      @@BearingMySeoul woah, that sounds like an overgeneralization after just listening to the experinece of 2 kids in 1 country within in the world. Why are you making it a contest of which mix of colours it's worse to be???? The fact is that its based on individuals and their enviroments and the people whithin them enviroments. Even if overall it's skewed one way or the other, everyone's experiences will be different, positive and negative. Also even in this interview the boy mentioned he doesn't like it when people talk about him in front of him, unaware he can speak the language. That sounds like a negative experience to me. Not to mention both of them identify as canadian when they have spent all of, or most of their life in korea, which to me personally is a little sad that they feel excluded from the culture they grow up with just because they look different. You have to ask how could this impact them later in life? Just coz they are mixed white is not gonna mean it's all sunshine and rainbows. They are still noticably different compared to everyone else in this specific very homogoneous society, which will come with it's positives and negatives.

      in Europe, there are (and I kid you not!) third-generationers who rather identify with their family's "root country" than with the country they themselves as well as even their parents were born. So that was not surprising to me at all. It has little to do with "racism" or people being mean to you, but more with your family bond, how your family tackles integration, what kind of thinking you inherit from your family, how close your family wants to keep in touch with the root country etc.. It also has benefits, for example that the original language gets passed on and is being accepted more easily by the new generation.

I'm sad for him that even though they were born in Korea and live in Korea and still feel like outsiders, I wish people were less rude to them, even if you don't think people can understand your language its never okay to say rude things - even if you can't understand a language you can still tell when people are talking about you, so I hope people all around the world wouldn't be so rude like that.

    I always find the ‘foreigner’ culture in Korea interesting. In Australia, as soon as you speak the language or wear our clothes (togs & thongs anyone? lol) we consider you Australian no matter your ethnicity or origins. It actually feels like an insult to call someone a foreigner or ask where they’re ‘originally from’, like it implies they aren’t meant to be here or something. Yet in Korea even if you’ve lived there your whole life, you are still considered a foreigner if you don’t LOOK ‘Korean’, and you’ll always get called a foreigner to your face. Han Hyun-min for example!
    But this isn’t discussing racism or discrimination, rather a note on cultural assimilation? Cultural studies just fascinate me haha
    Side thought tho, Hyun-min on JAYKEEOUT!!

      Pretty sure all foreigners in Australia are labeled 'foreigner/immigrant' unless they commit a positive act or achieve something. Just look at how your media plays with the words: If it is negative news about them like crime? They are "Immigrants" and their ethnicity mentioned. Positive news like they won competition or achieved something? Call them "Australians" or even "Our Aussies"...
      So what you said is not completely true. On top of that, the comment above has a point too.

      That's what you get when you have a homogenous society. What people fail to realize though - is that there is a difference between cultural upbringing & your DNA. In the case of mixed kids for example, if they grow up in Korea - they are 100% Korean (culturally speaking) no matter if some idiot claims otherwise. Your cultural identity tends to be stronger no matter what you look like.

Boys faces don’t change as much from puberty, only body does. By the time she hits 15, with her natural strawberry blonde hair, she’ll be looking totally Canadian like Somi or Nancy. Sienna will always have naturally light hair, be much taller than Korean girls, and grow into her natural double kids. I can tell by how they answered, that they have been made to feel ashamed for being different but they have a good emotional, support system.
    I hope they have received some type of trauma therapy so they can grow up to be emotionally healthy individuals.

    영상 잘 봤어여...요 근래 외국분들 영상 자주 올라오는데...느낀점은..꼭 선택을 강요 당하는 질문들이 많더라구요
    있는 그대로 받아들이면 되는데 무엇을 선택 하게 하는 질문들이 거부감을 주네요...어느 순간 선택의 기로가 있지만 이 어린이들에게 선택을 강요하지는 말았으면 합니다.

    They are so adorable, I love that they had mostly good experiences until now :) As a mixed child in Germany I must say I used to get treated differently a lot too but I was a super shy child and hated the attention so that wasn't very nice for me

    • @1Jasmin
      @1Jasmin Před 2 lety +1

      That is so sad to hear. I am German too and atleast in my environment everyone was mostly treated the same (only speaking for the people I do know). But also where I live there are many mixed Germans and also Germans that have parents who both aren't from German ethnicity. So it was normal to have different or mixed ethnicities.

    This is really interesting to see for me, as I am half-korean, half-white living and mostly raised in a white country. I guess I don't really "pass" well as a white so I was always read as asian, but it was really hard for me on my visits as I didn't understand korean. Now I am learning korean since years in order to get better and plan to later also spend time in korea. But I am still at conflict regarding how I may be perceived there, not also being mixed but also homosexual. I am quite nervous if I think about my future sometimes, but also excieted to see how spending more time there will be like. In the country where I live I don't got any asian friends, also my enviroment in not very asian at all and it was always pleasant when in korea people would not always assume I'd be a foreigner (which here, where I live no one does as well but it's also more mixed/open society, still in my childhood I got to experience enough racism).
    Thank you for the video :) I enjoy knowing I'm not alone being mixed
