Or you're stereotyping and ignoring a lot of tradition and history. To this day, I see poppers and lockers rock formal clothing. And they're dancers, not hosts. While I can't speak for promoters I've never met, not everything is about "keeping it real." It's about making your own culture and expressing yourself. Not sure that involves shaming strangers, either. I kinda doubt it.
