  • FINALY - We can drop our first review from the new Black Rock Crafted Bag-In-Box Range.
Around July this year Black Rock dropped their new crafted bag-in-box range on the market with four styles. We picked up the Golden Ale and did two brews - one with the straight kit and one dry-hopped on a recommendation from Brendon.
One of the coolest things about the bag-in-box range is that this is the exact same product that is sold to microbreweries, repackaged for the consumer market. The claim from Black Rock - that the finish on these brews will be similar to a commercial style beer. And we would agree.
Plus the fact that its possible to put one of these brews on in less than five minutes!

Thanks for the review Russell, i appreciate you taking the time to put so much information into these videos.
Can you share what on the shelf beers would taste similar to this brew and also brews in the future?
It helps novices like me figure out if thats the kind of brew i am looking for.
Again appreciate your time and effort.

Thanks @AndrewHague14. I appreciate that people watch and get value!
Let me think about that. I am a little cautious as I'm not sure it's apples for apples. What I mean by that is if there was XX beer on the shelf in a supermarket and you could also buy XX beer as a beer kit, I think its fair to compare the store bought and the home brewed.
I am happy, and I did in this review compare the brew to general store bought styles. which I think is fair to do.
I want to keep evolving the brew reviews and one of the things on my mind was replica brews. For example there was some discussion around a post on a recipe for Emerson's 1812 Pale Ale.

Nice! Of all the choice of words to use that brewer went with nice, not a bad word but not the best either. A cup of tea is nice, my son's teacher is nice too, but that BIB Golden Ale was frikkin delish, my mates and I enjoyed both bottles and the end result was "pity I didn't have any more".
Get the charcoal BBQ going on a nice summer day and a few of those Golden Ales.
Hat's off mate, like said you missed your calling.😁🤤

I remember you like your hopped beers - I definitely preferred the hopped version of this brew.
How did your last brew go - good result? And how much hops did you end up using in dry hop?

@@homebrewrepublic1993 I had about 60g of cascade left over from another brew and chucked it in, came out nice :-)

@@graemeglasgow4596 I think 60grams is a good volume for these kits. And the Cascade would have worked mint. Nice!
