeTech
      @LucasCreativeTech Před měsícem +2

      well if you use the lenses like 100-400 (200-800 on full frame) those lenses are much lighter and smaller. Also more in focus instead of very thin focus on FF. There is also the fast sensor readout for high frame rates. So maybe m43 isnt for the average shooter unless you want a tiny camera and little pocket lenses. there is definitely a demand for it but its more specific these days. either pocket camera or a big zoom camera. Or if you really desire high frame rates slow motion or rapid fire photos. The average person is happy with autofocus, low light ability and thats why Sony FF dominated market for so long.

    • @frankfeng2701
      @frankfeng2701 Před měsícem +1

      @@LucasCreativeTech FF lenses are getting lighter these days because more people buy them and lens manufacturers incline to invest in a popular system. Those M43 telephotos you mentioned, are very specific and expensive, whereas some of the new FF telephotos, like Tamron 50-300, are popular because they're relatively inexpensive and versatile for everyday use. Just simple supply and demand.

      No, this is again an opinion of someone who has never used both the GH7/G9II and S5II. MFT makes a lot of senses for small zoom, telezoom or pancake lenses. You can't found anything like this on L mount for now. Also the IBIS of the G9II/GH7 is better than the S5II, I don't even speak about the RS or the frame rates. I found my G9II much more interesting for video than my S5II 90% of the time.
