This is the song my dad asked me to play at his funeral for him when I was around the age of 5 or 6. He passed around a year ago. This song keeps me going through the dark days I can't seem to get by. It helps me shine through my issues.
This is a great example of what the 90's music scene was about. Song value over everything else. We all know collective soul could shred a guitar solo for 10 minutes, but they decided to make music that let the songs message speak for itself rather than just laying a face melting guitar or drum solo for 3/4 of the song. I've appreciated this band from day 1 and will do so until my end.
I’m 12 and my granddad showed me this song. i listen to it every day so i can think of him. he is still a great man and is very fun to listen to his amazing stories but i can’t hear him cause this the song he reminds me of. it’s the best to keep memories alive.
Circa 94/94...I livied in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh to be exact... shuffling around in a tiny little music kiosk inside Safestway grocery store. No CD's, no albums, no 8 track's...only tapes, as in tape recorder type. "Hints allegations & things left unsaid~" Caught my eye, resembled my thoughts, I couldn't have said it better! I bought it!!! Plugged it in and it was music to my ears!!! The Angel's sang as Collective Soul entered my life forever!!!

I was on the school van going to some gym field trip. Mr. Steiner was driving. Grade 10. This song came on the radio. It has stuck with me ever since. Turned 40 in July of 2023 and I still crank this when it comes on the radio!
This song has always made me feel oddly nostalgic. I can’t ever pinpoint where I first heard it or why it’s so special to me, but it’s a welcome catharsis.

Once I heard this song on the radio, and I fell in love with it. I had to remember a phrase of the song because I didn't knew the name, so I could download it. And so I did. It fastly became my favorite song, and I knew I had to dedicate this song to a special person. Now I have a GF and I'm happy that I waited 1 year to play this song on my guitar for her, by our anniversary, and now I'm sure she's that special person that I didn´t knew I was going to play this song for.
I used to listen to this song and Heavy when I was little. My mom and dad loved Collective Soul. My dad passed away on January 24th. Now I'm trying to find all the songs he used to play when I spent time with him in Vancouver in the 1990's. This is one of them.
Post-grunge might be cheesy but this band is really underrated. Their early material is gold. There are some hidden gems on the albums too, even on this first one. Ed Roland is a great songwriter.
@Morphelia Hi Morphelia.. I was listening to this song last night, another Lonely Fri. night. Earlier that night I had talked to a beautiful young woman named Alexia, asked her if she had a date that night, and she said, "Yes". My journey through a plethora of music, thinking all night about Alexia, brought me to this song. As I listened to this song, I plaintively asked, "Alexia... ?" as if there might still be a future hope for us... And that's the long story Morphelia. Thank you for asking.
I remember my mother having this cd in the early 90s, I was like 3 years old loving this song as it played and looking at the cd cover like "holy fuck". I always thought it was a nutcracker man.
