Thanks for the post...
Shame
A very exciting time!!!
My first memory of this song was driving in the car with my dad when I was young, maybe 8 years old. My dad is a very quiet and reserved man, a listener rather than a speaker. As soon as this song came on he didn’t say a word he just turned it up and belted out the whole song. One of my favourite memories I cherish. Id never seen my dad that into anything before that day. I’ve never seen him belt out/sing a song since. I doubt he even remembers it. But he said every word perfectly, even the intro at the start haha. I had absolutely no clue what was going on but it was certainly awesome. Shoutout dad he knows I love him :)
How cool
When you feel the groove. Ur pop gave ya a mind 😉
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing :)

NEVER gets old!!!! No one can replace these guys!!! Not in a million years!!! Loved them then, love them now. Their music will not be forgotten and neither will they!!!! Thank you Andy,…
R.I.P: Brian, Mick and Steve 😢
@Retro Blue with you 1000...% -- NEVER anyone like our Fabulous Four, nor will there EVER be. I cannot get enough of our SWEET -- beyond words -- I cannot imagine my life without them!!! And, yes, very grateful for all Andy does to keep the legendary SWEET so alive and well. And for our dear Brian, Mick, and most recently and far too suddenly gone, our dear Steve -- missing them is the understatement of a lifetime. Hopefully you were able to see the beautiful livestream of the Memorial Bench Unveiling ceremony for Steve that took place on February 23, 2022. If you didn't, you'll find it on YT. More than beautiful to see. Thank God we live in an age where we are blessed to hear their iconic voices and see their priceless performances and videos at the tap of a finger.
Best band ever 🎶🎤🎸🎸🥁👍

it is !
Yes it is

Written by a country boy from Queensland, Australia. The Sweet were the perfect band choice. Absolutely kicks ass, and in 2021 still does!

I miss growing up in the 70s & 80s!!!! The best music in every direction.
I was lucky growing up in the 70`s and 80`s great time and music and now 67 !
I wasn't even born until '86, but all of my favorite music is from back then 😊. My parents raised me right, thank God.
That last sentence.
Way ahead of their time. Many modern musicians owe an applause to theses lads. The 70 produced some excellent rock.
Are you ready Steve? - uhuu 🎸
Andy? - yeah 🎸
Mick? - okay 🥁
Allright fellas, let's goooooooooo 🎤🎶
Best intro ever of the whole Rock-History!
Thank you guys for your fantastic Sweet-Sound 🥰
Unforgotten and forever in the hearts of your fans 💕♥️💕♥️💕
MUCH LOVE! There are very few openings of songs that I enjoy "singing/saying" as much as this. The tone of Brian's voice is, and I mean this in a totally hardcore, badass , rock-and-roll way, ADORABLE. It sounds like he's the leader of a pack of boys checking if they're ready to go out on an adventure. I like to think that they did go out on an adventure later that day, and they found a trove of German-looted art and gold from the war and returned it to my relatives. #SlavaUkraini

If this song doesn't get your adrenaline popping, nothing will!
"The Ballroom Blitz" is a song written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman and recorded by British rock group The Sweet in 1973. Billboard ranked the song No. 16 for 1975.
The Ballroom Blitz was recorded at the International Audio Studio, 18 Rodmartin Street, London. It was produced by Phil Wainman and drummer Mick Tucker who used a Wainman drum on the recording.
This song was inspired by an incident on January 27, 1973, when the band The Sweet was playing at the Great Hall in Kilmarnock, Scotland and had been chased off the stage by bottle shots by fans.
I absolutely love this song. Great song to get the day started with

That was the best group for me when I was young. I was born in 1963. And such a great rhythm. When I was 13, I always listened to it with my brother and we drummed along and acted as if we were playing the drums. I saw Sweet again at a gig, but not all of the original singers were there. Just Andy Scott. The concert wasn't bad, but it was different than if the original singers had been there. I would like to see the time back again. ...
gabi, I think we all would, Sweet today is just a cover band without Brian and Mick, but in their day they were amazing weren't they.
A takový skvělý rytmus. ...

Some of the best music ever came from the 70's and 80's. Ballroom Blitz is one of my favourites. I couldn't have sat so still as the audience did lol. RIP Steve Priest

Growing up people always said they were glam- not true. The NY Dolls were glam-, Sweet were an AMAZING rock band that just never got what was deserved of them. I LOVED THEM THEN AS MUCH AS LOVE I LOVE THEIR MUSIC NOW
Absolute red-hot classic! I remember it being in the charts, and I love it just as much now as then.
Just sad that these times are over..
The song is still alive.

