    This video was actually quite helpful since it touched on some of the exact issues I'm having with my S&G lock.

    Thanks so much!!! I was trying to get this to open without success then tried, as you advised, trying numbers that were 1 higher or lower and that did the trick!!

    Thank you sir. My 4 month old safe has the issue that rocking at 90 releases. I originally asked for a mechanical lock. The salesman called me and talked me into the electronic lock , but he forgot to note that on the order. The safe was delivered with my asked for mechanical lock. This lock has been giving problems for three weeks now. Thanks for the instruction. I will be contacting the dealer tomorrow.

    I'm a fan of mechanical locks also. I think it's harder for the manufacturer to build in their own "back door" combination. Even if they did, a clever person could mechanically inspect the lock and see it.
    Apparently it's pretty common for people to not think about where those bolts have to go and they get stuff caught in them. The problem is 99% of safes use a "break free" system to thwart brute force attacks on the handle. Nicer saves have a slip clutch, cheaper safes just build in a weak point, like a roll pin, which breaks when forced and now you gotta break out the drills.
    Not sure if they are still around, but there was this company called, IIC, "Sturdy" and their solution was just to really reinforce the lock. Their safe had about an 18" handle on it, and he would demonstrate the system buy putting enough force on the handle to break it off and the lock would still function. Then he would remove the handle, put a pipe wrench on the spindle with a 10 foot cheater bar and he still couldn't force the lock.

    OMG! I have been trying to open my safe for 3 days. I used the technique by cycling to 8 and banging the door above the lock with a rubber mallet and it worked!!!!!! Thank you Aaron Parker

    This is most useful. I was having trouble with my lock and stumbled across the "roll to 8 and bang on the door" solution years ago. I did not know until today that I have a stuck lever. I need to get that fixed/replaced. It is a pain in the butt! Thanks for the explanation.

    My safe won't open. I tried my combination several times but the safe wouldn't open. After trying a couple digits up and down I managed to get it open, but then closed and locked it. I used the combination that worked but could not get it open again. If I manage to get the safe open again should I try lubing the internals, or just get a new lock? I've had the safe since 2014 with no issues until a few days ago.

    Do the S&G come with the key to allow the owner to reset the combination?

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  Před 9 lety

      If you buy just the lock from S&G then yes but not from the safe manufacturer. You can buy a key though from S&G.
