- The Iowa Hawkeyes held off the Kent State Golden Flashes to advance their record to 3-0 and extended their win streak to eight. Running back Tyler Goodson picked up 153 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Quarterback Spencer Petras threw for 209 yards and one touchdown pass.

My dad played on the champs of 56 team. We watched for years and years. He was on the field for the 50th anniversary against Purdue of that team. He passed in 2018 but we love the Hawkeyes.

Solid defensive effort, with the exception of a couple big play passes the Hawkeyes let slip through. The offense is looking better. Goodson, Kelly-Martin and LaPorta were tough as nails today! The whole team is improving.
The praise Riley moss is getting comes from a lucky grab and one jumped route, he’s certainly a guy who guesses and goes for it, which is great when he’s right but anxiety inducing otherwise. I think our d line is stout and we certainly have a top 5 defense in the country, but I hope Phil Parker gets to him and convinced him to buy into our “bend don’t break” defensive strategy for the rest of the season. It doesn’t matter how fast opposing receivers are when you only have the option to run a 15 yard out in the red zone. Making opponents settle for field goals is how this team stays in the top 10

@@cubbie9499 Don't disagree with you, but I think he can be a great back to come in and spot Goodson. But, yeah, Kelly-Martin needs to button up the ball as best he can especially since defenders are always going to try and knock the rock loose. He fumbled twice and lost one of them. Hopefully, he'll be better going forward, and I think he can.
@@seanoconnell6253 Great points. By the time the Hawkeyes get into the thick of Big 10 plays, the majority of the kinks should be worked out. Barring any injuries to key players, this team has the makings of being tremendous by the end of the season. Yes, we need improvement every week and there's no reason to think that can't happen. Will definitely like to see Petras continue better decisions, and more greater involvement from Tracy and Ragaini.

I know you probably don’t follow college football closely so you wouldn’t understand this, but just because a team isn’t power 5 doesn’t mean they’re bad, Kent state is projected to win the MAC, arguably one of the best G5 conferences in the country. Obviously I’m not happy with how the offense played today, but 30-7 against a clear top 5 G5 team is good enough for be. Quit being such a downer

Iowa has the best uniforms in CF(my opinion) but I wish they'd go to a flat black. Iowa's uniforms have been the same forever, they need to change it up a bit. Congrats Hawks, outstanding game!

Left out the dumpster fire call by the refs at the start of the second half. That call was hall of infamy bad.
Good win, but I did get very frustrated with the dink and dunk passing game. Didn't appear Petras was even looking downfield on some of them. Riley had a bad game, burned twice and missed several tackles. Kelly-Martin has had 5 fumbles in three games. But our O and D lines looked better.
I would love for iowa to host an ACC SEC, or PAC 12
South Carolina mizzou or Kentucky from SEC. AND COLORADO UTAH WASHINGTON OR OREGON STATE from PAC12.

Iowa isn’t an explosive offensive team and never has been. They’re mediocre at best and is definitely our weakness. But if the offense does get rolling look out. I can see them possibly challenging for a big ten title

Wasn't perfect, Ivory really needs to focus on ball security, nothing gets you in the dog house at Iowa more than fumbles. Overall though, tough team, but I'm gonna say this puts some more perspective on things for me for my Hawks. Great year incoming.

@@jones1926 No they don't. Penn State, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Purdue and Maryland playing tough and it took everything for #3 Oklahoma to beat Nebraska at home. They were favored by 22 and only won by 7.

Game was closer than score would indicate. State really blew it when they fumbled on the goal line, which would have changed the complextion completely. They never recovered.

Kent physically was fairly evenly matched.

When #3 only beat an awful Nebraska team by 7 and Clemson only beat a Georgia Tech team that lost to Northern Illinois 14-8 I think it's justified. Lot of good teams struggling early this year.