I think the world could be united with some great glam rock.
Hands down *one of the best party songs* ever, if not the very best!!! This is simply guaranteed to get every kind of party started :) Not to mention it being a great song in every other way too, ofc.
I got this album for Christmas in 1973, a month after my 15th birthday. I still have it. I haven't played it in ages, but we recently got a turntable and I can't wait to dig out all my vinyl.
Thank you "REGULAR SHOW" for allowing me too know this song when i was a child🔥💯
Put this on at a party, guarantee it gets everyone up dancing and grooving like they are all 17 again. Brilliant track😁😁
The best band ever heard and seen .I'd never thought that their influence after so many years is growing bigger .. In my childhood I felt their power and nowadays I'm conviced to listen to four top musicans with very special and individuel abilities. Thank you and getting kissed by the sweet muse!
20 years later I was born and I tell you guys: I can‘t get enough🥰❤️🔥
You said it.
I was the only female drummer in band class all the way through 12th grade. I could watch Mick Tucker all day and all night long. R.I.P Mick
This video is so far ahead of its time. With the (seemingly live) effects of having a moving and growing/shrinking circle video (playback) overlay (admittedly, not very deftly controlled) over the live footage of the studio audience sitting in seriously dimmed lighting with TVs set into the wall, surrounded by orange ovals. I didn't know the technology for such an effect existed in 73.
100% agreed. I was eight years old when this song was released. This was when bands had REAL talent.
Vor 25 Jahren starb Brian Connolly.
Wir werden ihn nie vergessen!
Ja das stimmt! Ich werde ihn auch nicht vergessen! 🌷
Absolutely 💯 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The ultimate glam rock song, and what amazing singers.
Amazing!!! Greetings from Moldova 🇲🇩
I loved how bands had that glam look. Awesome.
How fashion has changed since those days and compared to what it is today
David Bowie took it to another level, then Boy George went even further with the androgynous look.
Absolutely love their magnetic energy it’s so contagious & makes me feel happy, fantastic band!!!! My young granddaughter loves Steve Priest in his fairy costume 😆 what a great bassist~singer!!
Even they didn't know how much they were loved ❤

And hard and heavy!!

Desolation Boulevard... Man what an album. I was just a kid, however my Sister was a teenager then and bought all the good rock records. This came out at a time when Pop was hitting the radio stations, so it was a really good change.
I still have my copy...
I love Sweet a long time. ..and I'm so happy when I saw the ballroom blitz hits in the squad suicide. ..finally the youth will know The Sweet!
Love The Sweet. Listened to them when they first preformed! there has been renditions of their songs but NOTHING like these boys! Great group!

When I was a kid - 10 or so - I heard this and died. Every year for several years afterward, I called my local radio station on my birthday and requested it and they always obliged (kiddies, this was way before the days where you could hear your favorite song at the touch of a finger). It never gets old. One of the all-time greatest rock songs.

Lyrics:
Are you ready Steve? Uh-huh
Andy? Yeah
Mick? Okay
Alright fellas, let's go!
Oh it's been getting so hard
Living with the things you do to me
My dreams are getting so strange
I'd like to tell you everything I see
Oh, I see a man in the back as a matter of fact
His eyes was as red as the sun
And the girl in the corner that no one ignores
'Cause she thinks she's the passionate one
Oh yeah! It was like lightning
Everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing
And they all started grooving
Yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
And the man in the back said, "Everyone attack"
And it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said, "Boy I want to warn you"
It'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Oh reaching out for something
Touching nothing's all I ever do
Oh I softly call you over
Then you appear there's nothing left of you
And the man in the back is ready to crack
As he raises his hands to the sky
And the girl in the corner is everyone's mourner
She could kill you with a wink of her eye
Oh yeah! It was electric
So frantically hectic
And the band started leaving
'Cause they all stopped breathing
Yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
And the man in the back said, "Everyone attack"
And it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said, "Boy I want to warn you"
It'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz
Oh yeah! It was like lightning
Everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing
And they all started grooving
Yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
And the man in the back said, "Everyone attack"
And it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said, "Boy I want to warn you"
It'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
It's, it's a ballroom blitz
It's, it's a ballroom blitz
It's, it's a ballroom blitz
Yeah, it's a ballroom blitz
