Industrial Policy Resolution 1956
1. Sectors were classified into schedules :-
• Schedule A - Owned and operated by public sector -- 17 industries
• Schedule B - Progressively owned by public sector i.e. some role of private sector -- 12 industries
• Schedule C - Owned by private sector
2. Industrial Licensing
• Required license for setting up new industry and expansion of the existing one.
3. Tax concessions
• Govt provided various incentives and subsidies for setting up industries in economically backward areas.
For ex - Electricity at subsidised rate.
