so was my Grand Father. before visiting, spending your money, please see history. the police Deputy Commissioner changed from Hindu to Muslim on 27 July 1947, who collaborated with Muslim league for riots. city had iron industry and its Muslim lohaars without provocation, between 11-17 August, 1947, burnt all areas of Hindus and Sikhs including Guru Nanak Pura, shown here. Pakistani researchers themselves have interviewed to find that Sikh and Hindu atrocities on Muslims in East Punjab was not a direct provocation but justification for their loot and religious fanaticism, since many were oblivious to it. Also, Gurudwara DamDama Sahib attacked, Hindus, Sikhs and Granthi ji killed, around Aug 24, 1947, along with 150 of us Sikhs and Hindus, nearby. Kamoke 20 km South of Gujranwala city, had the worst railway massacre, on 24 Sept 1947, though this was with provocation, i agree. Here 3000 Hindus and Sikhs were killed, as per India, and 600 women abducted. Kamoke also had Hindus and Sikhs killed on 16 August 1947, without provocation and frequent train killings even before 24 Sept 1947, and had Hindu and Sikh women abduction. If you still want to visit, see and PLEASE research what Nizamabadi Lohaars (29 KM north of this city) did to trains, 100% without provocation, driver who was from Lohaar community itself would stop the trains in collaboration with the Lohaars to slaughter and loot. These Lohaars were supplying weapons - swords and daggers to Muslim League armoury way months any violence happened, secretly through train wagons, had knowledge of manufacturing carbines. Some of the worst atrocities happened in this distict, especially post August 15, 1947. Thats because of these Nizamabadi Lohaars and most trains passed from here, meaning most trains were looted, that became their regular business. If you ever visit, visualise how our relationship with this city had ended, not how we lived. We owned two thirds of this city, banking, business, monuments, paid most taxes etc.

My father born in Lahore and mother was born in Burma. I can see why my father always missed Lahore, Queta, Peshawar etc. There is no match to Punjabi or Punjabi cuisine or what ever related to Punjabi. Wahe Guru ji ka khalsa Wahe Guru ji ki fateh.
