First heard this when I was 5 (wayyyyyyy back in 1983) - my 18 year old sister brought home this single (vinyl), and I was MESMERIZED! I couldn't get enough of this tune - the bass, kick-a$$ synth, and of course Annie's vocals...then I saw the video...and I was hooked - Eurythmics fan for life!!
Lucky fucker. I didn't hear this until 2003. It was a road trip to Chi-Town for a Transformers Convention. It was playing on a radio station as I drove down the freeway.
I was 3 in 1983.. I heard this on casey kasem's top 20 when I was like 5 or 6. Me and my older sisters loved it😍 You'll never see a decade like the 80's again..ever.
I was there when this was first released in 83 I never had the album and I forgot if there was an extended album version or a 12 inch single. Anyway. Love this extension
Yuri Petukhov maybe is the original version but it’s different cause when it was 1983 eurythmics made it like that extended they made it extended I think cause the title says 1983
Yuri Petukhov but when they had music and they put this music in 2009 maybe they just make the shorter normal version and not putting the 1983 version,
All this good music is there.. It might not be in the charts or on Radio 1, but it is around to be discovered.. Radio 2 doesnt do a bad job, actually plays some much better music. Unfortunately popular music today is generic crap
Wasnt too long ago this thawt came to me... this is true. Sweet Dreams are made of "this" ... what we do today creates the future of tomorrow. I think its what you call an Epiphany. It is actually true! The trails we face in our lives creates dreams; in the act of longing for some remedy or some cure; quite similar in a way to the founding of a religion; if i remember that all Religions began for that very reason -> a longing and a prayer for a remedy, a cure. Religions were founded on little more than people whose Rights were being denied asking for help. Pretty darn near Spiritual in nature; in reality and not in some fluffed up book or some boring rituals or some off-beat social sense ... i mean REALLY. Man these Epiphanies are pretty spectacular. TY so much for this song.
+me001ist to be fair,i liked the song before becoming a marvel fan(though i didn't listen to it often, but lately it just doesn't leave my head, maybe because, damn, quicksilver scene was so good)
What is X-men???? I am what you call a youngin and never hear of this X-men or X-man. What is it. Did The Squad say something about it??? Tell me what a X-man or X-men is. If it not The Squad approved means nada to us youngins.
One of the best Synth-Pop songs Being a kid growing up in the 80s brought me here... CLASSIC. After watch X-Men: Apocalypse, I can't listen to this song and don't remember of Quicksilver
Look kid, this whole "born in the wrong generation" and "my generation's music sucks" thing is pure bullshit. Even if you don't like him, artists like deadmau5 are scratching the absolute THINNEST surface of electronic music, he does in no way encompass ALL of electronic music today, trust me. Especially with the internet nowadays, good music IS THERE if you actually look for it. If you want modern music with that dancy, synth-heavy 80's ethos that this song has, try something like Chromeo, or Kavinsky, and of course, if you haven't listened to Daft Punk's album Discovery yet, you're doing yourself a disservice. It's just kind of ignorant to write off an entire generation of music as bad when all you know is the absolute outer most layer of what the music industry has to offer. So in short, WE DO HAVE MUSIC THAT SOUNDS LIKE THIS TODAY. Just put some effort in and look for it.
Being a kid growing up in the 80s brought me here... CLASSIC. youngins will here this on X-Men Being a kid growing up in the 80s brought me here... CLASSIC.
When I was young I was made to feel guilty about liking this song ... a neighbour commented "weird song" in a derisive tone which made me feel immediately shameful of my taste ... now I know its ok to be weird and non-mainstream and not be stuck up just because one belongs to the mainstream, I still love this song ...

Loved this song since 83 but never understood the song's meaning. Ive tried to mentally see the "Sweet Dreams".... ambiguous lyrics tend to annoy me
When I was young I was made to feel guilty about liking this song ... a neighbour commented "weird song" in a derisive tone which made me feel immediately shameful of my taste ... now I know its ok to be weird and non-mainstream and not be stuck up just because one belongs to the mainstream, I still love this song ...
x-men brought me here
Acid house classic ;)
...Exactly how is this "acid house"? This is '80s New Wave.
And the other well known Acid House classic, Gary Numan's 'Cars'.
Marilyn Manson version better
sorry original by Eurythmics is way better
