I’ve come to realise this myself. The sound of the drums is what places a piece of music in its genre and era.

I think drums are like shoes. You could be wearing a white tshirt and jeans but culturally theres a big difference a doc martin, a pair of vans and air force 1s. Same with music, the drums often dictate the genre, the same guitar part could be a rock song or a trap beat just by changing the drums

true, regarding drums it always troubled me that i can't carve my drum tracks on the software, there are visible limits.

When drums are well recorded and mixed it makes a huge difference on an album, I don't care about technic and time signatures and stuff.

Technique is the largest part of pulling sound out of the drums. If you hit them, they will sound much different than if I hit them.
      It ALL works together.

I kinda love his work. He’s my Joao Gilberto in a modern English version. Produce with him must be an toph procedure and also full of gratitude we can see in the way that he speaks. 💡🎤👨‍⚕️👩‍🔬🧑🏻‍🔬👨🏻‍🔬🎹💼🚀📊📑📈🎤🎤🎤

Anybody know of good Audio to MIDI plugins like he's talking about? Haven't discovered anything stock in ProTools yet..

You can do it in Pro Tools without any plugin, at least on the software version I am on. Just drag an audio clip onto a MIDI or instrument track and it should work fine. You can choose from different algorithms like melodic, polyphonic or percussive depending on what you're going for.

What is this "softwares" that turns live drumming into midi? Is it Melodyne?

The idea is good but you can’t download the courses to watch without internet connection such as when travelling, there are no audio examples to download and reference either, for this reason I will not be paying £80 where I have to log onto a website in order to watch this….

Cut & paste from other people's music seem more likely to be "the foundation" for mr. ronson...

everything is influenced, The Beatles took lots of music from artists before them, the key thing is providing a modern, fresh twist on an old sound. Which is something I think Mark Ronson does very well.
