It really is, but the anime communitys standards are incredibly low even for an anime as good as jjk they won't really care.

but what I mean is like imo, i think many fans have only seen the popular ones like AOT, JJK, and haven't seen the other anime that they're competing with. So they only just vote for JJK, AOT, and demon slayer cus they're more mainstream (especially on tiktok, IG, all the short form platforms, which do bring in a lot of anime fans)
I mean the judges probably didnt remove some seeing JJK won 11 awards in total from pre-show to the actual awards LOL. I gave up watching for the Anime Of The Year because I saw JJK already winning like 9 awards. I knew it was gonna win it already cause no way fans go hard on other votes then not win AOTY xD

I’m so happy for JJK. 2023 truly was JJK year..and for me it was best anime. But it doesn’t mean other was bad, other animes are so good too.
Hell nah man, Shibuya arc wasn't even included in this anime awards. There's no way you're telling me that Hidden Inventory arc alone is better than shows like Vinland Saga S2, Heavenly Delusion, Chainsaw Man or Mob Psycho S3.

@@flowertool2183 I wouldn't blame you for not knowing as it was EXTREMELY poorly explained by crunchyroll's award team. Nominations cut off at September 2023 (End of Summer season as per their rule to not include Fall due to recency bias), which means only the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc of JJK S2 was nominated. But they still decided to randomly advertise it as JJK S2 with Shibuya arc scenes, posters, etc. and never clarified this so most people voted for JJK S2 thinking it was the whole season with all of Shibuya arc, which would have been against their recency bias rule. This also means that JJK S2 (technically just Shibuya arc) would be part of next year's Anime Awards for yet another round of nominations. Incredibly questionable decision to split an anime season into 2 separate nominations in the first place but then topped off with equally stupid execution.
No hates to jjk but it didn’t not deserve that many awards especially if it’s the 5 inventory eps.. there was so much anime that deserved some awards of their own.. too bad. At the same time congratulations to JJK for winning 9 awards 🎉🎉

While I do like JJK...I hate that it is always shonen animes that guide most anime watchers on the factors required for a good anime...As if action and unrealistic battle scenes are all that anime is about...As if good plots, proper character development, and amazing world-building are not important facets to judge an anime...Since when did the rhetoric change into good fights = good anime?? For real tho, aside from these being popularity contests, the formatting of these awards is honestly just horrendous. No one is actually voting based on a specific season or airing period and are voting based on a series as a whole.
With all due respect to JJKs massive fanbase, it quite frankly should've won like almost nothing this year. Only the hidden inventory arc(or the first 5 episodes if we are really detailing the cutoff dates for these) were actually aired during what crunchyroll counts as this years awards, and those episodes were the definition of average
