I'm going to take some time and take you to task on this, because I think it will help you in the long run. If you are going to post videos like this on youtube, understand that you are putting yourself out there for criticism from the ENTIRE WORLD, and the world is pretty big so there will be people who know better and will say so. In this video, you list maybe 10 Promaster issues, of which all but ONE is completely wrong. Let's start. Try not to take what I say personally. The steering racks do NOT normally go bad. In fact, in now 10 years of working EXCLUSIVELY on Promasters I have never had to replace a rack. The tie rod seals at the ends can go bad, and for years you had to buy the whole rack, but now you can get the inner tie rods separately. In 10 years, I have seen exactly ONE bad fuel injector, they are generally trouble free. You are wrong about the air filter - Alldata books it at .3 hrs and you do not need to do anything with the bumper, all you need is a phillips. You are right about the coolant bottle cracks, they all crack but it takes 3 or 4 years for the crack to turn into a leak. $99, 15 minute fix. You are wrong about the water pumps - in 10 years we have NEVER had to replace a water pump (a bold claim but true). There is a part called the coolant crossover tube that lives above the water pump and is prone to leak, so much so that Dorman makes an aluminum replacement. So when you sell a $1500 water pump job to a customer and it still leaks, now you know. You are wrong about the oil cooler. Yes, they all leak but the problem is never the cooler it's just the seals underneath it. Still, Dorman makes an aluminum upgrade that eliminates the problem and costs less than an OE cooler. You are wrong about the transmission - it's a 62TE and it's been in almost every FWD Chrysler since 2007, and it's basically a 41TE with a compounder. They are a weak spot on this vehicle, but most of the problems with them come from misdiagnosis and overcharging shops. I've got 2 with 800,000 miles on them. You are wrong about the heads cracking - in 2011-2012 they had an issue with #2 exhaust valve cracking, long since resolved. You are right about the rocker arm failure. In late 2019 Chrysler released a revised rocker that basically eliminates the problem or pushes it out past 300 or 400k. Overall, you are wrong about this vehicle. Here's what it DOESN'T have - no EGR valve. No fuel filter. No fuel return system. No MAF sensor. No exhaust manifolds. No timing belt. No caster or camber to adjust. Nice. Here's what we have NEVER HAD TO TOUCH: fuel pump. Chain or tensioners. Power steering pump. Water pump. Rack. Muffler. Crank sensor. ABS pump or master cylinder. That's a pretty big list of shit that will never break. Generally, once you address the rockers and oil cooler, these engines generally go to 650,000 miles before the compression starts to get weak. They make the same power as a SBC from 20 years ago, yet deliver vastly better mpg (20mpg is easy) and last 4x as long. A chevy 1 ton carries 2500lbs, this van carries 4600lbs. It's just night and day. In closing, say whatever you like on the internet, but don't be surprised when people fact check you and make you look silly. If you ever get another van in the shop, feel free to look at my channel and learn everything there is to know about these vans.
