I love how all the villains are just talking gossip and doing chores XD
Hahaha yeah, it’s like sorry guys I can’t villain today I got housework and some goss to catch up on, 😂
That’s actually pretty good writing makes them more relatable

"oh, leave them alone!" lol
Lol
Of course they’re gay...he was riding him like a dime story pony.
I remember in a later ambiguously gay duo episode they were trying to sting them in the same way Larry craig was caught in the airport bathroom. And a villain and the security guard were caught having sex
I feel like the audience just stopped laughing because they actually became invested in the story lol. This needs it's own TV series!
Seriously!
They already do..
It's called Batman and Robin..😂
Great observation and you're exactly right!

He was great on Venture Brothers, as well. He'd be my pick to play Reed Richards for when Wes Anderson gets to make that Fantastic Four movie someday.
@@aeschafer1 Phah! He was a daydreamer, a sass-mouth, and, not infrequently, a bit of a gigglepuss!
How many people I wonder knew Ted Knight did a ton of cartoon voice acting in the 60’.
He's great on Harvey Birdman too
The running joke of always answering “Nothing!” always gets me. Like even super-villains gossip about whose gay but pretend they’re tolerant.
They ARE tolerant. They are just curious and don't want to pry.
@@protoborg it’s debatable if they are or aren’t. Either way all the double entendres are funny
Actually villains were sometimes coded as queer... & i think in this skit, they are meant to be ambiguous just like the two heros.
@@protoborg Maybe OP hasn't seen the rest of the cartoons, but it's obvious the villains in the series are the most genuinely tolerant villains ever, which makes it even more comical.
I read all but one of the villains as being gay themselves. They are interested because they are attracted and/or want to know who else is of their "persuasion".
Hilarious because the villains aren't even breaking any laws, just doing household chores or relaxing. Lol
oh gosh., the gay references are killing me.

Villians got woke
Cuz the villains are gay too
Ever since I found out Ace and Gary were voiced by Stephen Colbert and Steve Carrell I cant NOT hear it.
thank you. 😆 been a while since i watched Colbert on SNL, but his voice is unmistakeable. i just couldnt place Steve Carrells voice, even though i usually have no problem matching the name to a voice
Holy shit! I never knew that but I hear it now! Lmao

It’s hilarious when the duo ask the villains “now what are you looking at?” and they say “NOTHING!”
Translation: the villains were watching Ace and Gary with the utmost in intrigue!
they should bring this back and introduce a third hero with a Y on his chest for the pilot .
And then the third one with the Y in the chest is their child--
Then they won’t be the ambiguous gay duo anymore but the gay trio :))
or one with a t perhaps another sidekick like gary
Quacky Art named Yancy who tragically was electrocuted by a faulty sex toy.
They both have the xy. Given the standard behavior of the two I doubt they would know what to do with a xx.
I'm more impressed that the villians sucessfully installed a 4 way party line back in the 90's, then I am anything else! LOL
It was like a Microsoft Teams call, pre-cellphone, pre-internet!!
The line that's always stayed with me: "Sometimes the best thing to do is not think and just put it in"...
That advice has always served me well....... 😁👍
Love how genuinely oblivious they both are
Can't argue that, in all honesty its what made these segments work.

@@gallifreyanknight1355 Me too. My mom never told me anything but I used to watched these episodes when I was in my teens and 20’s. I’m 41 now. For example this episode aired in 1998. It’s the same thing for me with Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories about Rick James and Prince on The Chappelle Show. I believe those episodes aired in the early 2000’s. My friends and I thought they were the funniest things ever and watched them over and over. I still think those sketches were some of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. Did you gossip about Ace and Gary?
1:34 teabagging 😂
Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell are the voices of Ace & Gary respectively. Who knew they would both be big stars nearly a decade later?
Part of Stephen colbert’s appeal is his voice
I miss Ace and Gary so much! Wish that they would bring them back! 😔💜
It’s nice too see two men so close. I bet their wives approve
They actually mention in the Christmas episode that they're both unmarried. The Commissioner apologizes for calling them in on Christmas and asks them to apologize to their wives for him, to which Ace answers that they aren't married, and after the call ends it becomes clear that this was part of a bet between the Commissioner and the Chief O'Hara parody character about whether or not the boys were single, the dialogue going as such IIRC:
"Pay up."
"They could have girlfriends!"
"PAY UP."
@@RykenInverse cool
The biggest travesty about this series is that it never became a full blown series. It's brilliant and hilarious. I love how the villains' main goal is to find out if the duo are gay or not. XD They're not really a threat. Seriously, though, this needs to be picked up again and renewed for the internet. So long as it's not put on an app I'd have to pay for, cuz that's getting out of control these days.
Also, this kinda gives me vibes of Dr Horrible, without the musical aspect, and I'm here for it. :D

This is Batman and Robin/Captain American and Bucky comics come to life.
Well, old batman and robin, after the silver age it was way more "Father and son" than "ambiguously gay" lol
An understated part of these are how they replicate the limited animation cartoons of the 60s/70s perfectly.
"Funhouse" was one of the best things about SNL to this day! Even Kajoro has strong misgivings about Ace and Gary.
I think they're just extremely close friends...

I actually love this from SNL
At 1:13 ..It should be "The Fortress of Suckadude"!!!!
This sketch is actually from the amazingly hilarious Dana Carvey show, which both Steve Colbert and Steve Carell wrote and acted.
"Master, don't take your wisdom from us!"
"Please!"
😂😂
One of the best things SNL ever did.
I have forgotten that Stephen Colbert is the voice of Ace. Probably because Colbert wasn't as famous back then when I watch it as he is today.
Steve Carrell wasn't famous back then either
I just realized this is Stephen Colbert. And then I realized this is Harvey Birdman and Spaceghost.
I miss humor like this on tv
Before he was Stephen Colbert of the Late Show… he was Steven Colbert of… the Colbert Report. But even before that, he was… Ace!

One of the absolute most iconic superheros.I remember in the unanimated ambiguously gay duo, that Adam West played the character of Ace.
Is the guy who chases the dog, saying “gimme back my show” supposed to be Lorne Michaels?
Yes
As a kid this is how I learned about and added the word ambiguous to my vernacular.
This is actually a parody on the rather "peculiar" relationship between Batman and Robin. The comics are riddled with homoerotic references between these characters, fandom often rejects the notion of a gay/bi Batman but the cues throughout the comics can't be ignored

over 25 years later and I'm still laughing!!!
To me: what made this bit work was that Ace and Gary are oblivious to the fact that they are drawing way to much attention to themselves in how they are acting and what they are saying.
I had no idea Colbert was the voice of Gary.
Steve Carell was the voice of Gary, Colbert was Ace.

"Alright, you all know what's coming: 0:09 Now that we've got that joke out of the way, let's continue."

It seems the villains spend more time trying to catch them in the act than they do committing crimes.
